My brother calls me up and tells me that after they ate at Mickey D's, I think in Tokyo, they left and stepped onto the sidewalk from the main entrance (a lot of places are like that). A girl on a bike, who was hauling, avoided him and almost hit his wife. She crashed, immediately got up and started yelling at them with her hand out. Of course, my brother and wife didn't know what she was saying. An old guy helped them and told them that she wanted money for the accident. When the girl figured out that they don't habla and I think the old guy told her she was in the wrong, the girl left.

I told my brother that pedestrians have the right of way and that she should not have been hauling a@@ on a sidewalk. I told him to look for a blue triangle sign that will say if bicycles are not allowed on the sidewalk at all. A man only, no bikes. A man and a small bike, then they are allowed, but the ped has the right of way.

Anyway, I told them to leave the area, but they had already done so. Next time that happens, make like you are having a heart attack and have your hand sticking out. :)

My buddy told me that a taxi driver came flying and ran over a cat. He immediately stopped (of course this happened a long time ago, now they wouldn't care), asked him if he was ok, he said yes. Asked a lady next to him if she was ok, she said she was shaking, etc. The taxi driver handed her 10000 yen and left. Then my friend didn't feel too good haha.

Good morning all. A dull, cloudy day with rain forecast later.
A large coffee and blueberry muffin please, Flo.

Dawn has been unable to walk for a few days and has stayed in bed. Today she has ventured downstairs. I am proud how she has coped against the pain she has endured.

I had a productive day in the train room yesterday.

I love the cooler weather. I've been called an eskimo or polar bear before. I finally went on a walk today. About 3 miles up and down hills, did stairs when I found some, and took 45 mins.

Going to have to make it a routine. Or poutine...

I’m currently sitting outside of the place I work. We start at 8, and I only live 17 miles away, but if I wait until 7:30 to leave for work, I’ll get here at 9 or later. Leave at 7, get here at 8:15. If I leave at 6, I can be here by 7, most days. For some reason, I left today at 6, and got here at 6:25.
Traffic is that unpredictable and bad where I now live. They should have made the two lane highway four lanes before I left this area in 2008, and they still haven’t done it. Funds for widening the road were diverted to other programs I can’t talk about because politics.

Good morning all!

Happy Friday!

Going to be a warm one today. Currently 56F but the high is supposed to hit 90F. If we do hit 90F it will be a record high.

Usual Friday chores around the house today. Have to get my running done early as Homecoming parade and activities start at
2:30pm. Town will be a mess.

Volleyball last night was a win for us. We totally destroyed them in 2 sets.

Have a safe day everyone!

Ugh there peeps

It's troy

Covid shot is making my immune system wake the F up. Those white blood cells are kicking arse and taking names.

Woke up at 2:30 for a pee run with a very sore arm. I gambled and got it in my left arm, since the tetanus was in my right. I was afraid of the immune system waking the tetanus back up while it fought the covid one. And I sleep LEFT side down. so no more sleepy sleep.

Based on past experience, I should be done with the headache and blah feeling before dinner. A nap is planned once I get the laundry done.

If you need me, I'll be napping.

Good morning. It is 60f degrees going to 88!

The UW Badgers beat the Fightin Illini last night in Volleyball on campus. The 8th sweep of 3 sets in a row for the ladies. The team is now 10-1 with 9 straight wins. They are getting better as this young team starts to understand each other. Tonight at 7pm it’s the #1 ranked and defending NCAA champs opening home game on the ice at the LaBahn arena on campus. The 8th unfolding of a Championship banner and 5th one we will attend. It’s always been a neat event and I know my friend, the Coach is very proud of last year but looking forward to this season’s challenge. He has 6 Olympian’s on the team, 4 USA, 1 Canadian and 1 European and they will miss most of February this season.

Again today I’d like to spend another hour or so in the train room working on the layout. Yesterday I installed my 3 Blue Point switch machines under the layout in the section of track being worked on. Yesterday I also masked and clear coated another of my diesels. That’s 3 clear coated and it’s amazing when the sheen is removed from how much better they already look. Not sure when I will start the actual weathering though.

