I did the gaming hobby today. One of the younger players is moving to Missouri later this month.

Here's a non hobby pic

Sure like the CSX paint scheme! Hmm Hmm sure pretty!

The only track I have ever been to is Pimlico. Two-Six dollars a race won't win much. I go to see the horses run and see them in the paddock.

I love to watch those beautiful athletes run!

I was going to visit Laural, but they were lobbying to move the Preakness to Laural. That ticked me off! Thankfully, our former governor put that idea to rest. Pimlico is being remodeled (about time) the Preakness will remain in Baltimore!
Laurel (and Timmonium) are the only Maryland tracks I never went to...I even went to the Fair Hill Steeplechase, a one day a year meet in Cecil County. Always meant to go to Laurel, especially after Bowie closed, but never got there. FWIW, I live about 15 miles from Monmouth Park, and have lived in Monmouth County for 36 years, but have never gotten around to going there....Miss Garden State, also. Competition from a Parx predecessor, hastened Garden States demise, (along with another grandstand fire).

So if I'm Indiana Jones, looking to snatch the holy grail of dice here..."how do I get over there?" Well lessee. There's a bunch of (sedimentary, obviously <grin>) rock lying around...

...but then I look again, right down toward my feet...and toward the bottom left...
...and it's not just rock. I see SUCKERS too! Yep. It's one of those predatory beasts that just pretends to look like rock...until you get close enough that it can grab you.

It gets worse. If I look off to the left of the dice I can also see one of those square nosed, three eyed (all in a row) "rock crocodiles." He's lurking too...just waiting for me to do something stupid so he can...AGHHHHH!

Nope. Nope. Not going straight in and not going in from the left. Too dangerous.
I'll take the path in from the right.

Arcangelo won! Trained by Jena Antonucci - first woman trainer to win the Belmont Stakes - 1½ miles in 2:29:23. 👍 In other news, O's 6, KC 1. NYM 5, Pittsburgh 1. LA 9, Phl 0. Boston vs NYY, 0 - 0, as I write.
I bet $10.00 dollars on the 6 Boris and lost, but it was another one of those promo's where you get your money back if your horse runs 2nd or 3rd. So I got my $10.00 back. I have to pay more attention to the promo's so I don't miss any.

Catching the sporadic readers up:

Full disclosure: I'm made 90% of Snark and Sarcasm, but will attempt to deliver this as straight as I can.

the plot so far. Evidently, hobby photos being posted here, as has been the Running Bear tradition for 10 years, has offended one or two members. Rather than broaching the concerns to the group and asking for users to use moderation in such, they headed to the mod team to get their knickers untwisted.

I suspect that with Terry (BNSF) on the great porcelain loo for the last week, it fell to Tony to be a solo act. Just a guesstimate on my part, but these types of decisions usually occur in times like this.

Member or Members with knickers twisted about too many hobby photos here in Running Bears Coffee Shop needed to have hobby photos sorted nicely into column A, Column B, etc on their forum spreadsheets.

Tony listened, and issued the edict with nary a warning to the forum members:

This was the screech of a needle sliding all the way across an original pressing of Dark Side of The Moon, or Sgt. Peppers.

Instead of informing us that some members were having knicker issues about tooooo many hobby photos getting passed around the pub/coffee shop tables, we're now verboten from doing so. This could have easily been a friendly suggestion or a private message from the Knickers contingent to the people posting too many pics. Instead, they complained behind the scenes, and... Squeaky Wheel.

While Karl and his quest for Spline for his layout was mentioned by topic in Tony's edict as being offensive to the Knickers contingent, the top daily purveyor of layout pics in the years since I've been a part of the forum was Willie. Intermingled with his garden photos, pool photos, or neighbor's lone cow photos, were his inspirational layout photos.

Willie, rightly, read the writing that the Knickers contingent wanted him to stop. Tony's edict gave him little choice. Willie is taking a hiatus from the forum. And from the coffee shop. Which is very unfortunate. Karl announced his departure as well. Gone for good? Who knows.

Several other long-time, and helpful members - true assets to the hobby and to the forum - could read the handwriting from the Knickers contingent. Keep your hobby to yourself. There's a place over there for it. Don't sully Running Bears Coffee Shop with your hobby photos.

And thus, the Knickers crowd fundamentally changed not only 10 years of tradition in Running Bears Coffee Shop, but also the nature of this extremely friendly and helpful forum.

Here endeth the lesson!
Well stated in a civil manner. (I would have preferrd the snark and sarcasm version, but common sense and good judgment prevailed).

My latest kit paint and assembly project- 20 years ago we bought a wood porch swing just before I found out my work was being sent back to Alabama. The chain set was missing so I got the swing very cheaply and have procrastinated putting it together.
Since I have some experience building and painting model kits, my wife felt that I should take on this project...immediately.
Last weekend, we found a free standing swing support and I have removed nature's weathering and repainted it. It is the light gray support in this picture below.

The boss lady did not like the way I was painting the swing, so she showed me how she wanted it done.
The swing is now assembled, except for 4 eyebolts to attach the chain that came with the support. I foresee a trip to Lowes in my future.

So modelers, you, too, may have the opportunity to apply your modeling skills to real life.

Good morning, Everybody!

I had a little HO layout! That is exactly like the locomotive that came in the set my Mom gave me in 1974. Thanks to help from Jeffery and Garry it ran great the last time I used it!

Not my original set. But it was the one I had. I found this on eBay. That began my lifelong love of trains, thanks Mom, I miss you!

The last six years for one reason or another I have not been able to begin my permanent layout. Runing Bears Coffee Shop has kept my interest in trains. All the great layouts I have seen here are inspirational!

Running Bear's Coffee Shop means so much to me.
