The guys are at work now.

Well, looks like the primer didn't help. The paint is just a bit darker than I wanted, so I'll just attribute it to the dungarees being dyed too dark.

Do you know how to drybrush? Adding a drybush of a lighter blue over the uniforms would help to lighten them.

If not, a quick primer:

Mix a shade shade of that blue slightly lighter. Not a lot lighter, but noticible.

Use a wider (flat) brush. Get a LITTLE paint on the end of the brush. Wipe off 97% of a piece of scrap cardboard. Yes it's wasteful of the paint.

Then wipe it once or twice more on a paper towel. You want barely just a hint of paint coming off the brush.
Wipe the brush on the back of your finger, just to make sure you took enough off the brush.

EDIT: You're trying to hit the raised texture areas of the print/figure. Not the entire cloth of the uniform

If it's your first time drybrushing, wipe it on the paper towel again. You're probably not getting enough off.
Hit another of your fingers with the brush. Just to be sure.

Now lightly apply brush to the model ONLY in downward strokes.

Try to hit ONLY the uniform that you want to be highlighted.

Downward strokes only.

This technique is one of adding a VERY subtle layer. Then adding another subtle layer. And perhaps one more subtle layer.

It is far easier to add a layer, than to repaint the figure because you put too much paint on.

Hold the figure at Arm's Length to see how it looks from 3 foot.

Good morning, it's raining and 66, though the weather app says clear and 68.

I may need to rethink my choice of grocery shopping/delivery. I made my biweekly order for WallyWorld to deliver my usual stuff, adding a small bag of candy corn and a standard bag of Halloween Oreos. I attempted to order a bottle of booze and some egg nog for the holidays, but for some reason, they wouldn't deliver the alcohol to me, at any time or day. I have gotten it delivered before, though the last time I ordered any was in late June, for July 4th festivities.
I did get the Oroes and candy corn, though the unopened bag of Oreos had about a half-dozen cookies in the package, and the candy corn was a melted glob in the bag. It's hard to screw those things up, but they managed, somehow. I am getting a refund for the blob and bag or mostly air, though I wonder about the people shopping and delivering. Anybody could see there was a problem with them, and WallyWorld is basically forcing me to give the driver a tip, unless I want to go in and alter the strongly "suggested" tip amount. I guess I'll need to decide if my not wanting to subject myself to the people of walmart continues to outweigh the hassle of getting unusable stuff delivered.

Good morning from the house. We are home where it’s 53f degrees heading to another beautiful day near 75. This gorgeous weather though will be paid in full I’m sure this winter.

While not as loud as game 2 of the last playoff series last night was intense. Even though the Rays scored 4 in the 1st you could feel the crowd willing the Brewers on. The 2 scored on the bottom of the 1st sure though was helpful. Everyone there knew the game would get tied up eventually! Wow what a bullpen the Brewers have. When Frelick hit the homer in the 6th to finally tie game you knew the win was coming though again the top of the 9th was a nail biter. I don’t see the Rays winning 4 of the next 5 but they play the games for a reason. What a night.

Instead of driving to Racine Terry’s friend brought her suitcase with and we came home last night pulling in just after 1am. Everyone in the booth had a great time and the daughter survived not being able to tailgate 3 hours before game time! If there is a game 6 we have 6 on the 20 seats in the booth, if there is a game 7 we have 14 of the 20. Honestly when Terry said she wanted the tickets and we discussed the price I thought she was nuts. But it has been worth every penny spent and then some. We were in college when Bud Selig purchased the Seattle Pilots out of bankruptcy and moved them to his hometown. Terry with her dad and 3 brothers were at the 1st 2 home games in old County (a dump) Stadium!

We both seemed ok during the game though Terry fell to sleep I think as she was clicking the seat belt. The daughter drove with me shot gun. It took about 30 minutes to get out of the stadium lot onto I94 but traffic while heavy for 10 miles broke up after that. I have learned the last 4 years how I don’t always have to be the driver.

Today I hope Terry is ok but I could see her weakening in the latter innings of the game. She insisted she was well enough to go and there was no sense in arguing about it. We went and she had a great time.

I do have a friend coming over today around 3 to discuss the paper mill project for his PNW based layout. He needs a backdrop for the paper mill and we are going to look to Ai for some help. Basically today he’s getting a lesson on using Ai to create the backdrop. I have a paid version of ChatGPT which I feel is the best illustrator of the Ai assistants I have tried. I will guide and help but he is creating this not me. His daughter was going to paint the scene but the timing is wrong. She is pregnant and bed bound since the 7th month. She and the baby (#2) are doing fine! We can create the scene, save it to a file and the local sign company will print it to size for him.

Here is a picture of the scene I have been co-creating on the Michigan UP layout

Looking good I think

Wow, that's a big difference! I really didn't know what I was looking at before. Looks much better.
Kusojiji lot of work taking out those bushes even with the backhoe. I put out 30 bags of branches and roots for the town to pick up, and we burn up a lot of the bigger branches. I gave the 2 workers doing the pickup $10.00 for their coffee break. Our new neighbor that just bought the house across the street a month ago installs fences and powered gates we may just pay him to do the job. Swal

Today I hope Terry is ok
I do too and I hope she will be fine with rest.
She insisted she was well enough to go
Only she knows how she feels.
no sense in arguing about it.
I think it would have been a waste of time from the little i know.
We went and she had a great time.
Reading that made my day!

The Brewers are the most complete team in my recent memory. They are not Harvey's Wallbangers. I think the 2026 Brewers are even better, their brand of baseball is slump resistant.

"It aint over till it's over" the Rays are resilient, talented and Kevin Cash is an aggressive manager. Not to mention I don't want the season to end!
