Good morning, Everyone!

The Baltimore Ravens are set to host the Pittsburgh Steelers today at 1 p.m. at M&T Bank Stadium. It’s been a while since these rivals met in an early game, as their matchups were usually featured in a prime slot. This season is different, with the AFC North leaders holding the weakest record of any division leader in the NFL at 6-6.

Many Baltimore and Pittsburgh fans are feeling down but remember the 9-7 2011 NY Giants. They started by taking down the 10-6 Falcons in the Wild Card round, then upset the powerhouse 15-1 Green Bay Packers in the Divisional round. In the NFC Championship, they battled the 13-3 San Francisco 49ers and pulled off a 20-17 overtime victory.

In the Super Bowl, the underdog 9-7 Giants took on the 13-3 New England Patriots, led by Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. In a thrilling upset, the Giants claimed the Lombardi Trophy with a 21-17 victory!

This is why I love sports, all that matters is how you play today!

Go Ravens!

Enjoy your day Everyone!

Good morning from Wisconsin. We have some overnight snow but definitely not the 3 to 6” the National Weather Services put warnings up about! If we have 1” that’s a lot. The plows came through as normal between 5:15 and 6am and barely put anything on my driveway apron. When the sun comes up I’ll decide but it looks like a wet snow and I may decide to just let the sun and well placed ice melt do its thing today.

The OPS session went great yesterday. 18 of us from all around Wisconsin came together to put the layout to work. For you Facebook users, I posted pictures on my page, WISCONSIN INTERSTATE or Alan put some pictures up on his page BN MARIAS PASS.

Heading to bed I always check my glucose and my monitoring kit that I take everywhere, is missing. It’s in either of the 2 chauffeur’s cars or I left it in the lounge of the OPS session yesterday! I haven’t misplaced that kit in 20 years! Not looking forward to a trek in this snow warning advisory area but I’ll go to whoever finds it! Not sure if this qualifies as a “senior moment”.

Today, depending on where the kit is found is now up in the air. Terry will watch the Packers I maybe traveling! Final weathering check on the Swing Bridge today. Then I’ll finish the weathering on the 2 approach bridges.

Be well

That would be a great job to have. I used to ferry aircraft a short hop of 40 miles or so to the radio shop to have navigation and radio equipment re-certified on occasion for my flight school. It didn't happen very often, but it was free loggable flight time when I got to do it.
Not if you came across the enemy, as you would be flying unarmed.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Don’t let anyone dull your sparkle.

Travel down the A43 road and on the left near Silverstone Racing Circuit there was a small aerodrome.
During WW2 Special Operations aircraft were based there. Special Agents were sent to France etc. from there.
The aircraft used were Westland Lysanders because they did not need a large runway. A field would suffice.

In the Winter of 1944 my mother delivered a new Lysander to the air base.

Well howdy there internet peeps and those with misplaced memories

It's ummm..... oh, yeah! Troy again

Wife is upstairs prepping stuff to make GimBap??? Korean rice and seaweed rolls similar to sushi. She wants to share with her vegetarian sister, so instead of meat, she's got mushrooms and spinach.

Been getting the rail layout templates dialed in on the upper level. The stuff on the bottom of the S (against the walls) are fairly well set. I cut the hole in the backdrop for the tunnel from the yard side (upper part of the S). That's when I realized I should have a foam riser cut across the minor gap the backdrop board created between the two sections. I've got the room for a 2% incline to get up to the half-inch height.

But, I'm out of 1/2 inch risers. And I could use some 2% incline starters. I have one section I want to elevate to make a scenic separation between foreground and background.

Sent the current work in progress book around the alpha readers one last time before it heads to the editor next weekend.

In other news I was rearranging boxes in the utility/furnace room where I keep the 3D printers. I found a glue trap there that I didn't set. We have bi-monthly service from orkin, so I know who placed it. But the tech didn't ask me. It was probably fishing to see what bugs we've got. BUT, the cat can get back there. And often does hunting for bugs. I do not want a cat sticking a paw into the trap. So into the trash it went. I need to give the room another look see just in case there is another one.

Good Sunday morning to all.

38°F outside without any precipitation, only clouds. Not going to see anything today except a cooler afternoon as the front passes.

Operating session went well yesterday except for one minor incident that I thought was going to be a major accident. I was in my access hole on the far corner of the layout standing on a stepladder cleaning an active track and pushed one of my RhB wagens off the track into a five foot nose-dive to the floor below. I was wearing a thick Trachten sweater and the bottom corner caught the coach and off it went.

The impact knocked all four axles from their bogies and broke the coupler arm holder. It was repairable though with a dab of hot glue and I popped in the axles when I found them all. Lights still working, coupler still working, and the car rolls normally.

The part of this I'm thankful for is that the entire train didn't follow the first coach off the rails. In fact, this car rolled right out of the consist and the car behind it stayed on the track, and the coach and locomotive in front of it continued its merry way right on to Litzirüti.

Have a great Sunday folks! Servus!

Good morning all!

Currently 24F with an expected high of 29F. It should be a mostly sunny day but later this afternoon the temps will start to fall into the
single digits for lows tonight into tomorrow morning.

As I wrote in my earlier post, we received maybe an inch of snow last night. I'm glad it wasn't the forecasted amount. It was still enough
that when the plow truck went through it put several inches of slush at the end of the driveway. I ended up just running over the whole
thing.

