This is not a little switcher though, it's about the size of the old ALCo RS3.
The Front view looked like that engine I posted, but it was about the size of the engine below, with 4 axles. We were in a bus traveling past.

Good day to all............

Willie said : Tomorrow will be more relaxed, with a stop in Gulfport MS for lunch and to visit Traintastic, a model railroad museum there. Then another 130 miles to Gulf Shores AL where we can't check in until 4:00. Got a dinner reservation here for 6:30, so I need to go now.

I have a friend of mine who goes to the "Cruisin the Coast" event every year in Gulfport. I think the event ended on Oct 12, but my friend and his wife usually stay for a month as they have some other "car nut" friends there.
When I was married, my ex had some family in Ocean Springs. We used to go there for Christmas then on to Alabama to see her parents. Back then, we usually took one night to hit a bunch of "local" bars from Gulfport-Biloxi-Ocean Springs. My ex had once lived in Ocean Springs and had some old friends there. That was before gambling was allowed (for a second time) and there were no casinos then, just a pretty laid back atmosphere. I enjoyed those times. I'm guessing that was about 1982 thru 1984.
Have a good trip my friend.

Everyone have a great afternoon-evening.
Gotta git to work..........John

Your first freight locomotive with the blue band is a Br.189, and your red locomotive is a Br.193 Siemens Vectron. The orange shunting locomotives are Vossloh 1000s.

And for those counting the BR 189 is a Siemens ES 64 F4, a multi country freight version in the EuroSprinter family. It is also outfitted to do passenger service but seldom does. Other countries use the ES 64 FE including Switzerland as the Re 474 and Poland as the EU45.

(Same family as my favorite, the “Taurus” ES 64 U/U2/U4 which are the BR 182 and BR 183).

I mention this here as the Amtrak ACS-64 City Sprinter locomotives are in the same family. Yet another European derivative used in the US.

And in Poland they got the nickname "Husarz" (Hussar) , a horse mounted heavy cavalry soldier. Small correction though; it's EU44 in Poland.

Tom,
I just found another graffiti photo from our trip.

Michael and Louis,
I forgot to also mention that beer and wine were included with all meals. The included beer was Bitburger Pilsner.:)

I did sample some of the local Bavarian Pilsners when I had the time. I don't remember the names, but there is a big difference in fresh beer.View attachment 244859
Thanks, these will also go in the file

Cool pic.

Both Wikipedia and this site seem to call it EU45 (the BR 189/ES 64 F4)

It seems the EU44 is the EuroSprinter family member ES 64 U family. The Taurus ones.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with handles,

It's troy again

Wife wanted italian for lunch

I had the all-meat and cheese calzone. She had baked spaghetti. That's three meals on one plate for her, and two meals for me on mine.

Cancelled the tournament for next weekend. That means I'm out of gaming responsibilities. From now on, I only play in the tourneys, and I won't run them. One dude is already pressuring me to run a tourney in April. Sorry. Not my job any longer. Here's all the buildings and trees and rocks you 3D printed to use in the tourney. I'm not storing them....

Off to the dentist tomorrow, to get the fuzzy sweaters removed from my teeth. I'm using my SonicCare Toothbrush daily right now, trying to keep up with the crud. It always seems to come back with a vengance about 4 to 5 months after a cleaning.

Good Evening All. Safe and sound here in Gulf Shores AL. It's clear and 81°; back home it's clear and 76°. Still expecting 90° back there tomorrow before returning to normal late October conditions. Trip today was uneventful and slower...speed limits are a bit lower in MS & AL, and enforcement is more prevalent.
Great visit to Traintastic in Gulfport MS, even though they have strayed a bit from their original mission of just model trains. They now have an event center nearly the size of a basketball court for kiddie birthdays and other events. But his new location, open for 3 years now, has much more room for layouts that have been in storage that wouldn't fit in the old place.
Can't stay and chat right now, since we're meeting Arlene's sister, husband and some other friends for dinner.
See y'all later.
