Brrrrr, woke up to house temperature of 62.
Heat pump is barely generating heat.
Typical for a Saturday morning. Service calls cost twice as much on weekend.
I'm sorry to hear about the heat trouble. Do you have any space heaters? They can fill the gap until Monday. If not bake something in the oven, boil some water on the stove and stay in or near the kitchen.

On the bright side, it is supposed to be 60 tomorrow. Try to keep your back warm.

Good morning to all, chili eaters or not. The weather guessers may have scored a direct hit yesterday. They said 4-6” between 3pm and 7 last night. My driveway got 5+ so in my book they got one! Today the WeatherChannel app is saying maybe another 1” before noon and 2” by midnight. It is a balmy +20f degrees feeling like +16 heading to 30! I am surprised by my snow clearing service, they have not been here yet and it’s 7:06am CST.

THE MadCity train show is today and will continue tomorrow. I’m torn if I should go or not. I really don’t need anything. I don’t mind the $15 ticket to get in but I do dislike the parking fees. The last few years there have been IMOO no good deals. The layouts and I love looking at layouts have been here before. I do have though at least 8 commission clients plus 1 club there that I have done quite a bit of weathering for. Like I said I’m torn. The weather IMO is no factor as the roads should be cleared and 1-2” of snow is no problem driving in.

The grandson has a hockey game at 4:30 about 35 miles south. So that will be watched on a live streaming app. We will have the granddaughter this afternoon and early evening. I guess she told her mom Wednesday she’s “done” with watching hockey! She said grandma will watch her!!! So she’ll be here

Enjoy your day

Good morning all!

Happy Saturday!

Currently 28F. Had about 3" of snow fall last night into early this morning.

Today is my daughters 14th Birthday. We are heading this morning to the outlet mall for some shopping. Then she wants lunch at Chilis, and dessert at Stone Cold Creamery. She has been planning this day for weeks. Probably going to be an expensive day!

Have a safe day everyone!

Morning all,

Currently 37° going for a high once again of 23° 🤷‍♂️. Cold front coming through going to change the wind from 40 mph from the south to 35 mph from the north.

Not much happening around here yet. Wife woke up not feeling good, so I'll be upstairs most of the day so I can help her quicker.

It's 3:47 am local.

Do you know where your locomotive is?

My two new BN EMD SD 45s are somewhere in Plainfield IN. Original estimate was delivery yesterday, but with the weather systems it's not surprising they're running late.

I notice that while Indiana has a "Plainfield" we don't have a "Fancyfield". We also have a "Greenfield" but not a "Bluefield". Gotta go to West Virginia for a Bluefield. And we're not going to get into Indiana's dabbling with the KKK and Whitestown...

In other news, I did my stretches for my sciatica already. The ones I lay on the yoga mat for. Still need to go do the nerve flossing and teeter table
Troy just the opposite with me. The 3 different things I ordered last week are out for delivery today. They all came extremely fast.

Good morning gang!

32 degrees with a band of snow in the next hour, then temps near 40 today. Tomorrow temp near 60? Big snow possible by Wednesday, crazy!

SWMBO and I are out shopping today at WallyWorld and the Mt Airy gun shack. Looking for a 9mm that fits her hands better than a Glock 19.

Good Morning All. Foggy again and 48°, at least it's warmer than this time yesterday at 31° or the day before at 19°. Supposed to reach 67° later today. Then it's supposed to get really cold Tuesday night. We'll see how it all plays out.

Average day yesterday, didn't go anywhere except the mailbox and started picking up more tree debris before I have to start mowing every week. Today starts with the dishwasher and laundry; I'll also start stockpiling firewood on the covered porch for next week. Still expecting the ice storm overnight Tuesday. I won't have a lot of time tomorrow due to other plans.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued to run a few more trains. No uncoupling yesterday, but most if not all of the freight cars that I ran were inspected and tuned up about 18 months ago. Took another little project off the list. Background: I normally do not glue roofs on so I can access the interiors for adding details, figures or lighting later. This laser-cut wood model of Pizzaland (featured in the opening sequence of The Sopranos TV show), resides near a main line and this frequently happens.

Seems that the vibrations or maybe just lady luck causes this to happen. Easy fix as I just glued a piece of stripwood across the underside to prevent sliding.

But while I had it off the layout, I added figures. There is already one inside who can't be seen until I add lighting, but I needed some for the front porch.

Seen here with the roof off.

While I didn't add the lighting yet, I added four figures.

This now brings more life to this structure. Another minor project off the list...not really a list, but a notebook!

Marlin - Coyotes seem to be leaving my immediate area, or just not vocalizing as much. Part of this is because my neighbor to the south is turning his 100 acres into a "country estate". He has cleared the undergrowth from many acres of woodland, put in two homes and a large garage/shop; and cleared and straightened a creek that runs through the place. All of this has reduced the "prey habitat" of food for the coyotes, such as bobcats, field rats and rabbits. He also doesn't hesitate to bring in large noisy equipment that was used to build two lakes and clear and make roads. Still have the coyotes coming in on the north side to visit the flood control lake across our road though. Maybe they're just in a stealth mode.
Mike - You're right about the Valentine cards ending up in the trash. Happy Birthday to your daughter.
David - OK, glad to read that everything is fine now.
Terry - Yes, technically the gas turbines were first generation motive power for Scaletrains. But look at how long it took them to come out with a four axle GP30 second generation. Still their only four axle power that I know of.
Len - Best wishes on the health issues.
John - I don't know whether you meant cornbread instead of cornmeal, but it's always cornbread on the side when we have Chili.
Patrick - Good move on moving $$$ into the Roth. There's no RMD with them, so you can withdraw or leave it however you want. But getting a refund means that you let the government use your money interest-free all year.

Everyone have a wonderful Saturday.

Good Morning All!
27F @ 75% light white supposedly. 33F later; to be 42F come Thursday.

Dr said Maria has chest congestion ... DUH... anyway, not any of the flu crap. Gave her antibiotics, steroid and vitamin D. She should be better in a day or so.

We usually don't give each other stuff for VD, but since she was feeling so bad:

Flash washed out the roses - they are brilliant red and I didn't have time to brasso the 20mm shell casings. She thought it cute.

Don't know what is in store for the day ... yet.

And, I organized my magazines. Got them right above my desk. I'd prefer to have them in digital form. With my Trains.com membership, that's how I'm getting MRR for now.

Went and hung out at the mall with my special girl. Well, she went for a walk, and came back with a shopping bag full of discount bargains. I did one walking lap, then sat by the fountain and ended up keeping the shopping bag, so she could finish her walk.
