I just checked my email and received the results of my Galleri multi-cancer screening test. It's a blood test that detects the DNA/spike protein that the cancer cells shed. 50+ cancers can be detected. Thankfully my results were ZERO detections. My Dr did a clinic and we had a significant discount. It is Tri-Care approved and should be Medi-Care approved next year.

I love Thanksgiving!

This year my wife, our son and daughter-in-law have been invited to my friend's house.

I’m bringing the sauerkraut, a Baltimore Thanksgiving tradition, and I wouldn’t let anyone else prepare it! I’m sure my wife could handle it, but it’s my thing. I usually roast the turkey, but as a guest this year, I won’t be doing that.

Baltimore Thanksgiving sauerkraut is often attributed to German immigrants, but in our family, the simple preparation comes from my Irish grandmother, even though my grandfather was a first-generation German American.

Like my grandmother I use pepper bacon and sauerkraut, nothing else. I'm told my grandmother use to say, "anything else ruins it" Even though my grandfather liked apples in it, my grandmother refused, but she would serve sliced apples on the side. "I'm not ruining all the sauerkraut" she would say.

The key is to slow cook it the day before. Let it rest in the refrigerator overnight or outside if it is cold enough and reheat it Thanksgiving Day.

It's not thanksgiving without sauerkraut.

One Thanksgiving, it was just me and my Dalmatian, Mickey. We enjoyed turkey hotdogs, and I had sauerkraut. We watched football until we drifted off to sleep. It turned out to be one of the happiest Thanksgivings ever.

Good Afternoon All. Seems that I misread the rain gauge in the dark this morning, it had 3.5" in it. Still under a flood watch, but since the rain has stopped it won't affect me.

The trip and visit to the doctor was OK. While the country roads were wet, the Interstate was dry and there wasn't any leftover accidents; if there were any to begin with. I consider doctor visits good when I don't walk away with any additional prescriptions. He did reduce the dosage of one BP medication since my home readings have been below 120/70.

Todd - I use aluminum foil in the air fryer tray below the basket, so any grease/debris cleanup just means crumpling it up and aiming for the trash. I do not recycle foil used for that.

Well--I guess I really didn't need new glasses, or anything. After I got the insurance info, I called the eye place back with it. "Oh, we don't accept that insurance, try this other place". Gives me the name or a competitor. Called them, they grudgingly made an appointment for Wednesday.
4:58 PM, the phone rings. Sorry, they can't honor that appointment, how about sometime mid December? Umm, no.
So much for that. And yes, I had originally scheduled with the first place as soon as I found out when everything would be happening.

Today my golf friend carpenter said I'll be late getting to your house I have to take some track to the dump. He's been also working at my uncle's house getting ready to sell because my uncle passed away last year. I knew my uncle had a large Lionel train layout and they sold all the rolling stock engines etc. but the person who bought all of that did not want the track. They were just going to bring it to the dump today. I told him to bring it down here. They couldn't load it all in the van so they brought half. There has to be 200 feet of track and 20 switches. Some of the switches and electronics still in the box that were never opened. $71.00 $49.00 brand new still in the box off to the dump. I have half of it in one of my spare bedrooms right now and I will bring it over to the Stormville Airport's tag sale next June. Swal
