Joe - I see a new avatar. Did I ever mention that my son-in-law grew up in Marlton (close to Howell by Texas standards) and his parents still live there and own a business in Cherry Hill. He, daughter and grandkids will be there next week for ten days.
Everywhere in Jersey is close by Texas standards...Marlton is roughly 40 miles from here. Nice area. Cherry Hill is a little further down Hwy 70. Maybe 10 miles more. Howell, is on Hwy US 9, which is probably the longest Highway in Jersey, running from the NY state line to Cape May and the Ferry to Delaware. MP 100 is in Howell . That puts us Mid way North to South.

Evening all,

Early appointment with the surgeon's office and had been running all day.

Dr is happy with my progress so far. Finally understand how the repair was done. I have a titanium screw holding part of it together, so even less reason to fly. Set off the detectors, and get "special screening". I get nervous when security folks holler to get the anal probe. 😄

Have a good night.

No worries about flying, I have several titanium screws and plates in my neck, never set off the metal detectors when I fly.

Good morning all. A coffee on the go please, Flo.
Daughter & SiL are in Glastonbury. They go to the festival every year. Therefore a busy week with looking after grandchildren. Older granddaughter's 'Sports Day' so going to cheer her on. No, I shall not be running in the Parents/Grandparents Race. Those days are long gone.

Good morning from a chilly Wisconsin. It’s 60f degrees with bright clear skies. 75 later with humidity in the 70’s and the dew point at 54 so it’s feels re-freshening outside. It should be a fine morning to cut the grass!

I have a family of new born rabbits under one of the raised beds. The raised bed is 36” above ground and the rabbits have chewed the grass away in spots and burrowed into slight depressions. There are at least 4 babies but they need to be moved as the trimmer needs to get in there!

Breakfast out with the neighbor behind me who was downsized last Friday but she had been looking for a new job anyway. She was an 15 years executive assistant to a CEO who got canned in the Spring at one of the medical companies in Madison. They gave her 2 years severance pay but she also holds stock in the company. Her house is paid for so she said at 45 years old she just wants to finish out the Summer working for a grass cutting crew! Work on her tan and lose some weight! She applied to 3 landscaping companies and the City. All 3 companies offered her, the City will let her know in early July. She says just needs enough to pay her taxes and utilities and last night she said the grass cutting service she starts with on Monday offered her $17 to start, a $2 raise in 30 days and if she works the Winter will guarantee 20 hours a week, snow or no snow! She also said she downsized her boyfriend of 3 years as it was leading nowhere. I wondered why I had not seen him the last couple weeks. Says she will start fresh!

Nothing else after breaksfast except cutting the grass. I WILL NOT be watching the scream fest that they will call a debate on CNN tonight. I believe that will be a fine time to venture into the train room.

For Troy and others who suffer

Good Morning All. Partly cloudy and a cooler (than yesterday) 76°. NWS missed completely on yesterday's weather forecast, it only reached 98° and a severe thundershower developed nearby. Unfortunately it didn't hit us,and it came from the NE, which doesn't happen here except maybe once in 10 years! It did get within 10 miles and the cooler outflow winds were significant...not enough to turn off the A/C, but it didn't have to work as hard. We did get a few droplets. They have revised today's high downward to just 95°, but the heat advisory remains.

Even though I lost track of the days this week, my wife reminded me last night that today is weekly grocery trek Thursday.. So that's on the agenda along with a stop for me at Home Depot, she'll make the Walmart stop which I refuse to do. It'll be too warm after I get home, eat lunch and nap to do anything outside that requires exertion after that, but I am sure that there is a honey-do list lurking somewhere.

One of the granddogs showed up yesterday for a 2 week visit while #2 daughter and family visit Jersey and the Jersey shore. Not sure what Molly thinks, but her favorite shady retreat is not there any more! She looked and walked away confused. Sunday we get the other granddog so #1 daughter and family can visit San Diego. Not sure what the allure is there other than they have never visited before. Several of her friends and coworkers have told her not to bother going, but she is a bit headstrong. Otherwise yesterday was the now usual debris routine. Another missing item became known, it appears that the tornado blew away the package of replacement cord for the weedeater, from my outdoor workbench. I haven't found it yet, hence the trip to Home Depot today.

Out in the train shed yesterday, it was an even split of time between setting more headstones in the cemetery scene and painting figures. Short session since we were going to town to eat later on. I have 17 ready for the dull coat spray, some actually previously completed.

Of special note is this fellow that I highlighted before because of his yellow pants.

He's now seen in the upper right with his new clothes.
Still have a few others in process on the figure pallet.

Maybe pictures of the cemetery after today. I'm about to call it complete for now.

Chris -
That package has bounced around California, and Arizona a long time!
Job security for the USPS employees???
David - I don't recognize most of the names of bands at the Glastonbury Festival this year. Of the 5 names that I recognize (out of at least 40), I have actually only heard the music of Coldplay. I might have heard some of Cyndi Lauper 40 years ago.

Everyone have a good day today.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those amazed that any of Willie's little train patrons survived that horrific mortorcycle crash!

:p

It's Troy again. 69° f currently. Sitting on the patio with the cat. Might actually keep jeans on all day. Only supposed to get up to 79°. Smoking some chicken breasts tonight for dinner.

Breaking in the new hearing aids. Already have a list of need to alter/change started. Need closed domes. I listen to too much streaming music/calls/podcasts using the hearing aids as bluetooth earbuds. They're tinny sounding, especially calls, even after I used my controls on the app to bump the bass and drop the highs. Go in on Tues for the first of several fine tunings....

Tomorrow is the big retirement day for my wife's first boss at the company they've both worked for ever since. That's 30+ years for each of them. They've gone through three name changes, and two buyouts. The company is now part of Labcorp, but in the research and clinical trials division.

Wife is going to drive the 2.5 hours down to a coworker's house in a western suburb of Indianapolis for an open house from 3p to 6p. I could go, but I won't know but one person at the open house. And there's only one train/hobby store on that side of town. Right now there's nothing I need to go make the trip to Big 4 Hobbies while she relives old times with old co-workers.

I might go to Costco later today, and see if they have a brisket. If so, I've got charcoal and a smoker. I know what I'll be doing tomorrow.

Glued arms holding two handed great axes and warhammers onto orcs last night. I cursed. A LOT. The kit is ok for the one handed weapons. but trying to get three points of contact between each arm to shoulder, and one arm to the other weapon that is already attached to the first arm was difficult. Colorful sailor language was used.

Screenshot 2024-06-26 at 8.57.23 PM.png

Fortunately, the kit came with add-on armored shoulder pads. I made extensive use of those to cover gaps. I need to do up another set of 10, but I don't feel like cussing that much right now.
