Good Morning All. Clear and 64°, another beautiful day in store here. Rain has been added to tomorrow's forecast, maybe hitting just about the same time that we are leaving. It has also been added towards the end of next week. We'll see if anything happens.

Yesterday's short trek into the grocery store went OK, I spent less than $75 which hasn't happened in a long, long time. Filled the car with gas, using my 80¢/gal discount. Regular was $2.49 all across town. Interesting time at the hearing aid place, as we couldn't get the phone app to work at all. Finally went to the Bluetooth settings on the phone and discovered that the app was picking up another customer's hearing aids as well as mine and it was confused. Had to ask her to turn hers off while the tech worked on mine. They're now 95% fixed, but the last 5% will require the RH one to be sent to the shop. Not happening right now. It's just a minor irritant to make an adjustment to the background mode on the phone that should be automatic when I turn them on.
Today I'll be loading the car up with all but the stuff going into the cooler. I still have a couple of toiletry items to pack, but I'll need them first thing in the morning after showering. Otherwise I'm good to go. Everything else inside and out is ready. Tomorrow I will turn off the icemaker in the fridge since we always turn off the water and water heater when we leave town.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I just worked a little bit with the band figures that I posted about last month. I started with the drummer. Either I lost his stool or it didn't exist to begin with, so I needed to fabricate a new one. I used a piece of sprue and a piece of styrene rod.

I carefully cut 2 thin slivers of sprue and drilled a hole for the rod.

Painted it and set it aside to dry. I managed to glue the arms/instruments on the guitarist, fiddler and band leader, and positioned the accordion player without gluing yet. Double bass is giving me issues right now.

Everyone needs to get their hair painted and some minor touchup is needed on all of them.

Never mind the blue fingers. Still need to add the drumsticks and make that whole setup. I think the fiddler's bow is a bit oversized, but it's too late now to fix that. Thought about naming the band "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band", but I can't paint that on the bass drum face!
Stay tuned.

Chad - That's a real drag regarding the interview. I hope that the recruiter understands and gives you another chance. Good luck.
Tom O - Can't say that I was a KISS fan either.
Joe - Good luck with the therapy.

Everyone have a fabulous Friday.

John - If possible, I would seek out the previous preparer and tell them that they were accused of committing fraud. They might possibly review what the new guy prepared for you to clear their name; and assist in filing an amended return if the new guy is wrong. If the new guy is right, then the newly filed return will trigger the IRS computer to look at past returns and you might be liable for additional taxes and penalties.
I am trying to put this fiasco with the new tax guy behind me and move on, hoping all will be well with the I.R.S.
The lady that did my taxes before for 6 years or so had to leave the firm she was with due to husbands health issues and a daughter dealing with life issues. Shortly after she left, I received a letter from the "firm" that said they were no longer doing individual tax returns due to lack of staff so I would have to find another book keeper/CPA to do my taxes. So, I am kinda "high and dry" on getting any info or a second opinion. Not many book keepers out here in the sticks and if I found one, I'm sure they would want to charge me for their time. I'm going with Turbo-Tax next year and hope for the best. I do have the home phone number for the lady who did my taxes last year and I may give her a call to try and determine her approach to calculating my taxes. However, I've got other more pressing things to do right now and I would like to just pay my self employment taxes and forget about dealing with the new guy and put all this bs behind me and move on.
Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions......John

66°F/56°F today. It will be the warmest day of Oktober so far here at a forecast high of 84°F.

They are confident we will see rain tomorrow. I can't disagree. There is even the slight possibility of a localized severe thunderstorm or two. The charts seems to confirm this. I'll be watching for mesoscale discussions issued later today, but probably won't be any until very early tomorrow morning after midnight. We could see up to 2" of rain from this system which will only leave us with a 3" deficit.

Highs for at least the next week will be in the mid-60s to mid-70s, but mostly in the 60s. Autumn might finally arrive tomorrow.

Nothing going on today. I was busy preparing for colder weather all day yesterday so didn't get over here until late in the day. Swapped all of my summer shirts for winter sweaters and flannel and ran them all through the wash. That kept me busy for awhile. Took care of some other cold weather odds and ends. Insulated my new water heater, checked the windows for air leaks, etc.