The Cubs won yesterday and move on to play the Brewers Saturday in Milwaukee. I’m torn on who I’d like to see win. This former Chicago kid or the Wisconsin adult. 20 years growing up rooting for all Chicago teams or the 53 years watching Brewers, Packers and Bucks rooting for them. It was tough in 1986 realizing after the Bears won the Super Bowl after the 85 season I didn’t love them as before. My only forever team is the Black Hawks

Have a great day

Good Friday morning to you all. 71°F/65°F here today. Dewpoint is higher than they said it should be, but is supposed to be falling slightly as the air heats. Summer refuses to let go here, and for much of the rest of the Midwest as well.

Today is Reunification Day celebrated across Germany as East and West Germany were once again integrated into one country. Many details were still to be worked out, but officially, East Germany no longer existed as of midnight.

Good Morning All. Clear and 66° here in North Central Texas. No change in our forecast of mild and dry, except they have revised all of the high temperatures down to the upper-80's after today. Not a big deal!

Grocery trek yesterday was uneventful, gas prices in town seemed to have stabilized around $2.54/gal. That will go up next week when I have to fill up again! On the subject of shopping, a couple of months ago, the Sam's Club that we normally use, removed all but 5 check-out lanes. We now shop by scanning items as we put them in our basket, using the phone with their app on it, and just walk out of the store without even being checked out by the person at the exit. While I still don't like doing their job, I have found that it is actually more convenient. That carried over to their gas pumps which I used Tuesday when I picked up my hearing aid there. You just scan a QR code at the pump, fill up and drive off. No need to scan your credit card or anything else. Just one scan and you're done! While this is all good, I'm still not on board with folks being forced into a "cashless society". The rest of the day was small task oriented, laundry load and fix supper, plus stuff that I forgot.
Today will start with the unrelenting dishwasher, a chore that I would willingly trade off. But my wife will only trade with cleaning the bathrooms, so I am stuck! At least the dishes are clean.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I installed the KD #146's on the last two new SD40-2's, and ran them with some trains like the other 2 pairs. One of the 6 that I got, runs a slight bit faster than the other 5, so it will be a lead locomotive in it's lash-up. While these will be mostly used on through trains from end of the layout to the other end, I will occasionally use a pair for switching. Normally I use my four axle power CF7's or GP35's for that, but occasionally I use six axle power, primarily the aged SD45's. The GP40X's, GP50's and GP60's are occasionally used for switching, but are normally used on through manifest freights, while the fleet of Dash9-44CW's are normally used on unit trains, grain, intermodal, vegetable oil or ethanol.

Vaccinations - I tend to have a rather good immune system to begin with. But I got the first two Moderna Covid shots and the first booster and stopped there. Many of my offspring and families got more boosters, but everyone of them came down with Covid, some more than once. I never got it, but then I think one of the reasons was my isolation out here in the boonies and them all living in the city. I have never had a flu vaccine and I have never gotten the flu. I regularly get a tetanus shot, and only got one pneumonia shot in 2022. That's the only year that I ever got pneumonia, so never again!
Chad - We had a mountain lion roaming our area a few years back, I have several pictures of it that I took while walking on a few different occasions. It would always run away if it spotted me. I saw it a few times that I didn't have time to take a picture also. Snakes are an every day occurrence around here, but none of the species are poisonous. They also head in the other direction when they think that I am a threat.

Singer/Guitarist/Composer for Fleetwood Mac, Lindsey Buckingham is 76 today. The late guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan was born on this day in 1954.
Everyone have a great Friday, and a fine weekend as well.

In time they will
1. Have checkers to try ensure people scan ALL items
2. Accept people are not accidently not scanning items usually expensive ones
3. They get around the weighing scale supposedly recognising the weight for set items
4. Eventually bring bag people because of lost (stolen) profits
Atm every aisle is littered with part eaten or drunk food, people pick it up meal deals etc shop and eat or drink and dump the ‘empties’ before they reach the tills, many seem to think it’s a perk.
The staff now say they could spend so much time walking back forwards they they have been told to ignore it and do there job, but that just encourages it more :(

The way you post is assume the way you write, which is always amusing, I bet you get repeat readers, just to get the smiles.

You need a pillow, a sleeping bag, and an alarm clock, so you can have a nap, or at least stay warm without running the car, until work start time, for colder weather I suggest a flask of warm drink. Maybe a snack too just in case you break down, god forbid. Packet of jerky or nuts.
Maybe a comb ….grins…..