Wife will continue baking today, and I will be on dish and sampling duty again.

Try for some basement train time tonight, shouldn't be an issue with no games or practices today.

Have a safe day everyone!

Are these wide enough in N scale to do a double track mainline?

I used some I had on hand for my HO scale rise to the mountains but wouldn't be able to do a double track with out another set, they weren't wide enough.

Anyway, good to see you back working on this!

Probably. The risers are 2.5 in wide. I laid out a couple pieces of scrap cuts from a previous layout attempt. Looks like a 1.5 on-center spacing but the tracks are very close to the edge of the riser.

I'm also debating on heading to the big box hardware. a sheet of 1/2 inch 4x8ft sheet of pink foam is about $12. The same as a box of woodland scenics 2ft long 1/2 inch risers (Qty 4). I'd have way more 1/2 inch foam than I need, but it's stackable. The inclines, however, I'll use the WS brand. Why reinvent that wheel?

Good Morning All. Cloudy, foggy and 43°. Dense fog advisory again this morning. Yesterday's fog advisory was extended twice and instead of noon, it lifted around 6:00 pm. Then it returned around 9:00 pm. So the temperature never got above 44° all day. The NWS scores another one. Depending on Mother Nature, it might get into the 50's as forecast, but she does what she wants! I do miss the sun.

Mass this morning, and a family birthday dinner for my granddaughter tonight in Dallas. Her actual birthday isn't really until next Saturday, but I am not invited to the "kiddie" party. I'm not really looking forward to this event because it's at Benihana's. I'll once again have to argue with the host about not removing my shoes, and the seating is not comfortable. But that's where she wants to go; at least the food is always good there. Hoping that there is no fog on the way home tonight. In between the two events, I'll do some laundry, Sunday is bed linen day and the hamper is full of regular clothes as well.

Nothing significant happened out in the train shed yesterday. I did some more painting on some in-process figures and pulled a new Preiser sprue of about 2 dozen unpainted ones out of the stash. Finished the undershelf cleanup that I started a couple of days ago. Vacuumed a large area and then ran trains. I had to re-mount one of the throttle receptacles which had somehow become loose. It's an old-fashioned telephone jack, one of five spaced out for my DC walk-around memory throttle.

Todd - Thanks for the clarification. I know the DOT rules from my time scheduling stuff at work, but I just never heard of it referred to as "34".
Shortwrench - Nice scenes. I am a strong believer in having lots of figures on a layout.
Tom O - Hope that the kit is in the chauffeur's vehicle so you don't have to trek too far. Good luck.
Michael - My cardinal rule for working inside the train shed on the layout, is no long sleeves. Not even when operating it.

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Tom Waits is 76 today. He's not too well known, but has been around since the 60's, generally singing about the downtrodden part of society.

Everybody have a great Sunday.

Troy, if you do get a pet caught in a sticky trap, use silicon spray to get them loose. Yeah, the stuff you spray on cooking pans.
December 7, let us never forget. And may our enemies never forget the penalty for attacking us. God bless and protect those protecting us.

No snow here, but it is a possibility today. 40 right now and cloudy. We still haven't decided what to do for food today.
Merry Christmas to you all.

A while back, I posted about the ceiling tiles over my layout room got water damage, and I thought it was the air conditioner ducting sweating in the summer time and leaking onto my ceiling tiles directly below...Well, yesterday and wife yelled down to me that we have a big problem. I went into the kitchen and she had pulled everything out of the sink doors and she said she was washing something in the sink and her feet got well. The hose to our pull-out nozzle ruptured and the leaked out onto the kitchen floor. She had put down a bunch of towels to soak up the water and I disconnected the water tubing to the pull-out faucet and went to a few stores on Saturday afternoon (maybe 1 hour after she yelled down to me) with hose in hand and a check valve that appears to be the culprit. The faucet is a Grohe and nothing matched, so we will drive into the closest dealer tomorrow and buy/order replacement parts. When we got back home, I checked out the damage...I bottom sub-floor below the sink is all bubbled (probably a Masonite of something), and the kitchen hardwood floors Infront of the sink are buckled for about 6 inches or so. I put an aluminum piece of it with a 10 pound barbell to try to flatted in out. I don't think it is working. To fix it, the cabinet and sink would have to be torn out, and the floor torn out along with the subfloor below that. Just guessing, I think it would be in the thousands of dollars to repair. The damage to the hardwood floor isn't noticeable (unless you feel the floor)...I'm 81 and I can't even begin to repair something like that.

When I first saw the water damage on my trainroom ceiling I saw the duct work directly above the damaged tiles, and even asked a heater installer (yeah, our heater went out and that was $6G's to replace. I had looked below the sink to see if it was the problem (which I think it was now); but my wife had some much crap stored in there, I just gave it a quick look and that was the end of that)...The duct in quest is directly below the kitchen sink and vents out onto the floor below the sink). That would also have to be removed to fix the flooring.

The heater going out kind of put a damper on our savings and much as I don't like it, I think we will have to live with for a while...oh; the ceiling tiles in the train room are showing the start of a new water leak and the same place; but that is the least of my worries. This just happened yesterday, and we are still in a little shock over it now...Of course the kitchen sink in shut off for now. There is not visible damage to the kitchen floor...for now
