@TLOC okay understand that. thank you. but now iam curious. maybe i mean another great goalie that retired this season?
or on the other hand, the social media team from fleury did a really great job and sugessted that he is one hell of a goalie?
i mean we (switzerland) had some great goalies in the NHL. But we also have some great defenders in there :)

Well, howdy there internet hot doggers

It's Troy again

RIP to yet another Tariff thread over on MRH. They're fun - like a wreck in slo-mo - to watch.

Rained last night, but not stormy enough to wake me.

Before that I got the wife down into the man cave to watch day 1 of the Gettysburg movie. The 4 hour extended one. But, first I showed her this 15 min compendium of the 3-day battle. 15 min to get context. Then four hours of speeches by darn near everyone.

We'll do day two of the battle tonight. And Day three on Sat. then Sunday, we start the march to GB.

I put mayo on hotdogs, brats, pretty much everything. My buddy in high school got me into it. He put as much mayo on the bun as there was hot dog. It got stuck in his moustache, which was funny. Of course, that means seconds...

Wife hates my stache as well as my beard, which extends past the nipple line. It gets stuck in my seatbelt and sometimes I can't move in bed because I have it trapped under my arm or something. When she askes me to taste the soup, sometimes the beard gets the first taste. haha

Good morning gang!

65° and partly cloudy. Rain is in the forecast for about 9 AM and clearing and a high of 84° today.

As hot dog girl, I prefer the all beef hotdog. The chicken dogs, and the all meat hotdog just don’t have the same taste. What is in an all meat hotdog? I thought the only three choices were beef, pork, and chicken. All meat hotdog, does that include roadkill?

It is 755pm. Thought it was going to rain today so me and the wife hurried up to bring the onion harvest into the house. We (she) had to cut the roots off, clean all the dirt off, cut the green part off, leaving enough to tie up to hang. They are now resting on a towel in front of the TV, enjoying the latest news, game, variety show that Japanese tv has to offer. This was our first time growing onions, so we are going to the interweb a lot so that we have a viable harvest. She did an awesome job!

I am currently watching my HO CSX SD40-2 going around the room. I just converted it to DCC and found out that I need to add clearancing to the weight that was attached to the shell. I had to do that to my GP35, so I know what I need to do. Using a DH165IP decoder.

Along side it, is my N scale C62 on DC dragging three open roof Rhatische Bahn coaches.

I am also in the process of converting an n-scale Kato C30-7 to coreless. Had/have a hell of a time to get the 1-1.5 mm shaft adapters to stick to the motor. Roughed up the shafts and tried stuper glue and white glue, both failed. Now trying something that smells like rubber cement. Hope that works.

Just completed an N scale Boxcab 3d print, dual color, had to change the filament, had to fix it after I f-d it up, got the designer involved only to realize that I hosed it up, downloaded fusion, had to learn how to use fusion, learned enough to be dangerous. It came out awesome!

In the process of printing out an upscaled to OO version of the Boxcab, praying that it comes out.

Got my last HEP B innoculation and an unknown pneuomonia one that I should have got when I turned 50. Both arms aching now.

But, enjoying a healthy adult beverage now and all will be forgotten in a few.

Good morning all!

Happy Friday!

Going to be another hot one. High is going up to 88F. Not quite as warm as yesterdays 93F.

Today is my daughters last day of grade school. Graduation is next Wednesday, but today is their final day. Dont
know what there going to do. She has already brought everything home the last couple of days.

Got a list of things to get accomplished today myself, so better get going.

have a safe day everyone!

Marco, that was my opinion. Others think Fluery is Hall of Fame worthy. I’m unaware of any other “name” goalie retiring after this season.

all good :) well then it really was fleury :). atm he plays great in that canada jersey.
iam still happy we gave USA and now also Germany a nice slap in the face with those wins hihihihi.

But all that matters are the playoffs, or better the knock out round that follows after group play.

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 69°, might hit 90° later on. Barely reached 82° yesterday which was quite pleasant. If the NWS is to be believed, we will have a week of cooler temperatures after today, but their record for May so far has been pretty dismal. My prediction is rain here and there, occasional sunny days and dark nights!

Yesterday's grocery trek was uneventful, but took longer than anticipated. Got some liquid chlorine at Home Depot for the pool, it was actually less expensive than the last two years. Picked up 40 lbs of charcoal from Sam's Club and got my right hearing aid fixed. Then picked up a prescription from the pharmacy. Wow! It was a tier-4 drug and I had a whopping copay of $46. Then it rained on the way home, something that wasn't even remotely in the forecast. Didn't rain at home though.
After lunch, I cut a few 4' logs into ~16" pieces of firewood and stacked them and some others for next winter. Spent about an hour cleaning and straightening the 8' x 20' storage room. Part of it was still in disarray from when last years tornado blew part of the roof off it. Yep! I'm still cleaning up stuff from that tornado. Made Shrimp Scampi for supper last night. The thought once again wandered through my mind about how we're being fooled by the process called "de-veining shrimp". That ain't no vein! We're really disemboweling them!

What I'll do today depends on what gets my attention first. Should I mow again, gather logs and stack them, weed the garden, or something else altogether. I hear the trash truck out there as I type this, so I also have an empty dumpster to work with for the debris from the storage room.

While I did visit the train shed yesterday, I really didn't do anything notable. Straightened stuff up and prepared for the next phase of under the layout 120v wiring. I have to decide what to do with 45 years worth of Model Railroading magazines that are taking up space and have to be moved every so often when I do some work. I always kept them for reference, but I haven't unboxed any in a really long time. I do have a list of what I considered interesting articles, but I don't have time to reread any of them. Haven't boxed any issue since 2021 yet either.

