Good morning. It's mostly clear and 57.
This is my first week of not being allowed to take both of my days off consecutively. I was off Sat-Sun, then had to work yesterday, now I'm off today. I noticed yesterday several employees weren't there, and when I asked, I was told it was their weekend off. I guess rules are for me and not thee... If I wasn't 13 months from retirement, I'd probably make an issue of it.

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those inverted for whatever reason

It's Troy again. I might be a bit sideways, but still upright.

I finally dug out the manual last evening... what manual?

The one to my generator. The beast that sits in my garage. Quietly. Sleeping. Like Smaug on his piles of wealth, ready to awaken, rumble, and breath fire when angry.

I've never been brave enough to put in the magical elixirs and awaken him.

Hmmmmm.... Sounds a bit like snow white or sleeping beauty? Perhaps they were both dragons, and the gallant princes figured out how to awaken dragons?

But I digress... reading said manual, my fear was confirmed.

The generator doesn't invert the electrons it produces.

Why do we need inverted electrons?

Well, the new Mighty Mouse, Mr. Peabody, and Under Dog don't care for right side up electrons. Their circuits are delicate. Or something like that.

Since I sold off my old 3D printer yesterday, I might have to redirect the money.

Seems that non-inverter generators produce Dirty Sin.... or Sin Waves that all sorts of nasty or such.

I'm not good at electrons. Photons I understand. Not electrons.

So, I'm looking to get something for when the grid goes down and we need to run the Solar Batteries. And my struggles with getting enough solar panels and enough sunlight to recharge them. Fortunately, in a grid down time, I can throw the solar panels on the roof of my garage. It's the only place that gets sun 85% of the daylight hours

But... the HOA will have their say if I put them up even semi-permanent. Grid down, well, they can kiss my grits until the grid is back up. Learned that few years ago when the roar and belches of generators filled the air round here for three solid days while the wife, cat, and I hunkered in the coolish but damp basement for sleep.

so, I'm looking at getting something of a smaller variety. A mini-dragon, so to speak. One that only has clean Sin waves and inverted electrons to charge the solars.

This one looks clean enough.

I checked with the AI overlords and they say a 1900 wat standard output should charge the largest of my batteries in about 90 minutes.

Of course, this would have to be a male mini dragon. Probably name him Sherman to go with Mr. Peabody.

Anything else I should consider?

EDIT: or this one for an extra C-note:

I'm leaning towards the bigger one.

Good morning all!

A fairly cool morning out there when I hauled the garbage and recycle bins to the curb. Currently 29F but with the wind it feels more
kike 17F. I can attest since I was in shorts. Temps will rebound nicely though/ High is supposed to reach a decent 53F.

Have to run my wife's car out to drop off at the dealer to have both driver and passenger side airbags replaced. It was a recall from
Chrysler and last week when I had the oil change done they had to order the bags so today is install day. Since they say it will take
around 5 hours to do both I will get a loaner to run my errands since the wife will use mine to head into the office.

Not much else of importance going on here. Hope it stays that way.

Have a safe day everyone!

Yes, sort of! Most of it is coming down. I decided to keep my current paper mill yard portion of the layout. That is on the west wall of the room. But I will raise it 4”. The rest of the current layout in that 11’2” wide x 28’ room is coming down. Except for my pulp and wood chip piles the paper mill was sold and picked up yesterday. My programming track over my bench is staying and will become my engine service center. My current tree tunnel and pulp log yard were not removed yesterday. I have ideas for it so I left it.

It was very hard saying good bye to my paper mill structures and off loading spots. But they are gone!

The new paper mill will be accessed from 3 sides

Morning all,

44° and clear, high today of 75° and in the 90's for the next couple before we hit 58° for the high on Friday. Gotta work Saturday as I'm doing the server upgrades a week earlier due to Easter being on the "normal" rotation.

Got the first coat of paint in the bathroom. I'm mostly touching up as we painted it 2 years ago and we're not changing the color. You can't tell where I touched up. The paint behind the toilet tank now matches, and some issues along the edge of where the old side splash was are corrected. @nd coat tonight and then I think I'll be ready for the new vanity.

Troy: Thanks for reminding me I need to get my generator fired up to test.

Good morning Crew from Wisconsin. It’s dark, 31f degrees and going to the high 50’
IMG_5943.png

The snow of Monday 3/16 was 100% gone from my yard at noon yesterday Monday the 23rd!

The paper mill structures on my layout are gone! Sold last week and picked up yesterday. Today that part of the benchwork comes down.

Enjoy your day

Morning folks, woke up to dusting of snow on the yard, most all of it that hit the driveway is already gone. 28°F and headed to the mid 40s.

Got some time in the basement yesterday working on the interior of what will be a small speed shop in the diorama. Not much progress on the dio as a whole though.

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and 57°, the cooler weather from yesterday will leave and we'll see 84° today...it was just 76° yesterday. Next cool front on Friday. That chance of rain in the forecast just keeps slipping backwards.

Taking my wife to the ophthalmologist today for a follow-up to the laser surgery a few weeks ago. My visit to the dermatologist yesterday was uneventful. The usual nitrogen freezes here and there was about it. One skin sample scrapped off to send to the lab. Another ho-hum day around the estate otherwise.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I ballasted the remainder of the main line that I intend to get done for now.

I also gave a name and purpose to that backdrop building on the end of the spur. The backdrop poster on the right will definitely go, I just didn't want to lean in over the wet ballast...because I would have disturbed it if I tried!

Ran a few trains on the upper level in between, since I haven't run any in a few days. I'll have to check this area out next, after cleaning the track. Despite my best efforts wiping it down after the painting and ballasting, I'm sure that there's residue of some kind or another on parts of the railheads.

Tom O - Can't really comment on the airport situation, but Congress has repeatedly voted against "no budget, no pay" bills in the past; most recently in November 2025. Everything in DC right now disgusts me!
Coats? I'm not sure that I own a proper coat, jackets yes.
Kevin - Prayers for your friend's husband.

Today is National Cheesesteak Day for all you food lovers out there. I occasionally make Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers, which reduces the carb count for the day.

Everybody have a great Tuesday.

If a model that runs on propane is available, I'd go for that. Gas goes bad over time, if you run it once, you gotta clean it up - gas tank and carb. If you run propane, no cleaning necessary. Running on propane will not make as much power, but just size it correctly.
Oooooo! Good catch. I had searched for Dual Fuel, so I didn't read close enough on the bigger that it was gas only.

Going with the smaller one for dual Fuel and Inverter status.
