44°F and sunny this morning with light wind. High of 57°F today. Halloween is looking pretty good for the kids with a high of 60°F tomorrow. About 55°F by trick-or-treating time.

No kids around here though. All have grown and left their parents homes. Lot of folks my age in the neighborhood with some exceptions.

Nothing going on today. Watching my components I ordered yesterday make their way from Minnesota to Illinois.

The Blue Jays came ready for Blake Snell. They knew he would try to establish his fastball early and they were sitting dead-red. Unfortunately for Snell he was missing his spots. Instead of locating the fastball down and away all three homeruns came off fastballs up and in.
Louis,
Out of curiosity, what weight bat did you use? I'm guessing at your size 34/35oz...or heavier?

Good Morning All. Clear and 39°, but the wind stopped around dusk last night. It did make it to 64° yesterday despite the NW wind averaging over 25 mph all day. Warmer today and the rest of the 10 day forecast. Maybe rain on Saturday, 15% chance.

Back to the regular routine today with the weekly grocery trek, big list already. Additional stops at the pharmacy and the UPS store to send the heart monitor back. I think that I posted a month ago that the electrocardiologist fitted me with one to wear for a month. It picked up one "event" of atrial flutter early on; I don't know of any more. It came with a prepaid UPS envelope to send to a lab in Arizona for a full analysis. I already have an ablation procedure scheduled for December if needed. That's a procedure where they insert a catheter and go find certain cells and destroy them, cells that are causing the flutter. It's done in the hospital and you're generally released the same day, like a stent only a different procedure.
Had another round of PT yesterday, wore me down a bit but I didn't have to take a Tylenol afterwards, so that's good. Last night was the second night in a row that I slept 5.5 hours before the first bathroom run. Typically I go for four hours.
Wife had a doctor's appointment in Denton yesterday and my daughter met her there and dropped the granddog off for a week or so with us while she/SIL head for Austin to visit my grandson in college there. Our 17 year old grandson will be home alone, but will be at school or a golf tournament and can't take care of Mollie. It's being overly cautious since I know from past visits to our house that the dog can go for 12 hours without being let outside. Grandson is a standout on his high school golf team as a junior. Our other daughter who lives about 2 miles away will drive by to ensure that there are no wild parties at their house.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued to paint the handrails on the Walther's GP9U. Second coat on the rear and the left side, and a partial coat on the engineer's side before my eyes started to become crossed. To occupy my time waiting for paint to dry and those rest breaks, I pulled out a structure kit that I had forgotten that I bought. I think that I got it in 2023 at the Plano Train Show. The kit is a Hydrocal kit from Downtown Deco called Addams Ave Part 3.

I love these kits from DD. I have 7 others on the layout already. They're somewhat simple in that they're just 4 Hydrocal castings for the walls, but the detailing in those walls is fantastic. It does take a lot of patience though, to paint them into something remarkable.

All of Randy's kits come with Grandt Line windows and doors.

It will be a bitch however, to trim the clear styrene glass for those arched top panes.
Yesterday, I filed away the excess plaster and primed both sides of the castings with white rattle-can paint from Krylon. This initial sealing coat makes painting them a whole lot easier later.
I assembled the first two walls using Walther's Goo and I am letting it sit overnight. I have found that doing wall assembly slowly works best with these kits.

That seam will be partly filled with Testor's Putty and be further disguised with a scratchbuilt downspout.
The next step will be to attach wall #3 and let it dry overnight again. And I will paint the windows and hopefully start on the glass. I can also work on the signs now to be attached later.

