Don't know but it never hurts to try it. It will probably force you to reload the update at a later date. The problem is finding the correct update.

Dr. appointment went well. Pressures were 14 left eye and 12 right eye. She said that was very good and right what she was shooting for. Next appointment isn't until end of August and another in September.

Troy maybe latex bathtub caulk would work?
Had a nice evening last night, we went to Church for a cookout/pot luck and my Wife ran some games inside while I hung out watching the Cornhole games and little kids on the playground stuff. 67F here and possible rain. heading to a Dr's appointment in a couple minutes. You guys have fun.

Well it’s warm in my part of Wisconsin. It’s already 81f degrees still heading into the 90’s but the breeze has slowed to a calm 2mph.

Took the doors off the refrigerator for recycling tomorrow. Carried them out to the curb and called the recyclers and gave them the $67. Need my SIL to help get the frig to the curb. I then brought the garbage bins and recycling bins in for us and the neighbor. Guy in a pick up truck at the curb says where is the refrigerator that goes with the doors? Told him in the garage. He asked if I paid for pick up tomorrow. Told him just did it. He said call them and say it’s gone and they will refund $60 of 67 back for paper work. He took the refrigerator. I got $60 back!

We are heading to the movies at 2:10. The Mandorlian movie, I have not watched any of the TV shows

I’m heading to the bench around 11 as I relax after handling the refrigerator doors!!!

Welp... Dinner is done

Took the trash bag out to the bin. Our trash pick up day is normally Monday, but with the holiday it'll be tomorrow. So our trash smells extra citrusy tonight with all the orange peels.

Oh, and Dinner, for those of you wondering:

A rustic cast-iron pie, its golden crust cradling a robust tomato foundation of unpretentious character, crowned with a generous mantle of hand-pulled mozzarella. A triumvirate of artisan meats — pepperoni, a house-smoked ham of considerable distinction, and seasoned Italian sausage — nestled amongst the cheese in perfect harmony. The whole affair embraced by a molten outer rampart of Monterey Jack, kissed by the cast iron into a gloriously crisp, lacey frico crown.View attachment 266395
Troy, do you also write for the J. Peterman catalogue??

Isn't it amazing how the scrappers can sniff out when someone puts something on the curb!

I don't pay the recycling fee anymore. I put the appliance on the curb and it sits less than a couple hours and its gone.

In other news, I just found out that someone in our neighborhood had a medical emergency while trying to get back to their condo. Passed out, floored it, hit the berm with a privacy fence between our neighborhood and a business in a commercially zoned house next to us.

Survived, but hit the garage on the back of the house. I think it's either an accountant or chiropractor in the building.

Of course, the board member I talked to couldn't reveal names due to privacy.

And in still other news, Terry's gripes and grumps about passcodes made me start looking into them. What are they, why do they exist, are they really more secure (yes, with a really big BUT attached)

I like this source from a cybersecurity YouTuber:

Yes, I was guilty of using a password manager with both Google Chrome, and with one of the services. The one the girl in the video says to never use.

This morning I spent some time chatting with Claude, after I had him put his Cybersecurity expert hat on. He gave the same info as Addie in the videos, so I started explaining my hardware/software/app preferences (all Apple, but Gmail, and Chrome browser preferred.)

So he convinced me to switch to Safari. Ten years ago, I hated Safari. Now, it's not too bad. Only one thing I don't care for (lack of a series of home pages I can open by starting up the browser.) So, I'll just have it remember the last opened pages, and put top level favorites bookmarks in for my two MRR forums I look at.

So, It's Passkey time.

And I deleted the password manager account, after migrating my data (delete the CSV file, then empty your trash as soon as you've verified the data transferred.

I should go to Menards and get the conduit and wire to run my outlets in the basement. Want a dedicated circuit for the new freezer and my hobby desk area. Two sticks of PVC conduit, and three spools of wire. Ugh! Wire is EXPENSIVE! Need to see if they have it by the foot, or if I need to purchase it by the 50' roll? I'd prefer a 25ft roll, but I don't see it in stock at either Lowes or Mendards in my area.

HD it to far away for my taste. If I make that trek, then I should stop at Costco. And that's always a danger to both my sanity and my bank account.

Does Menards have the wire all locked up and a worker has to retrieve it and walk with you to the register? That seems to be how HD does it. We bout a 50 ftroll of 12/3 and then took it back for a 100 ft roll. That’s how they do it. Since I already knew it we could get all our other stuff fetched and in the cart when the guy walked our wire up so we were ready

My mom is building out a room in her basement.

I also have done the expandable foam crap! Fill in the gap, let sit 6-24 hours and then i took a hack saw blade, taped over where the hand would grip it and sawed of the over fill on the expandable foam. It was easy and very little sanding was needed after the cut was performed.
A Japanese flush cut saw works great for trimming the spray foam in this case, I would imagine.

Lowes, yes. Menards no (not yet). And the price was about $8 cheaper per roll for a 50ft roll over what Lowes had it at.

Chrome works just fine on your Mac with the Apple managed passkeys. Any website or app that uses passkeys will work with your Mac and its passkey management. It's an industry-wide solution.

I avoid Chrome for other reasons (it's a hog, wastes resources, and I don't trust or want too give my life to Google) but my Google account, in as much as I use it, has a passkey and I have no issues with it from any of my Apple devices.

So, if you really want to use Chrome, there is no need to switch to Safari in order to use Passkeys. There are otehr good erases to switch, however.

Putting appliances out on the curb are against local ordinances UNLESS you have called the City recycler. It was funny I called the recycler and the local scraper shows up!

And this just in, Andy over on the Second Section podcast just announced that they were ending that pod.

If that's too small to read, here's the text:

Hello Model Railroaders:
After a lot of thought, its time to bring the Second Section Podcast to an end. This wasn’t an easy decision. The podcast has been an incredible part of my life, and I’m deeply grateful to everyone who listened, watched, supported, commented, shared episodes, and especially to the Patreon patrons who helped make it possible. What started as conversations around model railroading and the hobby grew into a real community, and I never took that for granted. At this point, I feel it’s the right time to close this chapter and move on to other priorities and projects. Rather than continuing half-heartedly, I’d rather end the show honestly and respectfully. Thank you for every download, every message, every interaction, and every bit of encouragement along the way. Your support meant more than you probably realize. The existing episodes/content will remain available on YouTube for now, and I’m proud of what we built together. Thank you all for being part of the journey.— Andy

The head coach of the Tokyo Giants resigned after his daughter used chatgpt to get advice about what to do after her father scolded her and her sister for fighting. She told chatgpt that he kicked and punched or whatever other DV magic words, which he did not do, and chatgpt recommended she call child welfare. So she did and they called the police, which she didn't want to happen. So, being the save face nation, he resigned to save the team from the BS. The daughter is severely regretting her actions. What an idiot. Why get the chinese involved in the first place?
Aaaaaaah.....the fine results from AI.

Around here I dont believe there is a City ordinance against putting that stuff out. If there is no one follows it and I doubt they would
raise too much of a fuss.

They used to put on a city wide appliance/electronics program once or twice a year where you could get rid of all that stuff but I haven't seen one
done in a while now.

In Germany, at least when I lived there, the cites and towns would have a day (or a set of days where your section of town / city was on a given day) where you could put anything out. Appliances, furniture, or anything. It was called Sperrmühltag IIRC and everyone was out all night looking for stuff. I got a set of cranks for my bike that had broken cranks, from an old bike I found, we found a sectional couch and took a few of the sections, and some really nice traditional china at one of the apartments I lived in.
