You get several years out of them and they’re cheap to replace the battery inside the UPS. I suspect they don’t have the problem that Lithium batteries do when left for long periods at full charge.
John - Thanks for the update on Steve Cropper. Not sure how I missed that news. I followed him back in the Booker T days and onward. While you touched on a few of them, his composer credits are in the 100's. Note that if you ever get to Memphis, the Stax Records tour is awesome. Just be aware that the studio is not in the best part of town.
Well howdy there internet peeps and those with UPSs of either variety.
Went to Penn Station for lunch, then had left overs of my sandwich from the italian place from Friday.
Had a chuckle. I posted that pic of our ceramic Xmas tree, and one of my sisters asked witch of our grandmothers painted it.
Neither, I said. My sweetie did!
Spent the afternoon gluing down foam with the Locktite Project Foam adhesive. Got the upper level about 1/4 done. My goal is to get a continuous run of track and roadbed in place by Jan 1. That's ambitious. Might be after that. We'll see.
In between waiting on the adhesive to dry I worked on reading and editing the book. It goes to the editor in a week. I need to have it tweeked out by then.
Troy, have you noticed many of the Penn Station subs tend to have more oils than other brands? It seems like every one I got from them had grease dripping out of it.

Ah yeah, I had forgotten about that. In reality, lithium doesn't last either as my laptop can attest to, so may as well go with the SLA stuff. Clearer now.
I didn't have a mark on me. I kept them busy trying to hold my arms and legs. They carried me parallel to the floor, even grabbing me where they shouldn't have! They opened one door with my head.
All the way back to Baltimore I tried to convince her. I even tried to get her to feel the lump on my head from the door, but she was done with me. She might have seen me talking to another girl before Adam decided he had lost his mind! That is what I got for wandering around and leaving her in our seats. She said, "nobody could do that to you" I told her you would be surprised what that much manpower can do.
Some beautiful girls are... not the brightest crayons in the box. But I wasn't with her for intelligent conversation.
Lithium batteries don’t do well when left at full charge. The battery chemistry breaks down faster. You hear about battery degradation? Lithium batteries degrade when left at full charge, faster than being left at 2/3 charge.

My wife carefully charges our phones to 75% before bed, saying it helps the batteries last longer. In the morning, she tops off whichever phone we’re using that day to 100%. I’ve never fully understood it, but I’ve never disagreed either. In all the years we’ve worked together, we’ve never had a battery fail. She’s not just a beautiful woman, but a smart one too.
I’ve mastered the mysteries of lead‑acid batteries and am well acquainted with Nickel‑Metal Hydride. But Lithium‑Ion? That’s an enigma wrapped in sorcery, I’m half convinced it runs on spells and moonlight!
That is what I was thinking, and I've never been there either.
Dripping is always a good sign, it took me straight back to Captain Harvey’s cheesesteak subs and fries, by the time I made it home, the brown bags had turned into delicious grease-stained trophies. And naturally, napkins were the real heroes of the story!
I love this time of year, every day from the first Sunday of Advent to the Feast of the Epiphany is a Holy Day, at least to me they are. So, Happy Holydays! (Holidays)
Holiday = Holy Day: The word holiday comes from the Old English haligdæg, meaning “holy day.”
