Good afternoon to all.............

Again, am I missing something here? Why are photos being posted upside down? I just skip those.

Racoon #3 is in the trap. By 6 pm he will be "expired". I guess stress or panic is just too much for these guys to endure for any length of time. He was in the trap at midnight last night. "and another one bites the dust".

Still getting tax crap organized. This has spilled over to 2025 stuff being organized also, besides the 2024 receipts and just throwing away some old mail. What a PITA !

Gonna have to change my Medicare package as United Healthcare has raised my monthly premium way past what I am willing to pay.
If I lived in Dallas Tx, there is NO extra premium costs for the exact same PPO package I have. I pay $62 a month extra.
In Dallas, there are hundreds of doctors across the city to choose from and they are nearby the consumer.
In west Texas, I have to go 65 miles (one way to Wichita Falls)) to see a doctor and there is only a handful of different specialists to choose from there. So I go to Abilene Texas which is 90 miles (one way) and that city is also considered out of network, so I get to pay $55 co-pay instead of just $20.
Seems folks in Dallas should pay a premium for all the "extras" they enjoy while folks in west Texas should pay a $0 premium because they don't have crap to choose from in the way of doctors or specialists. When the CEO of a major health insurance company receives a 10 million dollar bonus for one year there is something very wrong. Wonder what kind of payment the stock holders received?

Got a package from Bachmann parts today. They included a coupon for 10% off my next parts order. The coupon expired on Sept 30, 2025. Seems about right for me.

I noticed ground beef was around $9.00 a pound when I was at the store the other day. I mentioned to the manager that I would have never imagined that hamburger would be at that price. The manager told me to hold on, there is another increase coming soon. Only a month ago I was able to buy a 3 pound tube of 80-20 ground beef for $9.50.

If Social Security used the increase in ground beef prices over this year as the basis for the COLA increase, we ( those drawing s.s. ) would all get a nice raise.

Oh well, live goes on

Everyone have a great evening........John

I have a meat grinder, so I buy the whole chuck roast for $3.99/lb and make my own. Pork loin is on sale this week for the same price, so I got a whole one and will make my own ground pork as well. Didn't look at pork shoulders this week, but they're usually around $1.99/lb.

Hello all. Last day of vacation but there's still the weekend ahead. Monday-heehawing around with my old car: one headlight was dim and i had to solder in a new (old plug) that i've had in my parts bin. After that glueing back the headliner on the sunroof. On Tuesday i took a friend from Philadelphia an drove him to the Newark International (EWR). While in Philly i spotted a freight on Delair Branch so a tried to chase it and managed just two shots:

The train came in from New Jersey and is heading towards Frankfort Junction on former Pennsy. Next shot i just made it as the lead unit is passing Frankford tower on Northeast Corridor.

Anyone ever seen a Santa Fe electric locomotive:

I wonder how many cans of red spray paint that took. Morris Junction tower:

And a "monster cat" greeting me late at night after the trip:

Wednesday until today i was actually working on my layout doing the scenery. Tomorrow...if i wake up, early run maybe to see Western Maryland 2-6+6-2 in western part of Maryland. I just have to get up early for that.

It is a shame that they are left to rot, but the signal boxes are great reference for weathering

have to change my Medicare package
I was told that when I turn 65, I need to get medicare plan b in order to keep tricare. I talked with my buddy who is 75 and he said that I don't need medicare with the tricare that is offered out here. That was great news since being overseas, I cannot use medicare. That would have been a $185/mo waste of money.

Other good news from the same buddy is that retirees no longer require the Yokosuka base automobile decal. The decal is normally required to drive your car onto the base. If no decal, then have to go to the main gate pass office and get a temporary pass. That would have been a royal pain in the arse, especially if going to the hospital. Now that they don't require the decal for the retirees (just show my retiree ID card), that also means that I don't have to register my car on base every March to get the decal. Super duper!

Covid shot is making my immune system wake the F up. Those white blood cells are kicking arse and taking names.
That is a good thing, in the long run, not so good in the short term. I hope you feel better.

I'm with you, if the doctors recommend the vaccine, I get it. I have a half dozen chronic health problems. Any one of which puts me at risk. I'm not taking any chances. My wife doesn't have any chronic health problems, and she gets all the recommended vaccines as well. Better safe than sorry.
Supposedly that was a way they caught German and Italian spies during wwII, they would observe them eating with utensils.
Another giveaway of continental Europeans is the way they show the number two on their fingers. They use the thumb and index finger. For three they use the thumb, index finger, and middle finger.

FYI: Baseball players use the index finger and little finger for the number two. It is easier to see from a distance. One is the index finger, no need for three, inning over.
Don't tell Bobby Jr.
I told my wife before we got married, it was an expensive, and time consuming hobby.
Are there any inexpensive hobbies? If they are not time consuming, are they truly hobbies?
The plus is, you will know exactly where I am on nights and weekends.
That is exactly what I told my daughter and my daughter-in-law when they complained about their husbands playing video games. My youngest daughter wishes her husband had a stay-at-home hobby.
Still getting tax crap organized.
You and me both!

and yeah, that's my Kato ABe 8/12 in pieces again. All attempts to fix it have failed. May try to fix it again after I'm drunk tonight... haha

Sometimes that works. Part of my initiation while in the Navy was to get trashed and go to work the next day. Work on stuff, fix them, and then go celebrate again and again and again. That's highly frowned upon now, but it was a lot of fun back then.

Good morning. It's clear and 71.
I pulled my Mac Pro out of mothballs, and am updating Windoze to its last version for Win 10. The thing works great, though the time is fast approaching where I need to make some decisions about what to do with it. I'll probably run some hacks, and put the latest version of OSX and Win11 on it, and keep using it as a backup machine.

Annd in the grand tradition of M$, when I closed my web browser, I got a full-screen popup that I couldn't close telling me all about Win 10's end of support. But--if I want to give up more of my privacy, I can enroll in extended security updates for another year...

Good morning, Everybody!

My wife had a follow up with her doctor for double pneumonia yesterday. Both lungs sound clear, the antibiotic worked! She is cleared to get off the couch. "Katy bar the door" it is on now!

The lab work showed no covid or flu. The infection was caused by bacteria not included in any of the pneumonia vaccines. At best t
he best vaccines only cover twenty-five known bacteria. The vaccines target the worst and the ones that have become antibiotic resistant.

My blood pressure wasn't good enough to go to work this morning. So, I'm doing easy stuff around the house. Nothing to worry about, fatigue caught up to me, and I had a bad night. rapidly losing fluid, I'll say no more.

My glucose was only 62 this morning, which I consider good because I bought coconut coffee creamer (not sugar fee) at Aldi for just such an occasion. At this stage of my life this is how I get wild.

Beef prices... I just read that the average retail price of beef is now $9.69 per pound, the highest ever recorded. A "perfect storm" has led to this, stuff happens. For some reason I am liking chicken more and more! I can even make chicken taste good with Shake-n-Bake. Thank God we have choices.
Which reminds me, I picked up another beautiful smoked ham, butt-portion, for $0.99/pound at Giant Foods (local grocery chain) they also once again had 70/30 ground beef for $3.99/pound. I passed on that; I have plenty in the freezer. No way was I passing up that ham!
I can't wait until my wife makes boneless, skinless fried chicken. With mayonnaise and dill pickles it makes a great sandwich with the leftovers.
I wonder what we will have for dinner today. I may have a diminished appetite, but I still love to eat! Thank God I eat so well.

Have an enjoyable day Everybody!
So I just made these again.
Fantastic work, I love them Cujo!