Troy -
I dumped half a bottle of Tamiya Orange plastic cement yesterday.
I hate it when I do that as some invariably spills over the edge of the workbench and on to my pants. And then there is the lingering smell!
Tom O - I have no songs from Springsteen's Nebraska album on my playlist of over 6000 songs on the iPod. I don't know if I posted back in August, that I bought a refurbished iPod to replace my old one that had finally failed. I had 45,000 songs on it but I haven't had the time to load that many on this one yet. I'm still just an old-tech guy. I already have the music, no need to pay for streaming.
Joe - I look at the medical profession as a necessary evil. And from my experience, once you are on Medicare, they game the system because they can do it easily. All under the guise of "Medicare guidelines". The doctor visits increase at least five-fold because they view it as a steady income stream, especially if the patient (me) has supplemental insurance to cover the shortened Medicare payments. My employer insurance scrutinized visits/payments much more closely than Medicare.
As far as what else the NP is putting on the form, in my case there's nothing there that I don't approve of. They post all of that paperwork on my personal health portal on the web and I look it over every time. The whole thing boils down to being able to find a good health care provider to begin with. I still use my same primary care guy, who is now 45 miles away because he moved his office to a more distant town, because I trust him the most. At least he's not too outwardly unscrupulous.

Looks like the Stock Market might be retreating slightly this morning. I'll watch but I will not sell; I made a killing earlier this week already...all on paper though.

Singer Grace Slick of The Jefferson Airplane/Starship is 86 today. I saw her several times in the late 60's and early 70's.
Everyone have a fabulous Thursday.

Doctor's of all people should know better, and if the patient identifies as something else, send to the white room.
Woah. Gender is a personal choice by the individual and has nothing to do with the sex they were born with. Absolutely no need for a white room suggestion

Be careful you and I can easily turn this into something Terry will have to step in on or give me time off because I’m being polite right now

Good morning, all! We awoke to 50 degrees this morning and a high of 70 is predicted, with lots of sun. We don't usually get trick or treaters but we did get a bag of candy just in case. The hobo camp is on a dead end street with 7 other camps, none have young children. Most of the kids go to the large subdivisions.
As to Medicare, so far so good, but with that said I have not been seriously sick or injured. Like Willie, I drive a ways to see my PCP but he is the guy I trust to help me make decisions about my health.
Conductress asked for a Christmas suggestion,

STAY SAFE
LATER

Good afternoon from Wisconsin. It’s been a busy morning both outside and inside the house. Took the wife to the Clinic this morning for a fasting lab blood draw, with the MA questions asked of her but nothing about her gender

After her brief visit we headed to breakfast at the local bar and grill that over feeds you 1/2 of mine came home

Worked on 3 diesels being weathered for shipment next week

Working with Ai to develop the introduction of my fictional railroad the Wisconsin Interstate to its affiliation with the MAC Transportation family of railroads. Think of corporate short line operators like Watco and the Genesse and Wyomingband that’s the fictional model rail road net work. I am the third model railroader’s fictional railroad as Mac Transportation builds a series of interconnecting railroads . I’m working with Ai on a press conference announcing and explaining to post on my fb page that has climbed to over 1800 followers

This afternoon there is no real plans but I’ve been told the day is mine

When I was a kid, we trick-or-treated in our own local neighborhood of about three or four blocks square. We knew, or at least knew of, everyone's houses we visited. Most of those people knew the neighborhood kids by name.

Now, greedy parents 'bus' their kids in to strange neighborhoods where they don't know anyone and the homeowners wonder who these strange kids are. And of course, they take them into, and drop them off into affluent neighborhoods.

It ain't right! Now where is that man yelling at clouds shaking his fist emoji???

Good afternoon folks, 56 and sunny today. Had to take LadyC's Tucson to the tire shop this morning to check for a possible leak. Enjoying a good cup of coffee and watching the news. We grabbed cheeseburgers on the way home, and they were very good, Sonic did a fine job on them. Also filled the tank on the Carnival for 2.38 a gallon.

Where i live there was never any trick or treat going on, too many wild animals around, deer, fox, raccoons, snakes and other forest goodies. So no idiot parents either 😃. This thing would probably scare the little brats also:

She likes to hop on the hood of my car when i back into my driveway.

Just read @RhB Michael 's post about trick or treat. Please stay with your kids WHEREVER they are. I am a retired parole agent who worked sex offenders. Each Halloween we would be working in the field making sure our predators had NO contact with kids on those nights, In 13 years I busted eight child molesters trying to get friendly with kids and they went back to prison immediately. I'm glad to not be working "Operation Safe Spirits" anymore.
