Is Snap-On still manufacturing in the US?
I believe most of the hand tools and tool boxes are. They have factories in Milwaukee, North Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas.

Some Snap-on products are made in China. Products include welding helmets, cordless screwdriver kits, cordless power drill kits, polishers, air compressors, and safety gloves. Probably a few other things too.

Their lower price point t lines like Blue Point are made overseas.

Well howdy there internet peeps and those with tools

It's Troy again.

Got the interview done. It went well. Talked about murder and bloodhounds and stinky blimps...

In other news, the kid sent me a gift cert to Logan's Roadhouse - our go-to steak place. I like outback too, but Logan's has better meatloaf according to the wife... come to think of it, does Outback even have meatloaf?

So that's where we're going for dinner.

and, in other, other news, Amazon is confusing me with Louis. Must be all of those links for toasters that Terry shared.

Knocking wood: the forum has been mostly stable after the initial blips this morning. We'll see...

Made it to 68°F, and still no sunshine. This may be the coolest June I can remember since grade school. I think I ran the A/C three days so far. Might have to run it by the end of the week as highs are supposed to be in the upper 80s with high dewpoints.

If it hasn't reached 70°F by now, it's not going to happen today.

Think seriously before looking elsewhere for a forum. Yes it has been terribly wonky lately but it’s still IMOO the best one around.
While I have been posting negatively lately, it is mostly out of frustration. I agree that this is the best forum around. But this has been going on for two weeks at least without any explanation. No it's not the bots as far as I can tell. I understand that it may have been an issue two weeks ago with 13,000 guests, but wonky this morning with only 850 guests. Took over 30 seconds just to log out.

what up fam!

it must be the heat. but last week i ordered a box. the box has stuff in it but its no modelrailroading stuff.
yeah i think it has to be the heat...

morning all... brain kicked in with the 2:30a pee run, and hasn't stopped.

Our barometric pressure is on a rollercoaster, so I'm waking up with weather headaches. Time for a Diet Dr. P and an ibuprofen to check that.

Book is locked in for premier this Saturday.

Not sure what to do until then?

I have another book to write, but not feeling it yet. May just refresh myself on the impending plot and let it roll around the synapses for a day.

Going to go introspective for a time. If you don't want to read mental health stuff, skip the rest of the post.

Daughter (33 year-old) recently got diagnosed with AuDHD. That's a combo of both high-functioning autism and ADHD. It wasn't in the psych manuals until 2015. It came about when some smart folks realized that some of their patients in counseling that didn't quite meet the criteria for either, had both and their internal conflicts were masking the other. Since both conditions tend to be genetically shared, I started reading up on the traits. Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep! I was checking all the boxes too.

A lot of my past behaviors, burnout, melt-downs, etc, are in a clearer focus after seeing the interactions. Really eye opening.

An author friend of mine and I started talking about AuDHD back in Nov at an author conference. She'd been diagnosed late in life after her marriage fell apart and she started counseling. We were comparing notes on the Clifton Strengths personality stuff that we like to use to figure out how to best work in the author business. After we shared our top 10, she suggested I look into it.

I shrugged it off... but now the daughter's been going to counseling for general life stuff and got diagnosed. So I started looking into the issues.

And after watching a bunch of videos from professionals in the field, and nodding along, I knew that I've been in burnout for the past few years. So I picked up a book on AuDHD burnout because it was checking a lot of behavioral boxes. More Yep, Yep, Yep, Yep as I read the traits, and how the burnout happens then continues to recycle because I wasn't seeing the cycle. I thought I was coming out of it, then overdid, and started it all over.

Part of that was in the political realm (nuff said). Fortunately, now I just laugh at that area.
The other part was in the social interactions, mostly through the gaming scene. I wanted to show off all the toy soldiers I was painting, and get the social interactions. But there wasn't an organized scene for the games I wanted to paint and play. So I organized them, and painted, and organized them, and painted, and ugh! Why am I still the organizer? Burnout!

A few months later: I'd start organizing again, register for a tourney, and then cancel the tourney because I dreaded the social interaction and competition... burnout.

Somewhere in there, I realized that Model Railroading was right there in front of me, with the right conditions.
1. I didn't have to organize a darn thing except my hobby bench
2. I could still hobby. Scenery and painting little toy people! (and zombies)
3. I didn't need to attend competitions to participate... RPMs and Train Shows are about learning, not competing. I compete with myself to get better. That's it.
4. No time pressures, no deadlines. Work on it when I want, take breaks when I need to.

Model Railroading. I wonder how many more neurodivergent people are in the hobby?

One forum hiccup so far this morning. Seems to start about 5 am each morning.

Found an interesting piece on trains/model railroading and Neurodivergence/autism:

Gent was a combat engineer in the USMC, but loved trains...

We have two typhoons heading this way with both getting us wet on Thursday. Hopefully the one sucks the other along and makes it veer to the right.

#8 will hit us earlier than #7.

So, we pulled our potatos early. We had stopped watering a couple of days ago. A whole bunch of small ones, which is fine with me since I just bake them and smash them, skin and all.

Good morning and yes it’s early for me at 5:59 as I start typing.

52f degrees now 75 later

The movie is at noon today because the granddaughter has her game at 5:30 and the grandson’s hockey starts at 7:10pm. We will barely make the start of his game. The movie is that alien one by Speilberg and it runs 145 minutes.

I am heading over at 7 to the shop for at least a couple hours on projects. Being 3 miles or so depending on the route is aggravating. We have not decided on the new house yet and I don’t see an agreement coming soon. We have agreed where it will sit though on the property.

Enjoy the day

Good rainy morning to you all, 73 here and pouring rain, a "Toad strangler" as my Grandma used to say. We do need the rain, we are very dry here, but we are traveling today, about a three hour trip, so rain is an annoyance. LadyC doesn't like to ride when it is raining/snowing, she would rather drive, so I will get to be chauffeured around today. Gonna spend a few days in Branson, where she can engage in her preferred hobby of Attack Shopping. No kiddos with us this time, so I am gonna spoil her as it is our 42nd Wedding Anniversary tomorrow.
Forum was annoying yesterday, but seems to be behaving today. Hopefully none of you give up as I like you guys and your posts!
Best wishes to all of you.
Congrats on #42 together
