Good afternoon all. We are still in La Spezia.

We have visited nearby Cinque Terre. We do love the area.

Now to visit Florence, a must on my good ladies 'bucket list'.

Then to Rome and the Vatican City. Anzio is on my list

A journey on the La Dolce Vita Oriental Express https://www.orient-express.com/la-dolce-vita/a-dream-train/
to Venice and Tuscany back to Rome.

We end our visit to Italy at the end of the month in Civitavecchia. A ship to travel on

The person I built the layout for ended up buying this starter NEC DCC Power Cab from Hobby Link which I thought was a good deal. He's using my Power Cab which is the full version for the now until his unit shows up Wednesday. Swal

Good Morning All. It's clear and 42° out on the porch this morning, not as cold as predicted (35°) but it's still a bit before sunrise yet. Upper-50's later on and a possible freeze tonight. Mild for a few days until another cold front Wednesday night; that is if the NWS can be believed.

Quiet day here yesterday, just general tasks and chores. Installed new filters in the air purifier, brought in firewood for a bit of exercise and had baby back ribs for supper. Wife made a delicious pan of cornbread to go with it.
Today will be starting with the dishwasher and laundry. After my nap I'll get the bed linen laundry. Hopefully Father John will shorten his homily today!

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued with structure cleaning and rehab. Spent some time on another laser-cut wood structure, this one from American Model Builder's called 139 Maple Street. However I use it as another farmhouse. This one needs some work. That "peel & stick" stuff unsticks and peels after a few years. The roof on this model needs some work.

Not just the roof, but many trim pieces as you can see in the first picture. Here's a start.

That's where I left it overnight. The other end is next. I'll need to address that white streak where the roofing strips separated. I cleaned off a few other plastic structures, but did no other detailing on them.
Today will be a short day out there, as is typical of Sundays.

Swal - That's a fine looking little layout that you built there. I hope that you are going to add some people to enjoy it.
Bill -

With me, it's not the day of the week, but the date. When working, I had to sign and date things a dozen or more times a day and that's one of the first things that I started ignoring after retiring.
Mike -

But you never get a day off or a vacation!
Troy - Mexican Ramen is a real thing, but not something that you can get at Taco Bell. I like it better with Cheddar or Monterrey Jack cheese on it.

Sad about Bob Weir's death. He was greatly overshadowed by other members of the band, but he was the vocalist on some of their best material; Truckin', Casey Jones, Playing in the Band and Sugar Magnolia immediately come to mind. There are many others.

Everyone have a great Sunday.
Willie there hard to see in the photo but the golf holes have golfers on the tees and greens. The next time I go over there I will add some towns people. Swal

Good morning to the Dead Headers, the breaders and the remaining modelers. Happy Sunday unless you’re a Packer fan trying to stay away from the edge of the cliff. My cool, calm and collected life long Packer fanatic was beside her self last night. After the 4 bags of popcorn game she looked at me and said, no it’s not your lucky night and I agree with you he needs to go! He is Coach LaFluer. Absolutely pathetic 2nd half showing of a professional team. I’ll predict he’s gone by a Wednesday. 3rd playoff failure in a row they’ve had good 1st half leads and blew the finish…

The grandson and his team played the most uninspired game of hockey yesterday at 12:30. The grandson and the way he played yesterday left me wondering what’s going on. He’s a constant motor but not last week on the streaming games from the UP or yesterday. I asked the SIL about it and he said the coaches told the team either play a certain way or lose ice time. Seems like the team is playing the up and down stay in your lane game the coaches want. Today’s game is at 9:45am. According to the stats on line the grandson in 60 games has 42 goals and 36 assists. I think both the coaches and kids are burnt out

The client in Venice said to hold off on the Diesel house, service platform module build. He did ask when I’m coming out to see my sister in Pasadena. His texts yesterday were interesting. He asked how much layout could we build in a week? My reply that it depends on the plan. Where he’s at on the beach and my sister is about 20 miles distance. I’ve met him twice in Venice for breakfast and it was less than an hour on a Sunday morning but almost 2 hours on a Wednesday because of an accident. His HOA prevents construction noise without permitting! i’m Not kidding. I also told him I’m not coming out to build a layout in a week from scratch. I told him to check if Sievers still makes benchwork to order

I’m almost finished weathering some freight cars and should be done by next weekend. The calendar is clear so I may have time at the bench without disruptions. I may finish an Engine Shed for the paper mill in the next couple days and the 2nd of 3 walls for the power plant.

Terry ordered online before football yesterday our non essential groceries at HyVee last night. It’s spend $50 and get $.25per gallon fuel saver for each $50, she ordered $160. She ordered things like toilet paper, paper towels, salt for the softener, my diet Dr Pepper (very essential) and a few more things we need to get to that she doesn’t need to see before see buys! She has to see meat, produce and dairy so all that is in person.

Terry’s awake and her 1st words to me were, “Those damn Bears”.

Enjoy your day

$200 for the Power Cab. 3 years ago I paid $120 for mine from Tony’s Trains with free shipping. I just looked, the best pricing I could find online was $185 from Lombard Hobby plus shipping. Prices are climbing for sure.

Tom I knew actually knew Tony when he owned Tony's trains and bought my NEC DCC Power Cab unit from him years ago. It was a lot more than $120.00 but it was the full version of the product. I haven't bought anything from the new owner. I did look at some DCC units there but for some reason you have to add it to the cart before you can see the price. Why is that? I did not buy the unit for the golf course owner there for that reason. I think that's a dumb move by the new owner. I'll have to admit $120.00 is a great for the unit. Swal

SWAL. My price though was 3 years ago.

I was told years ago by Hiawatha’s owner that sometimes Manufacturers will allow a greater sale discount to Hobby shops to clear inventory. They don’t want the price captured by the online robots so they hide it in the put it on order page. I sort of understand that.

When do you start planning to play golf for the new season. After maybe 6 weeks off from hitting on the simulator I hit some balls last Friday.

Good morning all!

A brisk, cloudy Sunday morning out there. Currently 26F but with the stiff wind it feels like only 3F. Not going to get much warmer with
an expected high of 31. Had a very light dusting of snow overnight. Might see the sun later, but who knows.

Not sure what we will be doing today. Everyone is still in bad at the moment. I was up early but ended up dozing in my recliner.

Time to scare up some breakfast.

Have a safe day everyone!

Tom Dogwood Golf Course is open all year but no carts in the winter. I don't mind walking, but the course is all ice right now. When the ice is gone the group I play will start playing again and I'll be there with them. It's good you're playing again. If you ever make it to NY let me know and you can play with us. Swal

Back from another loss by the grandson’s hockey game . 1-2 grandson played so much better than yesterday. Hit a pipe and cross bar but his engine was revved and that was good to see. 2 games this afternoon were cancelled 2 different teams but at the same arena in a Milwaukee suburb. His parents were thrilled not to have to drive this afternoon.

Just had my breakfast/lunch as I forgot to eat breaksfast this morning. A grilled cheese sandwich and a bowl of tomato soup. Warmed me up!

Have a great day

My friends in California are telling me there is no such thing as Mexican Ramen. I just shrug and point out we got it at the local Mexican restaurant, it's full of cilantro and chili spices. They can "fusion" their menu any way the want.
Del Taco has been advertising a Birria ramen. I haven’t tried it as the “meal” was $12 for a cup, some fries, and a drink.

But it’s two data points for a Mexican style ramen.
