Good Morning All. Rain and 67°. No, the NWS didn't see this one coming. Thunderstorm rolled through starting around 0500. Currently looks like 1" of rain in the gauge. Forecast now calls for rain again tomorrow morning. Mid-70's overnight to low-90's for most of the week.

Still having issues with the forum. Since it's been determined on another thread that Vertical Scope is not the issue, what is the problem. I asked yesterday and haven't seen a response yet. Wish that it would get fixed before I give up.

Got some mowing done yesterday before running out of gas, but didn't feel like going and getting any more at the time. The pool with a cold beer just seemed better. I'll go this morning since I can't do any type of yardwork. Have a late (3:00) appointment at the electrocardiologist's office for a six month follow-up. They called on Friday to say that he wasn't going to be in and I will have to see the NP instead. Mixed feelings about this. I will have to readjust the pool chemical balance again today after the unexpected rainfall! Seems like this has become an every other day affair now.

I only ran trains out in the train shed yesterday. As is usual for a Sunday, there just wasn't enough uninterrupted time to get back to my ongoing project. Meanwhile let me try to post the pictures that I gave up on yesterday.
I had posted last week that I had to make repairs on 4 of the 5 new ScaleTrains 89' boxcars, the same repair on both ends of 3 of them. This delicate part was not properly inserted in it's hole.

This car also had this part loose in the box.

Here's what they look like when properly installed.

A look now at the three extra cars that they sent mistakenly and told me to keep.

If I just run some of them on the upper level, maybe no one will notice that there's roofwalks on two of them; not that any who visits would even know the history of freight cars!

So far they all run OK on the upper level, which is good for a car of this length. My longest cars prior to this are a scale 79' well car, of which I have many. I haven't run any of them on the lower level yet, but I don't expect any problems since those curves are all just a little broader than the upper level; 30"-34" instead of 28"-32".

Mike -
Somebody must of flipped the switch, forum is humming along nicely.
Not sure what world you are in, I couldn't get in most of yesterday.

It has stopped raining and the windows are now all opened, hoping that the cooler temperatures migrate into the house.
Everybody have a great Monday. Let's see if this posts.

Just got notified that my fleabay order arrived. Going to go pick up tomorrow. Shipped on 13 May. I already contacted the seller to ensure that he gives me the entire warranty period since it had not come in at that time. Will let him know once I pick it up and give it a test run.

Man, I had written this thing off already. RDC-2 that I have plans for lighting and probably sound since I have been smitten.

Good morning. Think seriously before looking elsewhere for a forum. Yes it has been terribly wonky lately but it’s still IMOO the best one around. The modeler skills can be found at most forums but not amount of postings. The closest to the I have found is at the The Modelers Forum where most of the Rail-line forum guys went when that site went under. The peaceful interactions this place has though is second to none though The Modelers Forum is close! Yes we (ok mainly me) sometimes push Terry’s political patience but that keeps him on his toes. Can’t have him too relaxed.

Troy is finding out at the MRH diner that his postings get no or in time few responses. I did like both postings Troy! So your credibility score is rising!

Father’s Day dinner was fun, 47 of the 50 RSVPs showed up per the daughter. The weather was borderline crummy but the kids swam anyway as it was in the 70’s and the pool is solar panel heated.

Land of the Free! The Reflecting pool has the National Guard guarding it!!! Amazing

Enjoy your day

Good morning gang!

Daughter and son-in-law have gone to work, leaving me and grandma to handle the kids. 923 in the morning and they’re still sleeping. We did have a very busy day yesterday and did keep them up late. Maybe go bowling later.

Forum has been really wonky this morning with taking almost a full 10 seconds to register like, and then when I went from page 51 to page 52 it wouldn’t do it. So I went to check the rest of my email and play on Facebook for a little bit, came back and still would not let me in. This is getting to be more aggravation than pleasure.

BBL if I can.

I figure double posting both places gives both groups a chance to at least view what I say. Took several tries this morning to get the pic uploaded to my post here. Then I couldn't get in for about an hour after.

Good rainy morning to you all, 73 here and pouring rain, a "Toad strangler" as my Grandma used to say. We do need the rain, we are very dry here, but we are traveling today, about a three hour trip, so rain is an annoyance. LadyC doesn't like to ride when it is raining/snowing, she would rather drive, so I will get to be chauffeured around today. Gonna spend a few days in Branson, where she can engage in her preferred hobby of Attack Shopping. No kiddos with us this time, so I am gonna spoil her as it is our 42nd Wedding Anniversary tomorrow.
Forum was annoying yesterday, but seems to be behaving today. Hopefully none of you give up as I like you guys and your posts!
Best wishes to all of you.

The forum was a shambles on my end yesterday. I guess my timing was off. Multiple tries at each post, page re-fresh didn't work most of the time, couldn't clear Likes, etc.

