Good morning all!

Going to be another nice day today. It wont be quite as warm as yesterday where we hit our first 90F temp. Currently its 59F
with the high expected at around 83F. No rain is predicted

Usual household stuff around the house today.

Daughter starts her summer school drivers-Ed today from 6:30am to 8am. She is not thrilled about having to be at school at 6:30
everyday in the summer. It only goes till June 25th so that's not terrible.

Have a safe day everyone!

I found this circuit that protects the LED from reverse voltage. Decided to give it a try as I can't stand flickering tail lamps when going over dirty sections of track.

Field tested and it works great! I watched as my headlamp was flickering like crazy and nothing coming out the rear lamp. Well, that meant I had to clean my track...

Good morning gang!

64° under sunny skies heading for high today of 75°.

Felt a little frisky last night modeling wise. So I decided to do a little scenery work. It’s been quite sometimes since I’ve done anything like this, but like riding a bicycle, it all came back to me.

30 minutes prior this was just bare foam & roadbed. I covered the track with masking tape so I wouldn't have to clean track and got right down to it. The red dwarf signal came on because the wife had the lift bridge(just off to the right) open to get into the laundry room. The power gap is just about where the rear truck of the hopper is. Maybe ballast tonight??

A small capacitor would probably help with that.

63°F and sunny this morning. Supposed to be the pick day of the week today with a high of 85°F. I saved the hamburgers from the other day for today and I'll fire up the grill a little later either for lunch or dinner.

Nothing going on today except enjoying this weather while it lasts and before it turns hot. The dewpoint is already on the rise which means miserable weather is not too far away.

Have a good Thursday. Servus!

Good morning from Wisconsin. 60 now maybe 80f degrees later. Yesterday was another fantastic weather day, it reached 91 but it felt great. There is no rain chances above 5% until next week Thursday when it’s says a 20% chance.

I’m going to try to get to the work bench today. It’s been too nice to stay inside. Today being cooler might push me to it.

Enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Mostly cloudy and 65°, heading into the mid-80's today. Tomorrow we will hit a stretch of days with the high in the low-90's. Our traditionally "wettest month of the year" hasn't lived up to expectations this year, barring a miracle in the next 4 days! Historically we get 5.5" of rain, so far this month I have gotten barely 3.25". More recently I got 15"+ in 2024. This weather lately has been perfect.

Yesterday's trip to the doctor was a complete bust. He wasn't there and I saw an NP who I had never seen before. Complete waste of time and gas to drive a 90 mile round trip for nothing. All she could do was look at the last blood tests and tell me that I was improving from the anemia. I already knew that from looking at the results myself. 2.5 hours of my life that I'll never get back.
Stopped for gas on the way home and it has dropped back below $4/gal, standing at $3.89 in most places. My $1/gal discount from my Kroger points, made it $3.49 for premium that I have to use. Also made stops at the pharmacy, post office and Dollar General on the way home.
Got home and finished topping off the pool and ran the filter to ensure that everything was working...it was!:)

Today is grocery trek Thursday. Wife is going across the street to Walmart while I am doing the shopping. She doesn't really mind going there, but she won't buy groceries there. There's two Walmarts in town, but this one has a Sheriff's deputy semi-permanently on duty there! She'll also stop at the UPS store to send something back to Amazon. Another stop on this trip will be at the pool store to get the water tested. I can do that at home, but I always have them test it upon pool opening to get a "professional" look.

I didn't get much time out in the train shed yesterday, but not really enough to do anything but run a few trains. That doesn't seem to ever get old. I ran on the lower level and verified that I had installed the two grade crossings properly. Those Blair Line laser-cut ones are easy and work great. And look good too...better than my scratch-built ones.

Kevin - Have a safe and enjoyable trip to Branson.
Terry -
As John Candy once said, "A little toxic waste never hurt anybody".
Look where that got him!

Everybody have a great Thursday.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with backs

It's Troy again.

Added the Peco Track to the Sell Off thread. If you want it, message me. I might include shipping in the USA.

Did the morning running. Getting ready to run the conduit for the new basement outlets, and as I look at the run I want, I may be about two feet short. Drat. I hat to purchase a 10 ft stick for 2 feet. I'll rough in the run for the freezer end, and then see what I've got left to do the hobby desk. I might pick up another outlet box and outlets and extend it even farther if I need to purchase the 2nd stick.

Been working on plotting with Claude the AI railroad designer. He's not telling me what to do, but I think I found the centerpiece building for my Midnight Abbey.

I'll post an update to that thread later today.

Time for a walk before it gets HOT. Already been to the grocery, big box hardware (Mendards) and filled up the gas tank. Ethanol free fuel is still at 5.99/gal, but reg gas is 3.69.

It will jump again (about .59/gal) on June 7 when the gov's gas tax suspension sunsets. He needs legislative approval to go beyond the initial 60 day window.

My mom's TAVR procedure was postponed at the last minute to next week. She has no symptoms yet, but there was a critical patient that was going to need "extra" time in the catheter lab. She's a little stressed out about the delay, but they put her in the #1 time slot for next Wednesday.

I went to my PCP's retirement party last night. We're the same age (66) and our birthday is one day apart in November. I'm one day older. He's been practicing for 37 years and the last 12 have been in a Concierge Medical practice.(MDVIP). The party was held at a local winery and there was about 200 of his 350 patients attending. There was an MDVIP rep acting as the MC and asked everyone to raise their hands. As she called out the number of years you had been a patient you lowered your hand. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, etc all the way up to 37. I had been with him for 23 and there were 6 patients attending that had been with him since he started practicing 37 years ago. I was one of the youngest people in the room.

He introduced the doctor that was going to take over his practice. He went through her resume. Very impressive. UCSF Medical Degree, Chief Resident at Stanford, and she was in the Internal Medicine department at Kaiser Foundation prior to this new position. She was ready to leave primary care altogether because it was "factory" medicine. She was burnt out seeing 30-40 patients per day and never being able to get to spend time really getting to know them or assist them in preventative care. This is the same reason my doc went into concierge medicine......almost 3000 patients before to less than 400 now.

My doc was so impressed with her that he signed up to have her be his PCP. He hasn't had a physical in 3 years because he didn't trust any of the PCP's that were available for him to see.

If you want to know what I pay it's about $2k per year. I have 24/7 access to his personal cell number, email, same day appointments usually within an hour or two, he spends all the time that's needed instead of the <15 minute in-and-out, and my annual physical includes full blood panels (6 tubes of blood) analyzed at the Cleveland Clinic/EKG/Body Composition/Hearing/Basic Vision/Grip Strength/Gait/etc. It's old school preventative medicine. I am very fortunate. My wife goes to a traditional PCP (her choice) who sees her for 10-15 minutes and shuffles her off to specialists. No preventive, just check blood and adjustment meds....gate keeper doc.
