Good Morning All. Cloudy and 75°, with clouds all day keeping the temperature in the mid-80's. It's not forecast to be much warmer for the next 10 days except for Saturday when it might hit 90°. We had a short thunderstorm yesterday evening that left me with 0.6" in the rain gauge. What was I attempting to do? I had just lit the charcoal fire to grill a T-bone and then the first sprinkles started. By propping the cover partially closed/open, I was still able to get a good bed of coals and was successful in grilling it to a nice medium-rare, in the slow but steady rain. As I was closing the door behind me bringing it in, all hell broke loose. A good soaker that lasted for about ten minutes.
My wife kept me busy with household stuff all yesterday morning, until the dew dried and then I escaped to pick some English Peas from the garden.
They were all consumed with supper. My wife cooks them in a bit of water in a skillet with barely pre-cooked Prosciutto, garlic and onions. My signature sauteed mushrooms and a handful of blackberries completed the meal.
The trapped lizard is now free to roam outside. It definitely started in the house and crawled to the window. just another surprise creature living with us out in the country.
Today starts with the dreaded dishwasher after Mass, then bed linen laundry before I venture into the yard to see how dry it might become. It will still be too wet to mow, but I might be able to weed-eat around some trees and other obstructions.
My comments:
Mustard goes on red meats; ham, bologna, hot dogs, salami and liverwurst.
Mayo goes on white meats and brown meats; chicken, fish, turkey, roast beef, and hamburgers.
Catsup/ketchup goes only on potatoes; french fries or tater tots, and onion rings.
Sausage and bacon are best eaten unadorned.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I resumed the switching that I had started Friday. As I posted, I intended to switch 6 industries. Empty covered hoppers at the sand loading operation, switched out a covered hopper of plastic pellets at the plastics manufacturer and a pair of propane tankers at the gas dealer. These are all of the trailing point industries which the crew prefers to do first. American Plastics.
Then switched full loaded covered hoppers of grain for empties at the pass-thru siding at the grain elevator. Last was the two facing point spurs at the as yet unnamed warehouse and the fertilizer distributor.
The crew tied up for lunch nearby and will return to the yard when I get back to it. They walked about 2 blocks to Don's Pizza.
Terry - It would be nice if SXT does install Kadee's on HO scale models, but I won't know until I get my pre-ordered SD40-2's sometime in the fall.
Marlin - Get well soon. No need to push that luck as you posted.
Junk pile looks really good.
Karl - Hmmmh! I've never kept catsup in the fridge!
Everyone have a super Sunday.