We missed all of the severe weather that passed just to the north of here. Last count was no fewer than nine tornadoes in the counties just north and east of here. These thunderstorms were all supercell generated and would seemingly just pop up out of nowhere and start turning with the amount of shear in the low and mid-level winds. We had one good shower that lasted about 15 minutes, a few rumbles of thunder from passing storms, but none of the wind that was forceast to be up to 70 MPH. In fact the wind was almost zero. I didn't even have to close the windows during the rain. The show was over by 2200 and they cancelled the tornado watch for my county as the storms tracked eastward.

Today is cloudy and cool at 62°F with a dewpoint of 61°F, after a dewpoint high of 73°F yesterday. The high only reached about 82°F yesterday so the DP was not as uncomfortable as it usually is here.

I was going to cut grass today, but that is on hold with the wet grass. If the sun doesn't pop out it's going to be wet all day. High is supposed to be 76°F, but we may not even see 70°F at this rate.

Good morning, and have a great Monday!

Servus!

Morning All! 68 in the Brew City this morning, going to a high of 75 under sunny skies. The rain forecast has moved out a couple of days. I see the Forum is still glitchy. This is getting tiresome! I had a quiet Father's Day. Grilled a couple of steaks for the wife and I. I assembled that roll away tool cabinet from Harbor freight. That consisted of bolting on the casters and the handle and installing the drawer liners. Now the fun part: moving tools over, re-organizing things, and lifting that heavy SOB of a top box from the old roll away to the new one. That will require two people, even with the box empty. Snap-On boxes are heavy! I was pleased with the quality of the US General cabinet from Harbor Freight. It's not as beefy as a Snap-On box, but it's also like 85% cheaper, so I'll make do! it's heavy enough for what I need it to do, and since I'm more of a heavy duty DIY'er and not making my living with tools anymore, it's all I need. I remember when, if I was going to buy something and use it once, then throw it away, I'd buy it at Harbor Freight. Not so anymore! They've got some really nice stuff, and prices are still quite attractive. They've come a long way.

On the modeling front, I finished tweaking the mail train. Coupler adjustments, some coupler replacements, and removal of all Kadee trip pins. The New York Central Express cars should get here today, and the BLI GS-4 in the next day or so. Gonna be Christmas in June this week!

I
Well, howdy there internet peeps and those not bots.

It was over 5,000 of them this morning when I logged in.

We'll see if this gets uploaded in any timely fashion.

Made it to the Niece's graduation party (1.5 hour drive away). Things were fine. One of my aunts and uncles were leaving as we arrived. They had family reunion on the other side to get to.

Chatted, drank some sugared sodas (Note to self: Take my own Diet Dr. Ps when the next one happens)

Got home in time for supper. and spent the rest of day sitting on the front porch before the HOA makes me pull in my chairs so they don't offend anyone.

I must have been bit by a spider. Had "pimple" on my shoulder the next morning, and then I felt like crap all day. Ate some yogurt, a couple of cookies, and slice of sourdough cinnamon bread.

Yes my wife has a sourdough starter she's trying to get going so she can get some "clean" bread without all the extras of the processing.

Cinnamon on the left, sourdough on the right.

Our daughter has been making sourdough loaves for a while, and for once wife had to ask the kid "How do you do...?" It's usually the other way around since wife went to the state fair often with her baked goods and home crafts in 4H.

Daughter said to use a Dutch oven to help it cook all the way through. Or put two loaf pans together to make a po'girls dutch oven. Well, wife has two loaf pans and they were both in use.

So I ordered this for her birthday present:

Teal is her color. And it's small enough we can use it for meals for two when it doesn't have bread in it.

Later today I have to interview another author on video for a book club feature. We both write cozies. So I have to hurry up and finish the 2nd half of her book this morning so I can ask intelligent questions. Fortunately, it's only 15 minutes.

Ok... time to push the POST REPLY button. Let's see if it goes through....
I do not live in a HOA community. I saw where you mentioned that the HOA might make you move the chairs off the front porch. Can they really do that-just curious?

Yes. We're in condos. So we own from the paint out, and a share of the complex.

The front stoop is listed in the bylaws as "Common" area. So they have control.

I'm pushing to get a list of what's allowable. Minimum requirements and such.

But, there are a few very vocal residents who don't like personal expression, and don't want to see their neighbors while out for a walk. Our units face the park-like setting with paved walking paths. The "back" side faces the detached garages and parking areas. We have more control over the patio area on the back side. But it's a hot mess in the summer due to it and the garage getting full sun from about noon on.

Working with tools all my life, I have never bought anything from Harbor Freight, Even their knock-off Gerstner & Sons wood tool boxes...FYI US General tool boxes are made in China...Sorry; as for me, I will not buy tools from China

You do you buddy! I've bought a few things from them, no complaints. Would I have rather had the Snap-On box? Hell yeah, but $3500 vs $350 for one that is perfectly serviceable? No brainer! :)

Totally agree!

I was a diesel mechanic for 31 years and my main work box was a Snap-on top and bottom with an add on side box. I spent probably 12K on it. If I had it to do all over again I would of bought a US General box from HF in a second. I could of had the same set up or more for less than a 1/3 of the cost.
