Good morning 43f South Dakota packing up this morning going home.

Suppose to be windy and rainy weather so we’ll see what the wind brings us. Rain no big deal, wind pulling a travel trailer that can be a challenge if it gets really really windy.

Then it’s back to work 🥺🥺.

Good morning. So Central Wisconsin has just seen the sun break through about 15 minutes ago. It’s been a gloomy few days. 51f degrees now and a possible 60+ later.

I watched the Dallas/Winnipeg NHL game last night. Dallas just does not impress me. I think Edmonton will beat them in 6. Looking forward to the panthers/Leafs tonight. I wouldn’t put 1 penny on this game and while I want the Leafs to win, it will be the Panthers even though the game is in Toronto

Sinuses. My best remedy to open the sinus is to rub Vicks Vapor Rub under the nose. Nothing else over the counter works for me. Old school for me but it works

Trains: everything is packaged and labeled. Tonight I will send out the PayPal invoices for those that request them and emails for the rest. These are for deliveries promised 5/20 to 6/5. I also have the balance of June and July commissions packaged and labeled. I’ve been delightfully busy. All are diesels but those will get billed the Sunday before they are due. The daughter will ship those.

Enjoy your day

I can remember having to also be on the lookout for turkeys flying across the roads when we lived in the mountains. There was one bad motorcycle accident. The bird and riders head intersected at the wrong time at high speed.

If you're handy with a checkbook, you can get a pivot point hitch for the trailer, which makes the trailer act like a fifth wheel trailer by projecting the pivot point forward to above the rear axle. It is expensive, but makes a huge difference, as far as towing. The downside is trying to connect the truck to the trailer with the hitch.

Good morning all 40f and cloudy in Sandstone.

I managed to place the 4 trees I have been working on and made some progress on a couple pines, then set them aside to play with my box cars.

I took 6 more truss rod boxcars out of storage and did some switching and staging with the S-1. The loco ran smoothly for all the operations. Always makes trains more pleasurable.

Church next. Home made waffles for dinner.

Interesting discussions about track cleaning on the forum thread.

Have a relaxing Sunday, if possible

Good morning all!

Should be a beautiful Sunday with plenty of sunshine and temps at 74F.

Just got done making the family breakfast (omelets, hash browns, fruit) Not sure what the day will bring
as the lawn, grocery shopping and laundry are all done. We shall see!

Have a safe day everyone!

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 75°, with clouds all day keeping the temperature in the mid-80's. It's not forecast to be much warmer for the next 10 days except for Saturday when it might hit 90°. We had a short thunderstorm yesterday evening that left me with 0.6" in the rain gauge. What was I attempting to do? I had just lit the charcoal fire to grill a T-bone and then the first sprinkles started. By propping the cover partially closed/open, I was still able to get a good bed of coals and was successful in grilling it to a nice medium-rare, in the slow but steady rain. As I was closing the door behind me bringing it in, all hell broke loose. A good soaker that lasted for about ten minutes.

My wife kept me busy with household stuff all yesterday morning, until the dew dried and then I escaped to pick some English Peas from the garden.

They were all consumed with supper. My wife cooks them in a bit of water in a skillet with barely pre-cooked Prosciutto, garlic and onions. My signature sauteed mushrooms and a handful of blackberries completed the meal.
The trapped lizard is now free to roam outside. It definitely started in the house and crawled to the window. just another surprise creature living with us out in the country.
Today starts with the dreaded dishwasher after Mass, then bed linen laundry before I venture into the yard to see how dry it might become. It will still be too wet to mow, but I might be able to weed-eat around some trees and other obstructions.

My comments:
Mustard goes on red meats; ham, bologna, hot dogs, salami and liverwurst.
Mayo goes on white meats and brown meats; chicken, fish, turkey, roast beef, and hamburgers.
Catsup/ketchup goes only on potatoes; french fries or tater tots, and onion rings.
Sausage and bacon are best eaten unadorned.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I resumed the switching that I had started Friday. As I posted, I intended to switch 6 industries. Empty covered hoppers at the sand loading operation, switched out a covered hopper of plastic pellets at the plastics manufacturer and a pair of propane tankers at the gas dealer. These are all of the trailing point industries which the crew prefers to do first. American Plastics.

Then switched full loaded covered hoppers of grain for empties at the pass-thru siding at the grain elevator. Last was the two facing point spurs at the as yet unnamed warehouse and the fertilizer distributor.

The crew tied up for lunch nearby and will return to the yard when I get back to it. They walked about 2 blocks to Don's Pizza.

Terry - It would be nice if SXT does install Kadee's on HO scale models, but I won't know until I get my pre-ordered SD40-2's sometime in the fall.
Marlin - Get well soon. No need to push that luck as you posted.
Junk pile looks really good.
Karl - Hmmmh! I've never kept catsup in the fridge!

Everyone have a super Sunday.

Willie - I so envy your growing season. The only crops I've been able to harvest in the last month are asparagus, spinach, and some lettuces. Hood strawberries should start being harvestable in the next week or two, but my peas and beans do not have any blossoms yet.

Good afternoon. It's mostly sunny and 87.
Most of y'all are probably aware that I downsized and moved in late 2022, moving into a fifth-wheel trailer in Florida. I've spent some effort attempting to consume all the supplies my wife and I had amassed before her death earlier that year. While I've been making inroads into the stuff, I just threw away several cans of soup and broth that, when I checked the dates, had expired in 2023. I'll go through the rest of the canned goods and see what else is expired or about to expire, and either do my best to use it, or toss it, if it's too old. While I'm not worried about it going bad, I do know that the longer food is stored away, the more nutritional value is lost. I threw away a bag of rice that expired about the same time, while it probably wouldn't hurt to eat it, it also wouldn't have done any good, either.

Wow, how time flies. Was in Spokane playing a round of golf with Mom when dem black clouds came from the West. We finished our round thinking 'thunder showers'. Boy we were wrong. After the 2nd day of ash falling, most business shut down; 1st you could not see anything driving; 2nd no clue if the ash was gonna kill us or not. So - party time. Stores got emptied of anything booze/beer related along with hot dogs and stuff like that. Nope, no run on toilet paper. Spokane made through it with about 2 or 3 inches of ash on the ground. What a mess for clean up.

I remember when we first moved to OR we could still see steam rising up, 20 years post eruption.
We visited the site the next year after the boom. Looked like Hiroshima for the most part. Dome building had already started, hence the steam. We did see some green stuff coming through the ash at that time. Went back again maybe 15 years later - lots of green and medium pine/fir/whatever growing pretty good. Still steam and dome building. It is an active volcano still. Mt Rainier has been steaming and dome building for years. One day; well can you say PomPeii?

Good morning, all! It was 84 degrees at 10:00 this morning. Quite a few areas are breaking temp records for the month of May. The son is back in Oregon after a nice but all to short visit. We took him on a tour of the neighborhood and some of his old stomping grounds. The places have changed. Some not for the better.

Troy / kgstakes - Safe traveling, as the signs in Texas say, "Drive Friendly".
We do not own a ketchup bottle. We sometimes buy a small bottle for family gatherings, but it is sent home with someone.

I like night photos as well.
