Good evening: Yesterday's Snow is today's memory. Currently 36°, clear and windy. It's also tomorrow's predicted high, meaning it will drop from where it's at. More rain over the weekend, then another round of very cold, next week.
I actually ran trains today, and worked on the creek bank. I haven't touched this since last fall. I also finished the Penn Street Crossing, and the cobblestone street to the back drop... My Atlas MP15 sounded like it was straining with 10 cars and a hack, so I turned on the sound...problem solved.

Have a great Presidents Day Weekend and Valentine's Day.

Good day everyone. A large coffee please, Flo.
Just after 8.00pm last night I started coughing up blood; then later in the night.

At the doctors first thing this morning. Young lady knew my medical history before I entered her surgery. Bless her! Other doctors I have seen I have had to explain what they have already written in front of them. Anyway after a thorough examination she knew 98% what was wrong, and is referring me back to the lung specialist at the hospital.

Must do some laundry this afternoon. I am a little behind with the housework

Friday, so it will be a Prawn Curry.

Back later

28 degrees, another 1.5" of snow, on top of yesterdays, and 1/4" of freezing rain sandwiched in between.

I put the YakTrax on before taking the dog out. They worked great going down hill and back up.

Coyotes were pretty vocal this morning. They must be enjoying the weather also. Nothing like a GP barking back at the coyotes, through the neighborhood, at 5am. It wasn't a quiet peaceful walk.

Temp is supposed to get up to the low 40's this afternoon and stay above freezing tonight.

Good Morning: A Hallmark Day indeed. I recall the stories of long ago about a person called St. Valentine, who sent heart shaped messages to acquaintances from prison.....Well, a quick look at the Liturgical Calendar and today, February 14, honors Cyril (Krill) & Methodius, who were missionaries. Cyril is credited with establishing the Cyrillic Alphabet....Valentine only appears on Hallmark's Calendar. So much for that.

PS: The Love of my Life did appreciate the Godiva Chocolates and the Hallmark Card.

Well howdy there all of you lovebirds, and those looking for love in all the wrong places... ;)

It's Troy again.

Got the missus a card with squirrels on it.

She just got a new laptop for work from the company. Spent two days with IT help because the encrypted thumb drive they sent her had a glitch. Finally got all of the data transferred and set up. then another day trying to get her licensed access to Adobe PDFing stuff working. Final straw was she was supposed to be on camera for a team meeting with a dozen of her management team/coworkers, and her webcam wouldn't work.

She figured it out this morning. There is a mechanical slider to cover the lens of the webcam on the laptop.

I made the run to the grocery this morning, but the only thing foody I purchased was more greek yogurt, and a couple of two liters of Cff-free Diet Pepsi for the wife. No chocolates, she's back on Whole-30. All she got was a card with squirrels.

I also purchased a bag of this:

I filled up the shaker jug of "Ice Melt" purple crystal stuff and tossed the old bag in the trash. The Blue Bag of Softener crystals is back up. We're supposed to get more winter yuck this weekend, so we'll see if I have to break into the blue bag.
As well as more litter for Lord Fuzzbutt's Pooping Palace. I'll spare you a pic of that.

Sciatica update: Still there after a month this go around. Leg isn't in constant pain. But bending/squatting, or raising that leg to add or subtract a shoe is a challenge. Speaking of, I need to hit the teeter table and do the nerve flosses.

Ok, hands up anyone who doesn't agree with this.

Good Morning All. Happy Valentine's Day. Cloudy and 32° here on the estate. Should warm up to 50° later on. Looking at 63° tomorrow. The forecast for next week has deteriorated with an ice storm now predicted for Tuesday and single-digit lows overnight Wednesday. A three day really cold spell for us. Not as bad as the "Deep Freeze" event of 2021.

Yesterday's weekly grocery trek went as planned, no grocery issues. The trip to Sam's Club to the hearing aid person went OK, although I had to wait about 15 minutes since I didn't have an appointment. New specialist to get used to. Got the speakers and earbuds replaced. Slightly bigger earbuds to reduce the frequency of unwanted feedback that I sometimes experienced. Gas about town has risen in price about 15¢/gal, to between $2.79 and $2.84.

Not sure what is planned for today yet. I know that a pot of Chili is on the menu for tonight. Texas Chili, no beans and no Pasta! Just meat, tomatoes and spices. Served with chopped Green Onion and grated Cheddar Cheese.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I once again ran trains. Had some uncoupling issues with a few cars that I took over to the workbench and fixed. These are freight cars that I don't run often, they have been sitting on a storage track for at least two years. Exchanged the red Kadee washers on the trucks of a couple of Blue Box cars for gray ones to lower the coupler height just a little. It didn't used to matter, but I now have some undulations in the plywood layout base from the rain after after the tornado that took off the roof. I'm thinking of ways to correct the worst spots without a complete rebuild of those two sections. It actually looks a bit prototypical to watch a train fall and rise along the track.
Meanwhile, I rescued the camera and downloaded the pictures of the completed P2K 4427 covered hopper kit.

SFWillie - Do you know if Scaletrains has plans to produce any 1st generation switchers or engines?
I do not know. They haven't gotten into 1st generation stuff very much. I get their newsletter weekly and that's the only way I have of knowing what they're getting ready to produce. They don't leak advance plans; they don't announce until all of their tooling is ready. Then they take pre-orders. The ones that I pre-ordered are scheduled to be ready in September. The nice thing about their business model is that you don't pay until the models are in their warehouse in Tennessee. Downside is that if you don't pre-order, there is very little warehouse stock left over.
David - Hope that you get your condition under control very soon.

Y'all have a fabulous Friday.

Good morning all!

Currently 12F, but feels like -5F. Looks like a little snow is headed our way tonight into tomorrow.

As for Valentines day, I did my part. I got a card and some candy for the wife. My daughter got a card from us and an animated Peanuts (snoopy) plush toy. They both seemed thrilled, and I'm off the hook till next year.

Tonight is my daughters first school dance. A big milestone. Several of the girls will all meet here at our house for a pre-party. I was volunteered to drop them off and pick-up and take them home. Wife and I will get Mexican takeout while they are at the dance.

Other than some light laundry which the last load is drying, not much else going on.

Have a safe Valentines day everyone, and don't forget your special other!
