Morning all,

Partly cloudy and 63° with clearing skies and highs in the mid-80's later.

Chad: Glad stuff is still moving along. It always seems to take forever for companies to make decisions. I was out of work for 8 months and had just accepted an offer at a local grocery store as unemployment ran out before I got hired here. Lots of recruiters sending invites for jobs, but then crickets once applied to. In my case, I think it was age, but proving it is a different matter.

Karl: Happy Anniversary to you and the Mrs. And I thought me and the wife driving 120 miles one way to see a grandkids game was long. I know the grandson appreciates you seeing him play (At least he will when he gets older).
I had an old boss when I worked in the window and glass businesses in the 70’s and 80’s. He was a vicious cheap boss that thought yelling and name calling got things done. He did treat me fine except for pay. Anyway, an Insurance company Sentry Insurance purchased Crestline Windows 1981. About 18 months later they fired my now old boss as I switched management positions. A few months later I left the company and about 3 months later the old boss is in my office asking if I heard he was fired because of his age. Truthfully I had not. Months later I’m at a business meeting and I was talking to my replacement at Crestline regarding a deal our companies had made. He went on and on about how he started telling upper management (he named names) how the old boss was losing it and got him fired because he was too old and couldn’t adapt. That bothered me and Terry thought I should talk to the old boss. Well I had his attorney’s name and card and called them. About a year later the old boss is sitting again in my office and handed me a voucher for a 6 night stay in New Orleans all paid for. They had he said a very nice settlement that he had to keep private. It was a thanks because he had no proof until a few drinks loosened up the talker

Age discrimination is a tough one to win but can be

These people in Canada seem to have it and they seem to ship to Switzerland. Note that the price is Canadian dollars. The listed price is about $310 US and I don't know what it would come to in Franken.

OMG Chad! Your my HERO!
thank you. i wrote them a mail, but i think i will order one from them
Canadian Dollars are nice for swiss francs xD. i order from time to time from otter valley railroad. great service by the way.

Cheers
Marco

Good morning all, and Happy Anniversary Karl! 56 here, heading for 81. I'm heading to Little Rock in a bit to be with some friends as they will be doing a procedure on my friend who has a blockage in his Carotid Artery. So any prayers are appreciated here.
Wish the Brewers could have won last night, I'm pulling for them, but wow, LA looks to repeat this year.
You guys have a good day.

G'morgen! 66°F/59°F heading for 82°F today. Nothing like a second summer in the middle of Oktober.

Got laundry done yesterday, paid bills this morning and did my grocery shopping. Still have to go pick up scripts and some Bitburger or Hofbräu for this afternoon. Thinking of cooking outside today, but probably put that off until Saturday when they say their Magic 8 Ball tells them of rain.

Have a good day folks.

McNally and Jim Palmer
You made my day! Everybody remembers Palmer, but it was McNally that was the Ace of that staff!
Best example is that World Series sweep by Baltimore when you guys had that super staff in the late 60’s
The Baltimore Orioles 1966 four-man rotation:

Ace - Dave McNally - Dave struggled in game 1. Manager Hank Bauer panicked and pulled him in the 3rd inning. McNally came back to pitch a complete-game shutout in game 4 topping Don Drysdale 1-0.

#2 - Jim Palmer - The youngest pitcher to throw a complete-game shutout in the World Series. Palmer bested Sandy Koufax 6-0 in game 2.

#3 - Steve Barber - Arm troubles hampered him the second half of the season and kept him out of the World Series. Steve had the lowest ERA (2.30) of any of the Orioles' starters in the regular season.

#4 - Wally Bunker - Pitched a complete-game shutout in game 3 when he out-pitched Claude Osteen 1-0.

I can't leave out Moe Dabrowski! Moe fanned 11 Dodgers in relief of McNally in game 1. He came in in the third inning and kept the Dodgers scoreless the rest of game to pick up the win.

The Orioles only used 4 pitchers in their sweep of the defending champions, the Dodgers. The 1966 Orioles also had a good bullpen, but only Moe was called on in the 1966 World Series.

Good Morning All. Clear and 61°; no real change in the forecast except a cool spell hitting this weekend and another one later next week. Cool means overnight lows in the 50's. We won't be here so it doesn't really matter except for my stored Onion harvest from last Spring. They'll sprout with temperatures like that, so I'll put them in a carton and move them inside, into the train shed to keep warm.

