Good Morning All. Foggy again and 48°, at least it's warmer than this time yesterday at 31° or the day before at 19°. Supposed to reach 67° later today. Then it's supposed to get really cold Tuesday night. We'll see how it all plays out.
Average day yesterday, didn't go anywhere except the mailbox and started picking up more tree debris before I have to start mowing every week. Today starts with the dishwasher and laundry; I'll also start stockpiling firewood on the covered porch for next week. Still expecting the ice storm overnight Tuesday. I won't have a lot of time tomorrow due to other plans.
Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued to run a few more trains. No uncoupling yesterday, but most if not all of the freight cars that I ran were inspected and tuned up about 18 months ago. Took another little project off the list. Background: I normally do not glue roofs on so I can access the interiors for adding details, figures or lighting later. This laser-cut wood model of Pizzaland (featured in the opening sequence of The Sopranos TV show), resides near a main line and this frequently happens.
Seems that the vibrations or maybe just lady luck causes this to happen. Easy fix as I just glued a piece of stripwood across the underside to prevent sliding.
But while I had it off the layout, I added figures. There is already one inside who can't be seen until I add lighting, but I needed some for the front porch.
Seen here with the roof off.
While I didn't add the lighting yet, I added four figures.
This now brings more life to this structure. Another minor project off the list...not really a list, but a notebook!
Marlin - Coyotes seem to be leaving my immediate area, or just not vocalizing as much. Part of this is because my neighbor to the south is turning his 100 acres into a "country estate". He has cleared the undergrowth from many acres of woodland, put in two homes and a large garage/shop; and cleared and straightened a creek that runs through the place. All of this has reduced the "prey habitat" of food for the coyotes, such as bobcats, field rats and rabbits. He also doesn't hesitate to bring in large noisy equipment that was used to build two lakes and clear and make roads. Still have the coyotes coming in on the north side to visit the flood control lake across our road though. Maybe they're just in a stealth mode.
Mike - You're right about the Valentine cards ending up in the trash. Happy Birthday to your daughter.
David - OK, glad to read that everything is fine now.
Terry - Yes, technically the gas turbines were first generation motive power for Scaletrains. But look at how long it took them to come out with a four axle GP30 second generation. Still their only four axle power that I know of.
Len - Best wishes on the health issues.
John - I don't know whether you meant cornbread instead of cornmeal, but it's always cornbread on the side when we have Chili.
Patrick - Good move on moving $$$ into the Roth. There's no RMD with them, so you can withdraw or leave it however you want. But getting a refund means that you let the government use your money interest-free all year.
Everyone have a wonderful Saturday.
