Mikulski's Bakery, would that have been Barbara Mikulskis' family?

My God Mother worked at the Northeast Market. I can't recall the name of the shop. They made Maryland fried chicken and western fries. I loved those western fries!
I believe they were related. Before she moved to the Senate, she represented East Baltimore...sidebar:.. A group of managers from Conrail in Baltimore arranged for a meeting with her, to lobby against Elizabeth Dole's plan to give Conrail to the Southern Rwy, (NS?). She had coffee and Donuts from Mikulski's to serve us in her East Baltimore office. She was very astute.

Good Morning!

Today's non-hobby rock suggests the emotion Mel feels at the loss of such valued customers that were stalwarts in the community. He remains fairly hot, concerning the events that have recently polluted the sanctuary.
His wish is that all the departed return as soon as possible. It is believed by the village peoples that an apology would go a long way to resolve this issue.
Take a look at that face.

To the credit of some very valued patrons, valiant endeavours are being made to interdict the efforts of those attempting to quash the fluidity of the coffee shop sanctuary.
None-the-less, the general coffee shop atmosphere still swirls in chaos, threatening the longevity of other hobby diners patronage. The general riotous atmosphere in the shop is described in this rock:

Well, I'm not going to keep on taking and posting photos of rocks. Nope, I'm going to resume posting photos of whatever catches my fancy. That includes my layout and hobby work. If those in position wish to kick me out, then that's fine.

I took this set of photos just a few moments ago. This is where I left off, on my layout before the wife became a honey-do Hitler with her garden and renovation wishes.

I hope I can read all about that 'SPLINE' here in the shop. It was wonderful work, and I would like to see how it all turns out.
I also hope to see more of Willie getting cooked in that unliveable Texas heat. It don't seem natural that he can even keep a garden under those conditions.
There are other friends who seem to be MIA, like Hughie, Curt, TomO, and Patrick. Come on back, and we'll all stand together against the hidden foe who apparently don't have the courage to come forward and face us; or Mel and Flo, for that matter.

This is probably my last post for awhile, but only because I'm going on holiday soon. Hope to get lots of photos of BCOL during the trip. I'll be posting those when I get back. And I do hope everything is back to normal by then.

Have a great day!

Are we sure someone complained?
Based on Tony's EDICT post, more than likely. See the first sentence.
THE COMMANDMENT.png

I'm fairly certain the person meant to only organize the forum in what they considered a better way, having no idea that such a seismic shift would totally derail and uncouple this thread from the friendly nature that this forum is known for.

Hopefully by now that/those persons have seen that the character of the Shop and the entire forum has radically shifted. While the post count is staying engaged here, there is a definite undercurrent of resentment for the censorship that is now being held above us, waiting to drop.

Really, one or two complaint's caused all this, c'mon, you've been round the block same as most of us, I very much doubt it, if maybe 15-30 (have we even got 30) member's had complained, then I can believe it, but that would also mean at least three people you know where the ones that must have complained, assuming there was a complaint to start with, what's that phrase lawyer's like to use, you and others are "assuming fact's not in evidence"
Yep. One or two complaints as you say caused this. Too many good and prolific posters of both life and hobby read can easily read that EDICT. It doesn't hide its message.

I'm one of those that is here only because I want the issue to end and let the Coffee Shop threads return to our old happy selves.

This morning I had a real boner of a Troy is a Dumbarse move. My first thought was (after first aid was administered) I can't wait to share this on the coffee shop! Coming here to share my dumbarsedness used to be my first priority after such a move (pending cleanup issues and whatnot).

Then I remembered the EDICT.

It'll be on my social media.

I have read and reread Tony's post. I just don't understand why it ruffled so many here. I took it with a grain of salt and figured he was just trying to bring this to our attention, hence the red text. Yeah, someone brought it to his attention and so he tried to let it be known that it's his and maybe the bosses preference that we post in the appropriate places. He didn't tell us we had to. The red text really bothered you all and I think it got way out of hand. I guess I'm just among the very few that doesn't see the issue. Anyway, that's my final thoughts on this.

Then I remembered the EDICT.
I'm sorry, but I still don't see this as a major issue, people are being asked not to post certain items on the coffee shop thread, some may consider it heavy handed, true, I'm also aware some member's have taken this personally and also, as you repeatedly repeat taking it as an EDICT, sorry, I don't see it that way.

Also perusing thro' the post's about this, I notice several obvious things that could have been done.

1) Contact Tony and ask him to further explain the so called edict.
2) Contact Admin explain the situation and ask that Tony be removed as a Mod.
3) Ask Tony to stand down as a Mod.
4) Ignore the post, (you know full well Tony would be very unlikely ban anyone over this)
5) Start a poll and allow member's to voice their opinion and displeasure if that were the case
7) Make representation to other Mod's or Admin to intervene.
7) Open another thread ie. Coffee shop2, and if closed down simply start Coffee shop 3, etc. in protest.

Instead, you have all, it appears, decided to do absolutely nothing but whinge and whine about it.

Interestingly, I PM'd Sherrell yesterday and asked him to intervene in regard's to the definitely inappropriate post's in the coffee shop that were detracting from normal business, and still nothing, which tells me which way the wind is blowing in regards to this issue, admittedly, I may have missed his post, if so, probably because I was too busy having to scroll past all the crap some of you have been posting.

Not for nothing, not every topic that comes up within the coffee shop interests me, so when I'm rushed, I skip those comments. I have made posts that had a large following, others that "bombed'...Different strokes, for different folks.

Time will tell, there are some polite protests, pushing back against the edict, and if it all fades away then things will go back to normal. However, if someone tries to clamp down...it won't go well for the coffee shop. Not a threat, just an observation.

I know I'm beating a dead horse, but the format worked well for at least 10 years, why change it now? There are folks who regularly participate in the other topics, but stay out of the coffee shop. Some participate in both places, and others like myself only partake in the coffee shop. What's wrong with that? I have a feeling this edict will be counter productive. Is it possible that that was the intent?

I'm in agreement with you, blown way out of proportion.

The coffee shop is a 'one-stop', like Tim Horton's. It's a fast way where one don't need to create a new post in a specific forum area to showcase their work. Plus, lot's of folks here are retired and enjoy the comradery that an open forum showcasing their hobby allows. The coffee shop is the place to make friends.
He didn't tell us we had to.
It was most certainly implied. Worse, using the word 'spline', singles out a good friend. The village peoples are upset because something they enjoy is being messed with. I don't believe anyone goes to a coffee shop with the hopes of looking at rocks.

Smudge. It was an edict. When a moderator posts in red telling you how to behave, that’s an edict.

If a moderator is giving his own opinion he tends to “take the moderator hat” off.

it is being blown out of proportion. But that’s because people tend to be “law abiding” in these parts and so would rather leave instead of break the law or protest by following it exactly. (Or explicitly practice civil disobedience to show how stupid it is. )

It ruffled feathers because it was a sudden end to a long term practice. One of the reasons that these particular members preferred this forum to any of the other online site. Other locations are more topic oriented, and more strictly moderated. The coffee shop provided a free form where one could talk about the weather, their day, their creativity, their opinion (within published limits).

The changes are designed to make this like other forums, and If that's cool with you, that's fine too. But it's going to be a whole lot less interesting around here, and gradually other contributors will also move on.

Good afternoon all. As the 'dust hasn't settled' I think a drink for everyone is called. Flo, give everyone a drink of their choice and put it on my tab.

It is said that the first cruise ship you tavel on, its memory remains a lifetime.

In 1969 SS Uganda was my first cruise ship. The picture is rather dogeared, but the memory is as fresh as yesterday.
