The 'thumbing through' part - put a stack next to chair for after dinner relaxing and I grab one every once-in-awhile. Do get a kick out of the ads. It is funny though, seems my long term memory is OK, soon as I flip to a page with someone's layout or a scratch building page .. it is the 'hmmm I remember this!' syndrome....

I remember when Total Eclipse of the Heart was in top 40 rotation back in the 80s. They played that song over and over and over again. I liked it back then, but got burned out on it over the decades.

Good morning folks. Another typically soupy day in Southern Illinois today. Currently 76°F/75°F with severe expected after 1400. It tried storming last evening again and I listened to it thunder for nearly two hours, but we didn't get a drop of rain and all of the pop-up thunderstorms barely missed us.
Nothing happening today except staying cool. Heat Index will be nearing 100°F before the storms arrive. What I really hate about summer is taking a morning shower and needing another one by 1700 if any time is spent outside on days like this. I've taken two showers a day lately because I hate that sticky feeling.
Counting the days until Oktober.

The random function usually assigned to F30 is a great feature of ESU. I sometimes program crew communications at long intervals, curve squeal and frog crossing at closer intervals, brake blow off, etc. There isn't much you can't do with an ESU decoder and a Lokprogrammer.

The track is probably 40" Lionel never made 41". It's likely you measured pin‑to‑pin. Lionel track should be measured end of rail‑to‑end of rail, not pin‑to‑pin.
Regardless, as you can see from the listing i posted a link to from Tainz for used 40" track your price of $60 is excellent. Right on the money to sell it quick.
Back pain is a known side effect, though not a common one. Tamsulosin relaxes smooth muscle, which can subtly change posture or pelvic alignment; especially in men who already have back issues.
Tamsulosin is an alpha‑1 blocker. It relaxes the smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck, which can make urine flow easier, reduce hesitation, and cut down on nighttime trips
Thinking of the urinary channel like a doorway - Compared to a UroLift, Tamsulosin is like opening a stuck door instead of rebuilding the doorway. Tamsulosin is like spraying WD‑40 on the hinges; the door opens easier, but the doorway hasn’t been rebuilt.
UroLift is like having the doorway rebuilt by pulling the frame outward.
Tamsulosin helps symptoms but doesn’t fix the underlying obstruction. UroLift fixes the obstruction but doesn’t affect prostate size. They’re completely different approaches. One is chemical relaxation, the other is mechanical widening.
There are medications and procedures that can shrink the prostate, but that is something you should discuss with your doctor.

Good Morning All. Clear and 77° to start my day. Once again today, the weather geeks are predicting 102°, which didn't happen yesterday as forecast. They're still teasing us with rain on Sunday & Monday, but only a 50% chance of a quarter inch.
Much of the same old stuff around here yesterday, starting with the dishwasher and a load of laundry. I'm in the "hot days of summer" mode right now, so only a minimum of outdoor stuff. I did do about 45 minutes of tree pruning very early, some of those pesky trees that have low branches that swat me while mowing. Hackberry trees will grow profusely even without rain.
Today of course, is weekly grocery trek Thursday, that will also include the seemingly weekly stop at the pharmacy. Seems that the PCP's office staff screwed up a prescription for my wife that needs to be returned and the correct one picked up. Might have to stop at Jersey Mike's after reading Karl's post yesterday. It's been a few weeks!
More of the same out in the train shed yesterday. I did complete the vacuuming of all track; main, passing sidings and industrial spurs. Had to move a few cars out of the way to do it. I added the graffiti to that DRGW 86' boxcar from ScaleTrains. Had to scrap the first decal as I screwed it up. Got to remember to cut those really long ones in half and apply them separately.
Done with graffiti decals for now.
Michael - Surprisingly how fast water line breaks get fixed out here in the boonies. Usually within 90 minutes of first being reported. Usual offenders are the fiber-optic installation folks. Reminds me of an incident maybe 10 years ago, when they were installing it in our area. I went out to the front of my property to observe briefly, and one fellow asked me (in broken English), if I knew where the water lines might be. I roughly traced it from what I knew, but I wasn't around when it was installed 40 years earlier, so I was guessing. I immediately went inside and called the water company, and within 10 minutes they had a guy out marking the line. Turns out that I was within a foot of the actual location. I had to do it again on my side of the meter a few weeks later as well as point out my underground electric main when they were making the actual house hookup. Different crew.
Karl - I get my sandwiches "Mike's Way" as well, but minus the Tomato. Around here, their Tomato quality just isn't real good. I have them add the pickles as well.
Good luck to your son (and you & wife) with his job search.
Mike - We stepped away from Red Lobster for about a year and a half also. Went back in May and found that they had improved greatly. Still no customers though. It will take time to get them back.
A lot of musical birthday's today, the late Lee Hazlewood was born on this day in 1929; the late AC/DC singer Bon Scott was born in 1946; late Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell was born in 1946. There's a few others that I don't listen to, such as Courtney Love (Hole), Jack White (White Stripes) and Frankie Bello (Anthrax).