A rather ho-hum day here on the SFW estate yesterday. Laundry in the morning before venturing out on the mower to complete every square inch of the yard. Since nothing is really growing right now due to no rain for the last 30 days, everything looks even! My hayfield looks good but I haven't talked to Marty to see whether he's going for a second cutting this year or not. First cutting earlier in the season was not as bountiful as it should have been, and he may need to add to the stock of bales. Two cuttings in 2023 (some held over) saved all of his livestock in 2024 when the tornado totally flattened my field as well as his.
Today will be spent preparing for the vacation trip coming up. We're leaving Saturday morning and spending the night in Baton Rouge. Sunday is a short trip to Gulf Shores AL, with a lunch stop and a visit to the model train museum in Gulfport MS on the way. Using the southern route of IH20 to IH49 to IH10/IH12 to get there. We'll bypass New Orleans this trip. We'll come home using the northern route of IH20 through Jackson and Vicksburg MS, and overnight in Monroe LA, before heading to Shreveport and Dallas. Since we're leaving on Saturday, we don't have to leave at 5:00 am to be ahead of the rush hour traffic in Dallas. It's about 7 hours to Baton Rouge counting a stop for lunch. From there it's 4 more hours to Gulf Shores which gives us plenty of time for the train museum in Gulfport. Condo check-in isn't until 4:00.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I moved some of the trains back into the staging yard until I got the main line opened back up. Then it was just run some others around for a while. As I have posted before, I use Woodland Scenics Tidy Track wand for cleaning track. If you are not familiar with it, here are the two wands that I use. One is my oldest one that broke in half a few years ago.
1760537513231.jpeg

These come with multiple cleaning pads. The one that I primarily use is the grooved eraser-like pad shown on the back one.
1760537645286.jpeg

Turn them over and I use the short wand to clean the track on switches. No snagging or tearing up the grooved side. These are used for mild cleaning and are eraser like. They supply 4 different pads to use, here are the other three.
1760537803290.jpeg

The one on the left is an abrasive one, similar to a Bright Boy, used for aggressive cleaning. I normally never use it. It too can be flipped over for a non-grooved surface. Note that they can be rotated 90° and used on N scale track. The brown one is meant to be soaked in your favorite cleaning fluid, while the white one is run dry to absorb any remaining fluid. While their instructions don't point it out, I believe that the best way to use them is to put one of each on the base and use it accordingly. I don't normally use them on most track, preferring to use my Centerline car when and if needed. I have used them on remote spurs where the Centerline car is impractical. Additional pads are sold separately. As you can see in the second picture, I have nearly worn out the grooved white ones, the flat white ones have already been worn and flipped. Thankfully, even though I have all of this stuff, my track generally does not get dirty and I use everything in a proactive mode.

Michaeljoe - I believe as Karl posted, that it's a Pinto. It's rather generic and not real detailed.
Kusojiji - I don't think that LaBelle oil really expires, but I don't know for sure.

Everyone have a good hump day today.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those celebrating.

It's Troy again.

Today turned out to be a dreary one with drizzle this morning. I was going to make Willie's favorite Tomato Stew with beef and pork and chili spices. ;) But I needed more of the tomatoes with the green chilis in them, so I ran to the store, picked up a short grocery list. Then spent the next hour browning the meat (HB and Pork Sausage), dicing the bell peppers... and I dumped in a big can of tomatoes AFTER I had already put in enough Tomatoes (including the ones with the green chilis).... Hmmm... that was supposed to be tomato sauce, not more tomatoes.

So I looked in the cupboard, and no small cans of sauce. Just the big ones. Drat!

I MIGHT make another run to the grocery. Maybe. We need more of the smaller cans for when we do homemade pizza. Dumping one of the small cans (14 or 15 oz???) in wouldn't hurt much. But I can wait a few hours and see if the extra tomatoes I added are saucing it up as is?

Good Morning All!
34F @ 84% foggy, no white.

You guys are talking about food again - welp, guess that ima going down that road too. Used the last bag of Spaghetti sauce and need more. I did note on that last bag the batch was made 1/24 so I guess a year and 10 months I made enough... Simple stuff for me. Hamburger, Italian Sausage, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, sliced Black Olives, small Celery Chunks and Onion slices; with Italian, Garlic, Fennel, Salt and Pepper. I don't have enough actual Tomatoes, so a big can of sauce; the ones I do have will be sliced and diced. Mix it all in and brew in the roaster for a day or so on low. Then bag it, about 1 coffee cup per bag.

So you think swimming with the Dolphins is expensive? Try swimming with the Sharks. It cost my buddy an Arm and Leg!

I need to find one of those with an off-set head for getting under catenary. It really is a PITA cleaning track under catenary, but I knew that going in. I don't do it as often as I should, and only clean it thoroughly when the trains just stop dead on the tracks and won't run at all.

The catenary at Langwies is the hardest to clean under because the reach is long, and the catenary is lower on the RhB than it is on the DB tracks.

Going out for a walk. Weather app has a percentage of chance for rain every hour today but it looks like just partly cloudy. But that can change quickly. Hopefully it does t rain on me of if it does just a sprinkle. Sensor says 56F out

3.22 miles. 200ft change. Try to do it 5-6 times a week. Missed Monday.

Monday was the wife’s day off and we have people from church coming by on her day off helping us finish up in the house. Mostly painting. Usually just women during the day which is why it’s in the wife’s day off.

I was ready to go and just getting my shoes and a man from church walked up and knocked. So my plans changed and I worked with him rehanging doors that had been painted last week.

He said he signed up on the list since it was a holiday (he works for a bank) but the men never show me the list. The women always share with the wife the list of volunteers that signed up on Sunday.