Have a good day everyone. Servus!

I saw this in the news this morning.
I don't think this violates any political policies as it is not about one particular party but is about a topic that could raise shipping costs and that affects us all............especially with the high prices we are already paying as it is :

The United Nations is poised to vote this week on TAXING AMERICANS.

That’s right — the ruse this time is the so-called “NZF”. That’s the Net Zero Fund, which is a word-salad smokescreen designed to hide what it really is.

It’s effectively a TAX, levied against international shipping, based around (say it with me…) reducing global carbon dioxide emissions.

The reality of it is that Americans would be TAXED by the United Nations — and not in small ways that might go unfelt.

If passed, this vote would directly effect the price of everyday life in America, by increasing the price of everyday goods.

There’s no other way to say it — it is a TAX on the American people… by an international body of globalists!

Thankfully, President Trump isn’t having any of it. In fact, he is ‘OUTRAGED’ and completely slammed the entire thing.

Good Morning All!
35F @ 87% foggy but no white.

If you have T.Ts or Tires your gonna have trouble. 55 to 60Mph vibration is usually an out of balance tire. Roundness is 28Mph to 35ish. That is if I remember correctly...

When I worked with Dad in the late 60's he did frame and alignment stuff. At that time there were only bias-ply tires. One of my jobs was to deal with tires. Had a 'Bear' tire balancer of which you would knock out that rear bearing, then attach a shaft in the wheel attached to the drum, and put it in the machine. Absolute 1st thing you did was to remove all those small pieces of gravel from the tread. Roundness happened first. Since alignment happened after tires, we had a pointer that you could mark the center of the tire while hand spinning it for toe-in use. If that point came off the tire more than 1/8", out of round and needed to go to the tire lathe. After that, static balance. Spin the tire slightly then wait for it to land. When it landed you chalked the tire at its top close to the rim. Then, spin it 180 degrees and let it go. The speed of the down rotation determined the amount of weight to add to BOTH sides at your mark. Sounds fun doesn't it? Dynamic balance now - turn the machine on, tire spins at 60Mph. Now you know why the gravel needs to go. Put your fingers on the machines two shaft bearings and watch the spark-gap indicator. Spark is where there is to much weight on the one side or the other and location of tire. Turn off machine. Then rotate the tire until the spark ..um.. sparks - you have your weight location 90 degrees from top. You gauge the weight you are gonna pound on by how strong the vibration is/was; left vs right. Ya, got pretty good on removing those weights and try try again. Watching the tire guys now days shows that it is pretty much the same thing, except more safety orientated and the weight locations and amounts are digital...

Sorry, didn't mean to ramble - haven't though about those times in my teen years for ... years!

Truck is a 2007 Chevy Classic, WT1500, short bed, with right at 150,000 miles.....mid sized V8 with automatic trans. Runs like a top and uses about 1 qt of oil in 9000 miles. I use Mobile One Full Synthetic and change oil and filter every 10 thousand miles.
Mechanic has checked all front end components (wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rod ends, etc). U-joints are OK. U-joint was my best guess for problem but not so. New tires were put on about 6 months ago but I had the vibration with the old tires. New tires were balanced at tire shop and my mechanic had taken my truck to local tire shop and had balance checked.....all were OK. Vibration does not occur when brakes are depressed, just that window of speed between 55 and 65 mph. I feel sure the mechanic checked the balance weight on the drive shaft, but if that weight has come off, the vibration should persist and get worse above 65 mph.
The mechanic is determined to find the cause but is running out of ideas.

It seems my issues are never simple.
What brand and model tires do you have? I know some tires are rounder than others, and your issue sure sounds like a tire or wheel problem. I’ve also seen a small handful of vibration problems caused by severely out of balance rotors, the type of Chineseum parts you’d get somewhere like Autozone or even Amazon.

I am surprised that DOT is not pulling him in at ALL weigh stations - can he really see out that front window? Wipers work? How much sh.t falls off going down the road? Kinda Mad Max in our time...

Maybe he's got everything welded on. But hey, he was in what one my closest friends refers to as "The armpit of America"-New Jersey.
