hmm, going to have to investigate. Kato does have a microscoping cap near their led feed. I thought it was just an imperfection, but looked more closely.
Leave it at Warp10 as that seems like more fun.

RG Rokko, a retailer in Japan had this on their website. I never read it before.

"On July 30, 2025, the U.S. government issued an executive order titled "Termination of De Minimis Treatment for All Countries" regarding mail to the United States. In response, Japan Post, in line with other national postal operators, temporarily suspended acceptance of postal items (small packets, parcels, and EMS) to the United States starting August 27.

At RG-Rokko, we continue to ship items to customers in the United States via DHL or FedEx*, as before."

@chadbag can attest to their character.

This is a shop that really cares for their customers, understanding that they may be from abroad.

This is in stark contrast to a DCC sound retailer in UK that I recently encountered that told me that he'd rather lose one international customer than make a change. This was a response to the fact that their website lists all of their stuff in JPY vice GBP. Since I fall out of their VAT, the price should be 83%, but since it changes it to JPY, I don't know how much it costs. And, I don't want to be subjected to a double conversion rate where I lose a little blood going from GBP - JPY - USD. I find that a few UK retailers use shopify which uses location.

Good Morning All. Clear and 76°, might hit 100° today. Didn't make it in the last two days, even though the NWS predicted it. I did see 99° on my thermometer briefly shortly after 5. They still think that it's going to rain next week, but the probable days have been pushed back to Tuesday-Wednesday.

Yesterday's grocery trek went quickly for a change. Gassed up the car. Price jumped by 35¢/gallon since last week, to $3.39 in most places. Pharmacy did not have one of my meds ready yet, but it was ready after we went around the corner to the post office and back. PCP's staff still hasn't gotten my wife's medicine right yet, so we left without it. Good thing that it's not critical.
Dang! The pool temperature has risen to 92°; a little bit warm but still refreshing when it's 99° outside. Haven't been able to use the shade umbrellas because of the windy days this month.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I resumed cleaning structures. I am reminded that I have done some detailing over the years that is practically invisible, only known to me. Case in point.
Under normal viewing conditions:

With added lighting I get this:

Building is slightly shifted in these shots.
Another structure that I tidied up, I needed to add some business signs to.
On the LH side of this building is a cafe.

On the RH side is an appliance store.

I was unable to find an appliance store sign in my stash, so I'll have to make one on the computer. But I found an appropriate one for the eatery.

To be continued.

Terry -
If you want something, get it now. The price of ram and storage has increased over 600% in the last year because of AI data centers gobbling up everything in sight.
Yeah! But it sure has made my investments in chip stock rise significantly.

Today's musical birthday's include folk singer Arlo Guthrie who is 79 today; and the late Ronnie James Dio, vocalist for Black Sabbath and Rainbow was born in 1942.

Everybody have a fine Friday.

Good morning to the cap investigators, the penny hoarders and rest of us. I love to travel but being home is so nice! It’s 69f degrees at 8 am as I start typing here in So. Central Wisconsin. 84 later and still dry!

Back at Christmas 2025 at a party at the daughter’s I was approached by a couple I barely knew. I did know their son from the slot car racing sessions and them barely on the sidelines watching soccer. They asked me if I would paint them something for a room in their house. Surprised I told them I wasn’t an artist. She said you still weather trains and I said yes, she said your an artist. Not convinced I said thanks but no.

Mentioned it to Terry a few days later and she laughed and said I’ve been telling you for years to get some canvas and paint. You’re an Impressionist! I have had zero art appreciation classes and no intentions of ever taking one. Most artists I have met seem like actors, attorneys and bankers IMOO the perfect imagine of a snob. Well, I am now a snob. I have been painting small canvases since February basically during the extended model railroading funk time. I have done 3 canvases 3’x 4’ the rest smaller.

Like anything I do I fell deep into the painting on canvas hole. 21 canvases since February. The women who was part of the couple at the Christmas party was in our daughter’s office last week and the room I have been using for my weathering and painting on canvas Kait told me she left the door open. Her friend wandered in and saw my canvases. The daughter called me in California and asked if I wanted to sell any. I said sure except for the 1st one I finished! Price? I told her whatever her friend offered! I am now a paid artist and miraculously my sh.t no longer stinks!

I have no plans for the day other than trying to relax

Good morning all!

Happy Friday!

A sunny morning but very sticky out there. Currently its 74F and the high will reach about 86F. Possibly a few scattered
showers later this afternoon, but only a 50/50 shot at it.

later this morning when it dries out I will mow. U also have to run my daughter to the Orthodontist at 1:30 for a braces adjustment.

About all that's going on at the moment.

have a safe day everyone!

Good morning. It looks like we'll be in the upper 80's or low 90's for the foreseeable future. I took my girls up to the Libby Dam rec area early yesterday when it was still cool. Spent almost 2 hours and left just before noon and it never got uncomfortable. Even when I took them out yesterday evening, the thermometer read 90 but there was a light breeze and so long as you were in the shade, it wasn't bad at all.

Ran around trying to get what I could locally. I picked up some angle iron to span between the "L" shelf brackets so the OSB wouldn't fall when it was being slid forward for removal.

Realized that I didn't even have any Elmer's glue. Got that and some paint.
I put the mirrors on each end of the space the module will be and the mirrors definitely made the space look larger.

Willie - As usual, excellent photos.

I had tried to get on the forum a couple of times but was unable to finish a post. WASSUP ???

Have some things to do I I'll cut it short today.

LATER

No, I have done that in the past and all it does is makes the loco uncontrollable. 0-warp10 in 1 degree of the throttle.

The capacitor is causing the decoder to see, or confuse the track voltage as DC. In many cases, manufacturers recommend taking the capacitor out of the circuit when programming for that reason. I haven't had any trouble with my locomotives that have one of these caps installed, but some do, especially when installed aftermarket.

77°F/74°F this morning. Not sure what happened to the neighbors, but other than stopping by last night for a few minutes, they haven't been at their house for the last three days. Blissful peace! I hope they never come back.

Supposed to rain and thunderstorm on and off all day today. Last night it didn't start until after 2300, but had started thundering at about 2000. No rain until long after bedtime. Yesterday was actually rather pleasant in spite of the dewpoint since the sun never showed its face yesterday. I think the high only reached about 85°F after a forecast of 93°F.

Nothing going on today. Just another steamy Saturday for me. Have a great Friday if you're still slaving for the Man!

Servus!

That remark Tom gave me a real belly laugh. It also reminded me of what my friend and hobby mentor Howard Zane has told me multiple times. Model Railroading is a 3 dimensional art form.

Do you have any pics of your art work?
No and I’m torn about taking any. I feel it might be too egotistical or maybe I’m worried people will laugh. Until last week only Terry and possibly the daughter have seen the canvases.

Found these Amanitas in my yard this morning. These are tall boys at 6" for the shortest one. I won't know what variety of Amanita until they open. If they are what I think they are, the caps will turn red after they open in a day or two.

I have some in my yard, but not quite as large. I have been picking them and tossing them since I have a Lab that will eat anything!

Willow was curious about them, but left them alone. I had some smaller mushrooms in a partial Fairy Ring in my back yard and she was more curious about those. They were much, much smaller than these guys.

I never know what's going to pop up in this yard. I've had several varieties on fungus pop up here in the past years. It's almost like living in the woods, and in parts of the yard, it's not far from it.

A couple of years ago I had a bumper crop of Boletes pop up. And while they're edible, I was too lazy to pick and clean them. They don't keep long either so they need to be cooked soon after picking and I wasn't in the mood for a plate of mushrooms.
