Well nuts. Was testing all the switches on my Unitrack layout and one of my Kato controllers crapped out on me. Of course, no spares on hand. So thankfully just got an email from a dealer I use that it's free shipping on orders over $100 on Halloween. But still gonna call my nearest FHS tomorrow to see if they have one in stock and how much it is. Nuts, it's an hour each way plus the gas.
I just had to buy one last week. The new ones are black instead of blue, and my prices was $11. If you don't want to make the trip, maybe give them an extra 5 bucks to mail it to you.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those who need to have a long chat at a bar,

it's troy again.

Dinner last night:

And, I decided I'd knock out one more model for the old game. The figure in the front rides atop the stone and metal behemoth in the rear. The mechanical/magical stoneforged big boy is about a foot tall on the desk.

these models are slightly bigger than O scale. It's going to be a shift when I go to the other game to paint 1:60 scale.

Today is Laundry day, and I get my ears lowered again. Probably a trip to the hobby store since I dumped half a bottle of Tamiya Orange plastic cement yesterday. Fortunately, the damage was to the rosin paper you see on top of the cutting mat.

Morning all,

45° and partly cloudy with a wind warning for the area until 1:00p. High of 60° later. Frost and freeze warning overnight.

Ethics class was OK as it is more of a refresher.

Got home last evening and the wife was all bundled up. 63° in the house and I flipped the furnace on. We keep it at 69° during the winter and it was just too chilly for me as it's warmer at the office, so on it went. Snowblower goes to the garage this weekend, not that we're expecting anything white to happen anytime soon. It's easier to be ready. Probably winterize the sprinkler system as well.

Got a call from the DR's office and they want to see me in person for the results of the sleep study. Wife thought that sounded ominous, i told her they just wanted to collect another co-insurance payment.

I will list my gender at birth, and either mark N/A or not answer. That is why I don't participate in annual Medicare Wellness visits. They are irrelevant. Especially after the first year of Medicare eligibility. Hell a quick look at what they paid out for will tell them everything they need to know. I know, just me. 🙃
No not just you. The 1st time for a wellness visit for me was ok, the 2nd time I questioned the nurse asking and said I’ve given this last “wellness” visit and grudgingly finished answering her questions. Almost 30 years at the time of health visits and then these questions, stupid. The next year I refused and was told she understood but it was possible for Medicare to deny payment “for lack of info”. No problems so far

Good morning from Wisconsin where it is 42 now and hopefully 57 later. I am having a real life issue with the weather cooling down of temperatures. If I leave in the morning do I pick a jacket for the morning cool or something in the middle so Ai don’t overheat in the afternoon. I tell you, it’s been a difficult the last 10 days. So goes my life.

The movie we saw yesterday was Springsteen: Deliver me from Nowhere. Was it Oscar worthy, doubtful but the guy playing Springsteen my wife says was very good and matched many of his mannerisms and could sing, if they weren’t lip sinker. Movie was good to very good. Somewhat dark in mood as it’s basically his story of childhood abuse by his dad and his depression for 20+ before he sought help. If you like music, even if his fan or not it’s a good enjoyable 2 hour killer.

WILLIE, oh yeah, I remembered the music when hearing it. I guess I never associated the songs with him. One song Nebraska is one I don’t recall but it’s one of the few he did acoustically on a cheap 4 track recorder that he demanded be added to an album. It was about his sorrow (depression) even though he claims till this day he didn’t know it. I looked for it in my usual spots last night but they wanted $$$. I’ll find it on YouTube today.

Crazy busy before and after the movie but nothing note worthy but 1 thing

That became this

Fixed it temporarily and took it to the layout last night to be used for measurements in the scene

We also set the mockups in place for the paper mill and neither of us took pictures. He will now configure where the track goes. I’m the structure builder and will build the paper mill under his guidance but I am not getting involved with the track. We have definite different ideas on that which was very apparent last night. Since he wasn’t asking for advice I happily shut my mouth. The 3 retired train professionals I’m sure will have their say to him on Friday.

Enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Clear and a chilly 48° with the high NW winds still howling outside. Cold weather for the next 2 days, with highs in the low 60's and the overnight lows in the upper 30's. Didn't need a fire in the heater last night, but I will have to start one this afternoon, actually maybe this morning.

The usual household chores yesterday, one of those days that I remember still having the kids around to do most of them. But they all lived here long enough so I don't mind doing these tasks myself now. More of the same today. PT this afternoon.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I did some more painting on the handrails of the GP9U diesel. Rather tedious. As I posted yesterday, I wish that they weren't so difficult to remove so I could have used the air brush. I tried slipping a small screwdriver under the press-fit joints, but I was not successful. Ran trains while I waited for paint to dry.

Alan - I used to do the home to Gulf Shores AL trip in one day, about the same distance as Milwaukee to Birmingham. I have since split the trip up into 2 days. Just not as young as I once was.
Joe - At my PCP's office, the Nurse Practitioner is assigned to do the annual Medicare wellness visits. She knows me well enough to no longer ask all of the "none of your business" questions. She just checks all of the boxes like the last year.

Everyone have a great Wednesday.

Good morning!

52°F and rainy this morning. Rain should continue most of the day here until at least 1600. The talking heads yesterday morning said it was supposed to be raining by 1100 yesterday morning and didn't start until after 2100 last night. These guys can't even make a 12 hour forecast accurately.

Running trains today but not until after lunch. Have some Bitburger on tap for this afternoon to go along with the German, Swiss, and Austrian trains too. Can't wait to see how my problem child, Rh2070 is going to perform.

Have a great Autumn day everyone!

Some great baseball last night! Some good old fashioned "hit'em where they aint" as Wee Willie Keller used to say.

Add a 2-run homerun, some good pitching and defense. And we got a ball game!

A few things I found to be interesting.
1. Shohei Ohtani is human. His legs wore down with each inning he pitched. It's no wonder after reaching base nine times the night before. The big fella likes to get plenty of sleep. After playing a 6-hour and 39-minute marathon game the night before I wonder how much sleep he got? I know starting pitchers like to have their routine between starts, no way anyone would include that! I give the big fella a lot of credit for pitching 6 quality innings. He would have been better off to have not come back to pitch the seventh. Hindsight is always 20-20.

2. Former Cy Young winner Shane Bieber pitched well for the Blue Jays. After his arm troubles the Blue Jays picked him up for song and I know they are happy they did! I know I was happy for him.

3. The Dodgers catcher Will Smith caught the entire game. Which surprised me considering he caught the entire 18-inning game the night before. My legs hurt just thinking about it!

There was plenty more, but I'll spare you the details.

Game five tonight!

In case you are wondering who Wee Willie was:

That WAS a great game. Will Smith is a machine to be able to play that many innings. I knew this was going to be a great series.

I want to give a shout out to Kevin Tully at Tully Models (Steel Mill Models Supply), for his outstanding customer service. I wanted to buy his wood deck truck scale, but it was too large for my modeling era. "No problem", he had the size I wanted, on his web site, by this morning. Ordered and on the way.

When I get ready to go down the rabbit hole and build a highly detailed grain mill, his site is where I will go. It will lesson the painful, time consuming, scratch building process I thought I would have to take.