Kind of a cloudy gloomy morning. Sun is trying to poke thru and should later. Currently its a sticky 74F and the high will reach 87F.
Humidity is back with a vengeance today.
Usual stuff around the house this morning. Lawn is looking like tomorrow if rain holds out, which it should.
Have another league volleyball game tonight. Our last game isn't until 7:40 so we probably wont be home till late. Last one for this
week.

Agreed on a little better content for the last few years, but mostly for the manufactures that support the mag. We won't even talk about the price per page though.

Good morning from home in Wisconsin.
We landed at the airport in Madison at 4:45am after a miserable time getting from Vegas to Denver. Then missing the original flight to Madison direct so we ended up going to Chicago’s O’Hara and finally home. But we are here and I know sometime today I will crash and burnout but right now I’m kind of perky. I rarely can sleep on a plane though Terry slept most of the 3 flights
The temperature when we left for the Vegas airport at 8pm was 107! This morning in Verona it’s a pleasant 73 feels like 73 and is heading to 83. We saw lots of storms out the window coming east but the pilots all avoided them nicely. It has always amazed me looking out above the lightning, so neat and of course very strange.
There is no way we could have continued another 5 days in Las Vegas with the temperatures above 100f and I cannot stay indoors for 5 straight days. So between my brother’s heart issues and Terry’s COPD we came home and he goes home to Maui Friday. We handled the business we needed to Wednesday so off we went after dinner
I have no plans other than heading to get some milk, lunch meats and pick up the car at the dealer

56F @ 61% partly. Only got to 84F yesterday.
We did little stuff yesterday. Maria read that 40% Vinegar in a 1 to 2 water mix will kill weeds. Gave it a try and it completely trashed Thistle, Blue Bells, Dandies and a few other varieties. Spray, wait and hour or so and everything turns black. Nap Weed is still standing tall although I haven't checked this morning yet. Commercial stuff for that is spendy and not user friendly.
Urolift: Asked my Doc about this for shrinking my Prostate. VA does not support, so she had me try Tamsulosin HCL. Stay away from this stuff. After about 3 weeks/month, my lower back became a PITA. I figured that I had tweaked something and went to the Chiro. Bones moved and felt better. Wait 2 days and back to the same thing. Finally read the disclaimer - gee, guess what - can cause lower back pain. That is a misnomer, does cause back pain and not simple light pain. 3 days after quitting, the pain is gone!
I don't know why my paper airplane won't fly. Must be Stationary.

Good late morning folks, slept in til about 830 and am just now finishing off the last of the first pot of coffee. 88 here heading for 94 later with possible rain/storms [that could be the forecast for now til late August here]. Finalized the building placement for the two TTrak modules with Lady C's input, she has a great eye for stuff looking good. Will get to the store today for gray [or grey for you European friends] grout and some poster board so I can trim the Unitrack ballast and then put down the road on one.

Supposed to get up to mid 10x F this weekend I was told today. We’ll see. It’s been in the 90s. We usually do get one or more spells of over 100.
Tom — Vegas is another level of heat. When we came home from Japan in June 2025 we came home through Vegas. Just getting off the plane and walking through the jet bridge to get off the plane and into the terminal was bad. The heat came through. Supposedly it was 107F or 108F. Luckily SLC was over 10 degrees cooler when we got home.
