Good morning all!

Welcome to the weekend!

Like Tom, winter weather advisory is already posted for the area. Ours doesn't begin till 9pm. Guessers say 2-5 inches of snow
late tonight thru tomorrow morning. Currently 29F with a high of 30, so its basically as warm as its going to get.

Wife will start the Christmas cookie baking bonanza today that will continue the next 2 weekends. I will be on call for dish duty.

Not much else going on at the moment.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good Morning All. Foggy and 40°. A dense fog advisory is in effect. Better than a blinding snowstorm...or any snowstorm for that matter. Fog should clear off by noon and it will be a nice day, sunshine, no wind and upper-50's, maybe even hitting 60°. The next ten days forecast looks rather nice, mild days, cool nights, no snow! Highs will range from mid-50's to mid-60's. Haven't put the shorts away yet.

Another dull day yesterday with the usual mundane household tasks. Wife cooked a full turkey dinner with a turkey that we got for free for Christmas last year. Been in the freezer ever since. Her homemade cornbread dressing and whole cranberry sauce is to die for. My part was to move the turkey around, from fridge to counter, into oven etc. I also did all of the dishes and other cleanup. That means that today starts with the dishwasher. I also need to see what treasures have been hiding in the freezer behind that turkey.

No real plans for today besides the dishwasher, lots to do outside after the fog lifts and the dew dries. Nothing pressing, but a lot of choices. I'd fire up the grill tonight except that we have 3 other leftovers in the fridge besides the turkey.

It was a mundane day out in the train shed yesterday as well. I did run trains again, I'll have to hide the throttle if I am going to get any more projects done. I guess that this qualifies as a project; I placed the outhouse shown the other day behind Earl's Oil.

This is actually the third outhouse from that kit, but I can only locate one of the other two! Earl's is a Bar Mills laser cut wood kit.
I did do some more fall cleaning in the layout room, to make it presentable for Santa in a few weeks. The townspeople would never forgive me if he didn't come.

Troy - I agree with your running philosophy.
Todd - "we did 34's" - Not sure that I understand what that means. Is it something to do with driving a truck?
John -
You can cut up some of that old brass rail, paint a rust color and use for scrap loads.
That's what I'll do with some of it. I recently assembled an old Athearn Blue Box gondola that I need a load for.
Tom O - The current weather in Austin is certainly better than what you guys in Wisconsin are experiencing.

Everybody have a super Saturday. Stay warm if applicable.

Willie: A '34' is 34 hours of mandatory rest after 70 hours of driving. If you sit and drive straight through, you can not drive over 10 hours a day and that includes a 30 minute rest break sometime in the middle. We would take breaks in that 10 hour period ( Fuel, Food, P ) so it would inch to 11 hours. Maria and I switched at 0300 as she is a late body, ima early body. Switchover usually was about an hour - Fuel, Food and P involved with that too; most of the time even a shower.

Some folks have to learn the hard way!
Amen!

Adam once started a fight with security at a Scorpions concert at the Capital Center. I’d never seen so many yellow shirts in my life! I hadn’t had my 🫏 kicked like that since before I was in elementary school. They threw us face first out the door where the trucks drive in. I knew it was a no-win situation, but I couldn't stand by and let them beat on him without trying.

That, my friend, was a hard lesson learned!

When I got up from the pavement, I spotted a Prince George's County officer sitting in his car. I told him I had a ticket, but he just said, "Keep moving or you’re going to be locked up." The concert sounded pretty good from the parking lot.

To make matters worse, the girl I was with didn’t believe me and accused me of leaving with another girl! How she didn't see what was happening was beyond me!

Good morning to you all. Slept in til 9 this morning, felt pretty good. We will be putting up our tree next week after we get home. Our g'nieces have already said they will do them for us. That will include pizza at Uncle Kevin's expense, but definitely will be worth it. Gonna relax this week, looking out at the lake there are folks out there fishing, supposed to hit 50 here today and sunny. Yall take care.

Good morning 9:55am, cloudy/overcast and 42F. I think it rained off and in during the late evening and over night. It wasn’t hard but I was hearing it on the roof I think. (Hard rain you can definitely tell ).

We’re all going to be suffering from jet lag. I popped a melatonin when I went to bed around 11:30pm. I woke up for the old pee runs a few times but it was 9am when I woke up the last time. We had been up somewhere around 31 or 32 hours for the trip home. I dozed off on the Seattle to SLC segment about 30min and I dozed off last night after supper for a short nap but otherwise had not slept. And going west to east is the harder one to overcome jet lag.

But this morning I don’t feel that bad. Still tired because it’s night time in Japan — 2am.

Not really feeling any sort of get up and go today though there is a lot to do. Today is a church Christmas party and dinner and I put my name on the dessert list so I have to come up with something. I also have some “paperwork” type stuff to catch up with - bills, mail, etc and then work on wiring the co troller for the snow melt and the water loops for the geothermal radiant in the porch room. The tubes are there but since the pex for the porch room was put in later, after the main radiant was done, the manifold for face loops just has pex stubs coming off and through the floor into the basement where that run is. So we have to splice them together and then fasten the pex run to the floor joist that runs to the porch area.

The guy who helps me with this will come over sometime soon to fill the snow melt pex piping and these two porch runs with the water glycol mix and once the wiring is done that will work finally.

My daughter put up a Christmas tree while we were gone. Not a lot of room for a train but I’ll manage. I may have to single track it instead of a double track like I was planning.

I can't say, but the Soviets did receive 155 mm artillery pieces from the United States during World War II via Lend‑Lease.

Not that 3mm would make any difference.
None of the lend lease lists I’ve seen include 155mm though it could have happened. But I doubt they would have passed it onto N Korea.

I’ve also heard this same story with 152mm.

Doesn’t really matter. Not trying to belabor it. It’s a funny story anyway.

Ukraine today has gotten a lot of 155mm from the west as well as older US 105mm. They like the 105mm because it’s lightweight and easy to move and hide.

And today NK is supplying 152mm artillery and ammunition to Russia.
