Good morning, Everybody!

I haven't been keeping up with baseball updates in my posts. Forgive me or you're welcome, whichever fits. 🤪

I've also neglected keeping up with the first week of the NFL season. MLB is my first love. Considering how they do the preseason in the NFL now, teams are still evolving. I'm sure I'll catch up with the NFL by Thanksgiving.

Have an enjoyable day Everybody!

It's 72 here right now closing out a gorgeous day. Supposed to start warming up here again til it will be in the upper 90s by the weekend. Worked most of the day and will be putting in a few more hours tomorrow and Wednesday. Depends on how busy the store is as to how long I will work each day. Dove season started this past weekend so we are starting to see more business. Had two passenger cars show up in the mail today for the Gorre & Daphetid.
Sorry for being ignorant what is dove season?

It's the times that one is legally allowed to shoot Doves for sport and eating. My state has three zones, the northern zone that I am in, regular season runs from September 1 to November 9. Then there's a late season from December 20 until January 14. There's some other complex rules to follow when hunting doves, like leaving a wing attached when transporting so the game warden can tell if it is a legal target.

Good morning all!

Another beautiful day in store. Current temp is 45F but will be heading up to 76F. Mostly sunny skies. Big warm-up
starts tomorrow.

Have a few things to do around the house this morning.

Confirmation last night was nice. This was a big group. Mass was about an hour and a half, but that included getting pictures
with the Bishop. Not all that bad, it was about what I expected it to be. Had a nice, but short small family gathering at the
house afterwards.

Volleyball game tonight. Its at home, so no travel involved.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good morning to all! It’s 45f degrees heading to a nice 75.

I might head over for an impromptu work session on a layout about 6 miles away. He was facilitating last night! Unusual but he was coming down from a medicated induced high per his wife. He had an MRI about 4pm and like me he needs drugs to slide through that machine

Work session or not today I’m having a homemade grilled hamburger for lunch. I got 2 fresh hamburger buns at the grocery yesterday

Volleyball on the University of Wisconsin campus tonight at 7. No idea who they are playing but just the atmosphere alone is reason enough to go to a Badger VB game. They are now ranked #6 after being #8 for the 1st 6 games. Rankings are bragging rights in my eyes only for recruitment. With the Name Image Likeness deals, huge scholarships and regular weekly payouts to players what else is there to separate the teams. Backup #1 is available for the game tonight as Terry is still in the Islands. They are not sure yet when they are returning

Because Badger football scored 42 points Saturday a grocery run was needed on Monday! Spend $42 at HyVee and get $.42 off per gallon at the Casey’s gas station via the rewards card. $42 is about 1.5 bags of groceries! The Badgers are playing Alabama in Alabama Saturday. Based on past performance if Bucky scores 10 points it maybe a miracle. But then I only have to spend $10 bucks to get the $.10 per gallon discount. We have 45 days from purchase to use the discount and they accumulate. Sunday I had $2.50 off per gallon and gas was at $2.99 so paid $4.90 total for 10 gallons I needed to fill the car. I know I paid for that discount somewhere at the grocery store but it still felt good!

Found out yesterday that the #3 but current starting catcher for the LA Dodgers is a neighbor 2 doors down. His parents have lived there for 20 years. I was invited last minute to play cards yesterday and found out. He comes home after the season and does usebthere address as his home. Dad told me he saves most of his salary and even though he bounces between the triple AAA team and majors he has a major league contract with great money. Interesting details I heard about. Their other son is a backup goal keeper (goalie) in the MSL

Be well

Good Morning All. Wow! Clear and 59°, wasn't supposed to cool off that much last night. Forecast had called for 64°. Daytime warmup begins today with highs in the 90's for the next ten days. Not a chance of either rain or snow in the forecast.

Today, Arlene and I celebrate our 53rd wedding anniversary. I still remember my Dad telling me that it wouldn't last 5 years since she was a non-Catholic! He did live to see us celebrate 33. He softened up a bit later when my sister also married a non-Catholic a few years afterward. Not sure of the dinner plans yet? It's never my choice!

Did some more mowing yesterday, completing my target area on the south side of the estate. Looks pretty bad with the hay-rows of cut grass clippings which I'll rake up today. They'll be saved in a pile by the garden for use next season as mulch or compost. Yesterday was also house maintenance day, as I had to change 3 light bulbs in ceiling fixtures. Not sure why all 3 failed at the same time. It did mean climbing up on the step-stool and dealing with those hated thumbscrews. The one in the hallway was still an old-fashioned incandescent one which we quit using 20 years ago.
Sometime today, we're taking the Accura to the repair shop to see why the rear hatch won't stay up. I don't have any other concrete plans.

