Afternoon, everyone.
Hey, I'll have you guys know my wife still thinks I look pretty good without a shirt. I still lift weights regularly and I don't look half bad for a 63 year old. Now, Chris, that would be another story....
Larry, have a good time at the wedding. When did you say you'd be back again? You know, what day and about what time too. No reason in particular, Chris was just curious and forgot to ask.
Chris, I wear a dive skin and get sunburned through that.

I think a coating of 10 weight motor oil might help but sun screen does absolutely nothing for me. I think I'd crawl through broken glass for one of your BBB's too. I haven't made anything on the grill this year yet. It's so freakin' hot that I can't hardly touch the thing without getting burned - and that's before it gets fired up.
Tom, that was one thing I really hated about Ohio as a kid. It seemed like half our games got rained out and the other half we played in mud. That doesn't count the years where it didn't rain but the heat was enough to kill you.
BOC, I'm the one who crys if I get a cut. I'm a big baby when it comes to pain.

Yeah, some kind of rain would sure be nice. Even the birds have given up flying from about 10 'till 4 down here.
Corey, this is tornado season up your way and they do just pop up out of nowhere. Minnesota is one of the few places where tornados are about as common after dark as during the day, which makes them especially dangerous. I'm glad this one missed you. You do have a weather radio, right? I've been up in your neck of the woods in the summer and it gets really uncomfortable when the heat and humidity are up. Of course, that's also the most likely time for these isolated supercells that have tornados so hot and sticky should be a warning to keep an eye on the sky.
Numer One daughter came home last night with both passenger side windows collapsed in the doors. Seems both motors failed at the same time. It's a 2004 Chevy Lumina and it doesn't seem like power windows should be failing already. My mechanic got the front one up but the back one has a destroyed regulator and he can't do anything with that until he gets the parts. Since GM shut down their parts factories, he's been having a much harder time getting parts so it's the junkyard route now. Prices have gone through the roof too. Just the regulator is going to cost $94 including tax. The regulator in number two's Pontiac, which is basically the same thing, was less than $60 three months ago when it collapsed. Between the two cars, we've now had 6 of the 8 windows collapse. And GM wonders why they went bankrupt.
Still just a touch warm here today. We have a few cumulus clouds around so we're down to only 102 after a high of 103. The dewpoint is 69 degrees, providing the comfortable heat index of 109.

There's plenty of rain north, east, and south of us but nothing here or to the west, the direction we need something to develop. Now it looks like tomorrow and Saturday will be the worst of the heat, with highs probably pushing 108. After that, we start getting some return flow from the Gulf, with a tiny chance of rain but a big increase in humidity. I don't know which is worse, really hot and a little less humidity or really humid and not quite as hot. Seems like the heat index stays about the same no matter what. Even the low last night was 76 but the heat index never fell below 80. Nothing worse than going out in the garage for a smoke at midnight and sweating so much you need another shower again after you just took one.