Bob - I think that 12 gauge wire is overkill for what you are going to do. I'd use #14 myself. The benchwork looks really nice
Kusojiji - OK, I understand now. I did not have any Post-It's Tuesday, but is a wonder that I remembered all of those needed stops. When I do the Thursday grocery trek, I have a list that also has the additional stops listed. Of note though, I stopped at Home Depot on Tuesday for some stuff and I should have gotten the chlorine then, but forgot! Would have saved a stop yesterday. When you live as far from civilization as I do, combing errands on a single trip is a must.
I can definitely relate to the beard. During the 80's and 90's, mine was close to nipple length. It used to embarrass my kids when we would go out to eat somewhere, and I would tuck it into the neck of my tee shirt to keep it out of the way in restaurants. I still refer to it as "the napkin that goes with me".
Regarding onion harvest. They preserve best if you let the tops die back completely and fall over before harvesting. They can still be tied up and hung in a dry place. I grow several hundred in my garden, I harvest in late May and let them dry in the sun for about a week before trimming the roots and tops. I store mine outdoors under a porch roof and they will generally last until the cool weather returns in November or December.
Tom O - I think that "California casual" just means to come as you are! Shorts, sandals and tee shirts with your baseball hat on backwards.

Everyone have a fabulous Friday, and a good weekend.

I was a regional sales rep for a big national and a small local pork processor during my working years. I will not eat an all meat hotdog.

Awesome! thanks for the tip. I need to find a place to store them or make something. I told my wife that I was tired of gardening since I keep feeding the worms and bugs, and was going to just make a parking lot. She took it on to grow something and she did a good job with onions and two types of beans, one of which we were harvesting during the winter and the other that we just completed this week.

We are faced with another rainy period, so she decided to pull the plug. We let them dry for 2 days and they are now sitting in our living room watching tv. I really hope they survive and make the effort worth it.

Thanks for the info!!

Good morning from tornado torn Wisconsin. 66f degrees now 80+ later.

Thursday sure was an interesting weather day. Sitting on the front porch most of yesterday afternoon as I watched the radar and the skies as the storms moved northwest and northeast of us. Everything was around us but we barely even got a sprinkle of rain. A mile to the west the neighborhood had trees blown over and to the east of us 1 of my buddies his rain gauge between 2 and 3:30pm received 2.5” of rain. About 60 miles northeast were the tornadoes.

Terry wants to do a on sale only sale at the grocery store. Beef tenderloin and my Diet Dr Pepper is on sale. Because we will be leaving next week we don’t need much!

Trains. Yesterday I tested all my personal diesels. Today they go to a friends. He will add new brass wheel/axle wipers for better electrical pick up. Then he will adjust the CV’s to match up with what the group is using for the ProtoThrottle settings. He will adjust the overall sound to lower volumes for me but increase the horn! I rusted 30 Kadee couplers and put them in a baggie. He will change out all the couplers. Some had the #5 but I now prefer the whisker style couplers from Kadee. IMO they operate better.

Freight cars: today I will take 5 coil cars and work on them. Inspect, check weights and couplers. All trip pins will go. I have 40 pairs of magnetic air hoses I will add. Next up is 5 bulkhead flats, 11 gondolas and 8 woodchip cars. I think I can handle 5-10 a day till we leave Wednesday.

Adding weight to freight cars: I now weigh my cars 1oz for every inch of the car plus 2 oz. . So a 7” car will weigh 9oz. They track better for me. YMMV. I use penny’s in boxcars and autoracks. Sand in covered hoppers and tank cars. Flat, bulkheads and pulp cars I use lead strips or shot glued in the frame. For gondolas I was adding lead sheet to the inside of the floor and weathering it. I now add wheel weights to the floor and cover those with .010 styrene sheet weathered. All my gondola loads are removeable.

All wheels will be steel with steel axles. They are all steel now but I will be changing out the ones with plastic axles as I find them. I know I still have a few

Enjoy the day

Good morning, it is 52f and windy out there this morning, light on and off rain. We only got .4" overnight, however it is supposed to rain a lot today. No severe weather by us.

We are going on a coffee date later this morning, and I will be getting my pension paperwork notarized. They do not accept my state drivers license (even though I worked in State government) but I have to take my birth certificate in as well. All my Social Security stuff has gone through the gamut and medicare sign up is all done, just this one last loose end to finalize.

I don't add any weight to any cars, I usually only pull short trains, less than 6 cars, so have never had a tracking problem.

I have a lot of plastic wheels as well. They don't seem to create any problems, but then again I do not run the train continuously for hours, either. Plus, I clean my track frequently. I have noticed with some of my steel wheels I can see little sparks between the rail and wheels at times. Not sure why it does that.

With my layout, I spend about 90% of my time building stuff and 10% actually operating trains, I don't really expect that percentage to change drastically, either.

I got the little homesteader shack done, the trim is painted but the walls are natural wood, maybe leave it at that or paint white? My era is 1900-1940.

Same with us. They had severe weather to the south and north of us, but it seemed to split and go around us.

We received maybe 5 minutes of and a few rumbles of thunder out of it all.

The skies sure did look ominous all afternoon though.

Oh yeah. It was one of those afternoons where it looked like any minute the houses and trees across the street would blow away. Heard lots of thunder but really zippo in my neighborhood. We could use some rain but not. 2.5” in 90 minutes