Out in the train shed yesterday, it was a relaxed day. I sat at the workbench and consolidated several individual containers of diesel details that I have accumulated over the years. Lots of spare Kato and Athearn parts, they both always included extras in their kits. Some that I bought individually and some that I don't know the origins of. There was a dozen hand-fabricated sunshades for diesels but mostly there were truck details. All were found in my unsuccessful quest for a package of sanding sticks that are hidden away (not intentionally) somewhere in the train shed. I need to be better organized.

Jaz -
I know my punctuation is sloppy but I’m too lazy to keep jumping from numbers to letters….poor Troy
Don't fret about it. I enjoy the challenge!;)
Kevin - Best wishes for your G'niece's recovery. She probably already has switched to the other hand on the phone.
David - I have always thought that you have a really nice view out your back door.

Everybody have a terrific Tuesday.

Do they just pull the breasts or are there recipes for whole dove?

The current 2022–2026 Collective Bargaining Agreement between Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association sets the minimum. But some minor league players have individual contracts and get well over $1million/year.

Annual MLB minimum salaries:
2022: $700,000
2023: $720,000
2024: $740,000
2025: $760,000
2026: $780,000

I know how you are talking about. He is considered a defense first backstop. His plus defense is the main reason he has played in parts of four MLB seasons. When it comes to the catching position defense is the most important aspect. This young man checks all the boxes need to be an MLB catcher.
  • Solid defensive catcher with good framing metrics and blocking ability.
  • Quick release and above-average arm strength; capable of controlling the running game.
  • Handles pitchers well and is trusted as a game-caller.
The book on him as a hitter says he has limited power, more of a contact hitter. But! He has put up an OBS of 900 in one of his AAA seasons. In that season he had six homeruns in only 105ABs. He has struggled with MLB pitching, but most young players do.

Considering his contract. well above MLB minimum salary and the fact that the Dodgers traded for him is proof of his potential. He is at the age when he should be nearing his peak. This young man has the potential to be a star! You might want to ask for an autograph!

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those who woke up today!

It's Troy again, happy to be on the green side of the dirt.

Just finished the second grocery run of the week. Seems I purchased a bagged salad for lunches this week, and forgot that I was out of dressing for it. I'm not a rabbit, so I need my 1000 Island dressing.

While I was there I picked up more Teriyaki Marinade. Wife wants pork kabobs tonight, and I found the fresh-cut pre-cubed pineapple containers. So Teriyaki pork and pineapple kabobs, and I'll probably chop up and bake some apples with brown sugar, cinnamon and honey. That means I need to go marinade the pork chunks.

Not much going on today. Need to go get my walk in. Not sure if that will include a MRR podcast, or a Civil War podcast. I listen to both.

Ive done it again. I bought another Lionel Christmas Car. This one is extra special to me.

The Lionel Night Before Christmas Illuminated Boxcar. SKU: 2228140
For many years when my youngest grandson lived with us, I would read the book The Night Before Christmas to him on Christmas Eve before tucking him in bed. When his little brother was born, I sent him a book from Amazon for him to read to his brother. I still have the original.

Morning all,

60° and mostly clear. 78° and a possibility of some rain showers later. Believe them when I see them.

Should have know that just because I feel better doesn't mean hit it on high...lol. I woke up stiff and hurting in places I forgot I had, knees are fine however. Shoulders and hands are a bit stiff. I'll live.

Jaz: It was a good year in Kansas for peaches. No unexpected late frost and lots of rain for a change. I am down to only 1 tree, but it is a self pollinating freestone variety. I did like the looks of what you posted, wish I had the space and time to grow that much. Dad used to grow red currants and gooseberries. Did I also see quince and apricots?
The two apricot trees never did well one died and the other never managed edible fruit
We have a good quince and I have made the jelly:jam but I first made the mistake of eating one raw ! A never to be repeated event worse than self seeded crab apples
When we moved here we hit the self sufficiency path hard anything we could grow and a few not meant for here some struggled sone died sone successes a fig in the polytunnel did far too well and needs removing asap it could tear the plastic and waste over a bay we have two in pots so if it does not survive being torn out it won’t be a major loss
Strawberries do well
so do gooseberries
I have tried Hawthorne berry mixed with blackberry for fruit leathers a lot of faffing but surprisingly tasty
seabuckthorne is tasty - served in posh restaurants but the thornes are vicious
blackberrys self seed endlessly still they taste brilliant (you never saw the chocolate)
we have sorbet berries popular in the Middle Ages just never got around to them
We do hazel nuts and walnuts I grow a peanut now and again because I can and we have a pecan grown from an Xmas pack it is smallish in a sheltered spot never got nuts and stays surprisingly healthy grapes already mentioned must go photograph
A medlar meant to be eaten once it rots after a frost tried it not impressed
Damsons greengage de Nancy many varieties of apple pear inc two types of Asian pear and plum so we get fruit over a long season I can go for a walk and a meal at the same time 😍
