Thanks to all for your input.

The "Sole Proprietors" package looks like it would work for me ($219.00). I am a one man show, a DBA (Doing Business As) and again I only work about 5 months out of the year. We have no state fees in Texas on filing federal taxes. I'll just stick with the guy I talked with yesterday. Maybe next year I'll try the TurboTax package. He said he would have my return done on Monday, Oct 13, and he could file electronically.
I sure wish the lady that was doing my taxes before had not left the business. Hard to find good help these days.

It is not hard; it guides you step by step. If I can do it, I know you can.

I don't like to use the word hate, but I hate taxes!

Amazon is your friend! They offer deep discounts on Turbo Tax. Keep checking for prices and if i see a deal I will try to remember to tell you.

My late sister had a master's degree from the University of Baltimore. Unbelievably she did tax work for $50/hour and seldom if ever charged for more than an hour. She said "people can't afford more" bless her heart. She was a great lady.

I was a college dropout working as an independent industrial mechanic. I charged $150 to show up and $75/hour. This was 1995. I was, as my cousin put it, "A cold hearted calculating bastard, but in a good way" Bethlehem Steel was one of my best customers, they didn't blink an eye at my prices.

Ok. It’s still not the software. It’s the human help. “Live Business” service.

Good day to all on the MRF................

It is just a bit past High Noon here in west Texas. High temp forecasted for today to be 89 degrees and 90 for the next 3 days.. My outside temp gauge shows 95.

My outside cat has, I guess, moved on to new horizons. He has been AWOL for 5 days now. So, I have not set out any food and the outside food deal is what was causing the racoons to come by and make a mess. I haven't reset my trap since racoon #4 bit the dust. Looks like no outside cat food equals no more racoons. Problem solved.

A trip into town today to the grocery store. Tyson whole chickens for 97 cents a pound and I need a few standard refill items.
I'll need to get garbage together and drop it off on my trip.

Maybe some time back in the train room and try to install 2 turnout servos that I started over a week ago. The Walthers parts that were missing from my stock yard kit arrived yesterday in good condition. I also received the 99.9% IPA I ordered and I may try soaking some tender shells in the stuff to remove unwanted numbers and lettering.
I am waiting on some washers for my 2-8-0 drive gear repair. They are supposed to be here next Wednesday. I'll post some pictures later on, probably in a different thread on my attempt to repair the Bachmann loco.

Willie : Your trek to the grocery store et al sounds like my everyday routine. I would not know what to do if I didn't encounter a "speed bump" or two, in my day to day activities.

Time to get moving.
I hope you are enjoying your Friday........John

Everybody remembers Kirk Gibson' s two‑run, walk‑off home run in game one of the 1988 World series. How could we forget Gibson limping around the bases pumping his fist in that now‑legendary gesture.

What many don't remember was Tommy Lasorda calling on Gibson to pinch hit. It was Gibson's only plate appearance of the entire Series.

Not trying to argue with Louis. We're just talking about two different things. The "TurboTax Business" for "S-corps, C-corps, partnerships, multi-member LLCs, trusts, and estates" is $190 for the software. It includes 5 free federal e-files. State e-filing is extra/

This is for the person who wants to do their own. Or has an accountant friend etc who will help them.

the one Louis was talking about for $739 is their "Live Business" and includes on demand human help. They seem to have an even more expensive one where they just do it for you. He also quoted that one (which I had not seen).

Good afternoon gang.

Pretty uneventful trip down to North Carolina this morning. We did find a new wrinkle in the trip consisting of an easy way to avoid the Baltimore beltway. As Louis can probably tell you the West side of the beltway is a royal cluster first thing in the morning. We just took route 32 straight down through Howard County and reunited with Route 95 Almost halfway between Baltimore and DC. All at 55-65 mph instead of bumper to bumper traffic!

Waiting for the kids to get home from school then the fun starts!!!

It's been almost a month since I lasted posted a link to one of my music pieces I'm doing using genAI. Prog, prog metal, jazz fusion inspired instrumentals. I've done some since the last link but don't want to spam the Coffee Shop so just put one here every once in a while.

If you do go listen, please hit the LIKE button (if you don't mind it). The channel is attracting anti-AI zealots who don't even listen and just hit DISLIKE after 3 seconds and move on. And they go down the channel's complete list of videos and just dislike all of them. Watching analytics you can see it come in waves. I don't really care what people think, but these fake DISLIKE do affect the YouTube "algorithm".

And remember, AI music can be fun and engaging, but it doesn't replace the real thing. Support your favorite artists, musicians, songwriters, etc by going to see them live, buying their albums, and their merch.

Good evening. It's partly cloudy and 80.
There is a mandatory meeting Monday at 9 AM for all remaining employees to meet with the new owners. Let's hope for the best. While I can drive professionally, with the traffic in this area, I'd rather not...

We are all hoping for the best for you. The fact that you are still a remaining employee, I have to take as a good sign.

I am the only remaining hourly employee in our department. I work on the stuff that takes a long time, but doesn't pay anything. this allows the flat-rate employees to continue on, while I deal with the things that would bog them down and keep them from making a living. We'll see if the new company agrees this is a good practice.

Yeah, I hope someone sees the value of good work ethics and willingness to go the extra mile for the company. Is there any management left from the old company that can vouch for you?
