Much the same here.

Good Morning All. Clear and a warm 79°. Same old, same old, hot and dry with a heat advisory until September. I guess on the bright side, it hasn't been getting quite as hot as the weather geeks have been predicting, barely reaching 95° again yesterday. But the lack of noticeable wind has made it seem hotter.
Weekly grocery trek went as planned yesterday, no real surprises at the checkout. Gasoline hasn't changed anywhere, remaining between $3.19/gal and $3.29/gal. I think that I posted a couple of years ago that they were replacing a 5 mile section of a rural state highway that I drive on to get to town, 2 lane blacktop to a 4 lane w/turn lanes. They have completed part of it over a portion of the way and we have been rerouted over nice new concrete lanes. But get this, the whole part that I use goes through totally rural pastureland and they are putting in sidewalks!!! Most of the homes which are 750' - 1250' back from the road itself, are also very far spaced. I can't see the logic here, especially with traffic moving at 55 mph just a few feet away! The cows and horses can't use them since they are all behind fences. I'll have to take the time to get a picture for you guys.
I am being told that the debate last night that I didn't watch, was somewhat boring. Glad that I didn't waste the time. My source did say that there appeared to be a winner though.
I do have a list of tasks that I hope to complete today, but how many get done is questionable. I just can't take the heat as much as I could when younger. None really pressing.
I'm still painting figures out in the train shed, although I took an extended break yesterday to run trains. While I didn't add any more headstones to the cemetery, I did take a progress picture.

I want to add about 25 or 30 more before calling it complete. Since it is an active cemetery, there is a lot of not yet available area and there are a lot of unsold plots remaining. Next I plan to get back to the other scene in the town of Charlottesville and complete the alley behind Garner's Market, distribute some more details and add some weeds along the RR ROW.
Tom O - Our baby rabbit population succumbed to the bobcat a few weeks ago.
Patrick - I don't fly unless there's no other choice. It's just too much hassle. I remember my first flight in the late 50's, when the airline actually removed and turned a row of seats around so we could face the rest of the family! And the food was actually good!
Hughie - I might have actually voted for Kinky Friedman when he ran for governor.
Well, time to get moving, everybody have a great Friday.
Speaking to my very very progressive leaning spouse while she would disagree about a winner, her ending analyst to me is we are screwed no matter what. That to me is finally a great admission on her part. Maybe her rose colored glasses fell off finally….Good Morning All. Clear and a warm 79°. Don't tell Christian about that dino! This Sinclair station in Cassopolis, MI popped up on my Facebook feed this morning. Perhaps I shoulda built the Walthers Cornerstone Service Station kit as a Sinclair station rather than as a Standard Oil station and a Phillips 66 station.

Don't worry!Win or lose in either case we’re screwed.
I believe that one of the rules to last night's debate was that there was to be no on-air fact-checking by the moderators. I didn't watch so I don't know if they followed up or not. I think that it was done that way to avoid some of the raucous behavior displayed during the 2020 debates. Right or wrong, here's a quote from CNN's political director.Well, howdy there internet people and those with debate club experience.
In 1966 Gay Talese wrote one of the greatest pieces of long-form journalism ever. Frank Sinatra Has a Cold.
Last night, as I watched the debate, after the first question to each, I started thinking "that's how I look and sound when I have a cold." I turned off the debate, and switched to social media. It was a better way to experience it.
About five minutes later, "Yep, he has a cold" and the "Drug Test positive: It's Nyquil" jokes began.
Let's just say that social media is LIT today, and there are two definite sides to the issue. So far, those two sides both deal with blue.
My one takeaway other than the issue of the Cold, was that the journo moderators weren't doing very well on fact checking. As in, not at all. They have a responsibility to do so as they ask the questions. And it was rarer than chicken lips last night. Another reason I turned the show off.
Earlier this week, CNN’s political director said not to expect much fact-checking, if any, from moderators Jake Tapper and Dana Bash during Thursday’s debate.
“The venue of a presidential debate between these two candidates is not the ideal venue for a live fact-checking exercise,” David Chalian told The Washington Post.
While the faucet has been discongtinued, have the internal mixing cartridges been discontinued? From my meager experience those are where they usually leak and a lot of faucets from a given brand share the same internals. The original ones are dis-continued so since its a double sink, of course both will have to be replaced.
