Good morning! It’s 27f now 43 later.

Terry said last night we have zero planned for the day. I may visit the friend today that I am building the engine shed, power plant and paper mill for. He leaves the 20th for Hawaii and Arizona for I think 3 weeks. He has the LEDs for lighting the structures. I’ll definitely have the power plant and engine shed ready to install when he returns so I’ll use what he has to light it up. The engine shed is done except for 1 light. Plus he has more paint, CA and Model Masters glue for me to pick up

The son and girlfriend landed in Japan last night. He’s now 15 hours ahead of us. They are there for fun and adventure. She is getting another installment of ink by a tattoo artist, they will see a band on tour there where they both have friends in it and they are going snowboarding. All that besides sight seeing. I’m supposed to know the details but as they text us, if I remember I’ll say something

I’m going to the LHS this morning. I’m going to buy the 2 Walthers Diesel houses he has in HO and 4 of the service platform kits. I can build one kit and try to sell it locally here and the other one for a diorama 18” x 44” for me. The size fits a part of my layout that used to be the load out for ethanol both rail and truck! If my guy in LA ends up wanting it I’ll have it for him. I’m now intrigued enough by this kit to really want to build one. I watched a video about 5 years old yesterday and it was a real time build. I could tell because he edited out nothing and his build skills were atrocious! He used so much glue it squished out of the joints. Every joint and he made no attempt to clean the overflow. When he rattle canned spray bombed it he had lots of voids but was very proud of the build. I now have watched 5 videos with a list of notes on issues I now know about. Lots of repetitive actions. There are 44 platform support I-beams and 154 rail supports. Only 2 videos though went into the building of the walls that are flimsy. 1 guy did add support. Do I need another project? No! But I can put this on my pull out bench or take it to the daughter’s work shop and assemble it there when I feel like it. Either place I can push it out of the way not to interfere with anything else going on. The paper mill for the friend if I work on it 10 hours a week will still take me months. I now have enough plus extra styrene parts to complete the power plant and start the paper mill structures that has been approved but with less details. So when I get tired of the paper mill I can switch. No, I will not do a thread build on it!

Enjoy your day

I do a similar thing, I drive 4 extra miles to and from work, to save 12 minutes.
That’s smart. I did go 6 miles out of my way the last 4 years working as HWY 10 in Wisconsin was made a 4 lane divided highway and 70mph. The shorter way I traveled the prior 17 years was literally through the woods to what felt like grandma’s house with more deer and turkey then you could shake a stick at! I was saving about 15 minutes each way

Morning folks, its currently 41 and mostly sunny. Had a pretty good weekend, Saturday I helped my dad clear up some downed limbs that have been sitting for months, then we all went to a local Italian restaurant that used to be an old Taco Bell. Had chicken parmesan with a side of spaghetti. Good stuff! Sunday was feeling lazy, but I braved the chill and ended up washing my truck and gave the hood a quick wax job. Finished off the day with some stuffed bell pepper soup.

Also been farting around on XTrackCAD for my 2x5 HO scale switching layout. Mainly did this to get an idea of how it'll look, I'm sure things will change once I start putting down track. There's a good chance I'll start improvising.

Well howdy there internet peeps and those still farting around

It's Troy again.

Just got back from the Peep Show... err... I mean Optometrist. Had to get my peepers checked out.

No dilation this time since I did the Optomap pics (an extra $39). I did have to get the numbing yellow drops so they could check the pressure in my eyes. Since I'm using the Teeter table, and I had the PVD a couple of years ago. Doc said I was fine to keep using the teeter table.

Book releases tomorrow. Today is laundry day.

Cat isn't up to snuff lately. He's started heading under our bed once we're up. No clue why. He lays under there, then comes out in the afternoon and is his normal self after that. Gonna keep an eye on him.

I'm playing with Hot Glue strips and spray paint trying to make some Ectoplasm/Energy streams for models. If it works, I'll post pics later.

I feel that a couple forum members deserve an "atta boy" for their recent interactions with me.
I purchased some recycled rolling stock from Auburn Central and vintage vehicles from Montanan.
Both transactions were completed with pictures, texts and phone calls. Both Gentlemen were easy to deal with and very pleasant communicating with me. Pricing was reasonable and the merchandise arrived well packaged and in good shape.
In a time of so many digital scammers, it is a very pleasant experience to deal with people like I did 40 years ago.
This is just one more example of the type people who make up this forum and help one another.

I now take the toll road vice drive the surface roads. I'm not sure what the difference in distance is, but not having to deal with all them yahoos makes it worth it. Since my engine is only 660cc, I pay motorcycle rate. I think it is 220 yen each way @ 150 yen/$ = $1.50. And I get highway miles vice city. Totally worth it.

Good afternoon to all our lunatics who actually understand.

The son texted how impressed he is with Tokyo, Japan so far! Says it’s very crowded but seems pretty organized. They are staying at the Hotel New Otani. Going sightseeing today

I am working on too many things today but whittling away at each of them

I have an air brush that is kaput! Double action but press the trigger and its immediately spraying paint. It’s a Badger Extreme Patriot 105 and is probably my second most used airbrush. I can send it to Badger under its lifetime warranty for shipping costs of $21.00 for up to 3 air brushes but my other brushes are fine. Started around Thanksgiving finally today I had enough. I’ve fixed air brushes forever it seems but this one has got me baffled. I may send 2 other brushes just to have them tuned up. I’ve used this service once before Covid and they fixed a brush I purchased in 1976 before I married. I still use that single action brush but only for clear coats of either satin or matte

Be well

I've not stayed at the HOtel New Otani in Tokyo but I've hard good things about it. I did stay at the Hotel New Otani in Makuhari (outside of Tokyo) when I was there for my first time in Japan and I had a booth at Macworld Tokyo 2000. It was nice and not super pricey. I had a small single business-man room so it was nothing special but the service was excellent and the hotel itself was nice. I assume the main one in Tokyo is a lot better.

The winds are back and it is quite warm outside. Tokyo is having very nice weather so sightseeing should be good.

The warm weather, however, means that I will start hating life in a few weeks. Cedar pollen kills me nowadays. I was fine for the first 15 years here, but I made a mistake and bought visine AC one time. I'm not sure how that works, but I have been weak to cedar pollen since. This season will run into April, so I have my supply of diphenhydramine and netipot packs standing by. Started taking the diphenhydramine yesterday.

What I don't understand is why we have so much cedar trees everywhere. The entire country knows that a very large portion of the population suffers from this every year, yet nothing had been done. Big pharma has made enough money for their next 3 generations to retire as soon as they are born, so enough is enough.

My wife told me that the science-ists have created a hybrid cedar tree or something that doesn't cause the hayfever. Great! Let's see how that pans out. Maybe it'll spawn a pterydactyl sized wood pecker or something. My idea is that they should have started cutting down the trees decades ago. Do it in waves, like the way the wood business does it. Cut down a bunch and plant something else. Reduce the need for drugs and face masks.

The pollen is so bad that my car always has yellow dust on it. I remember catching a train from Kyoto to Maizuru that had a nice big windows. As we traveled, I started seeing a large yellow cloud flying overhead. By the time we reached Maizuru, I was sicker than a dog.

Can a DR. prescribe something stronger than over the counter remedies?

Can a DR. prescribe something stronger than over the counter remedies?
I think I tried before, but most of that stuff has the same effect of causing drowsiness. That, along with the pain meds and BP med made me a zombie, so I decided to take the allergy med only at night. Sleep was needed and the ability to drive was important.

Soon, the weather guesser sites will start tracking the yellow cloud to let me know that I am killing over.
