Have a great day!;)

Good morning all!

Happy Friday!

Currently its clear and 58F. High temps today will be around 83F. Pretty typical for this time of year. weather should be good for the first home football game tonight. I see it will get warm and muggy starting Sunday thru next week.

Usual household duties around the house this morning.

Not much else going on at the moment.

Have a safe day everyone!

Good Morning All. Clear and 73°. The cooler night that the NWS predicted actually happened, but it still reached 100° yesterday! I guess that it is better than the 105°+ days that we've been having! Triple digits for the entire 10-day forecast. Rain??? Maybe in October.

The weekly grocery trek went OK yesterday. Grocery prices have fallen slightly but gas prices around town have gone up. Seems that $3.79/gal is the going price all over Denton. Went out to eat at our favorite Italian place in Sanger last night. Interesting that we sat next to a table of 14 folks, all of whom looked to be older than us! They all ordered from the kiddie menu except one couple who shared a medium pizza. Then another much younger couple sitting on the other side of us got up to leave and came over and introduced themselves. They had overheard us talking about where we were planning to eat when we get to Gulf Shores AL on our vacation later this year. Seems that they own a second home there and gave us several recommendations on places to eat that we did not know about.
I'll take care of some more firewood cutting and stacking while it's still cool this morning; otherwise nothing else planned.

RANT: The forum was particularly unstable again yesterday, at least for me. A look at the "Members Online" has shown very little activity for the last 2-3 weeks, an indication that participation is down. I know that we are losing members; several have indicated so. This crap has been going on since at least April. Seems to right itself for a few days and then lapse back into the "error" mode. I sincerely hope that it gets fixed very soon, as this is the only social media that I use. I have felt frustrated enough on several days to just think about throwing in the towel, but haven't yet because I still think that it is the best model railroading forum online. There is a core group here that is continuing to plod on; it concerns me that new folks are registering but leaving permanently due to the instability. Lots of folks are offering theories regarding the source of the issues, but nothing definitive has come from forum management. What do we need to do to resolve the issues???
RANT over.

Not much out in the train shed yesterday. Took the day off from all projects, except to paint the windows that I am going to use in the DPM wall. Ran trains instead. I could certainly have finished the entire layout by now, if I didn't stop and run trains so much! But that's why I built it to begin with.

Mikey -
Willie- After seeing your auto import dealership picture surviving a dust storm, maybe you need to add a car wash next door.
Yes, it does appear so. I did not clean these vehicles in my most recent layout cleaning done in early July, because I was already eyeballing this section for this project. Looks like I may have also overlooked them in the July '24 cleanup. Don't know, don't remember.
Troy - I don't remember if you have posted it before, but have you gotten an MRI yet? My Spinal Stenosis was misdiagnosed as Sciatica for a while before I finally got one which revealed the real source of the problem.
Justin - Happy belated anniversary.

Danny Seraphine, founder/drummer for Chicago from 1967 until 1990 is 78 today.

Everyone have a fabulous Friday. Late post this morning because the forum wasn't behaving.

Not yet. Our health insurance requires several other treatments like steroids and muscle relaxers first

we're jumping through the hoops now

Good morning folks, 76 here and beautiful today, only supposed to hit 87 today, hope they are right.
@troyphoto praying for you, the back issues are rough.
Tried to go to one of the thrift stores yesterday, it's their 1/2 price weekend, but when I tried to find a parking spot, there was an argument going on in the parking lot. I decided I didn't even want to mess with trying to get past that, so I left. As I was leaving, the police were pulling in. Got some work done on some miniatures, more today after I take the Ladies to an early lunch. Debating on getting a little N scale 2-6-0 with already known problems. Sounds like stuff I can handle and it's cheap but I don't know that I really want to dig into it.

Evening fellers. I hope all is well. Trying to keep my presence here. I know I'm hit or miss. More like far in between. Started the new job. So far seems ok. Can't say I'm shocked by anything. I'm going through manufacturer training though. That's always a plus. Something I begged for annually that never got answered. Technology is advancing too much in my field not to offer said training. Other good news. The misses and I celebrated 15 years together recently. Another milestone for us and hopefully we can get many more. That's all I have for now. I'll stop by again when I remember to do so. Hope everyone has a good night.

Good afternoon gang!

I made it down the basement! Now that the monthly bills are paid it's time to chase the shop vac around and round up the dust bunnies. (rabbit rabbit?) It seems the dogs and Lord Desmond fo Obla dee Obla da (aka the cat) all their upstair shedding collects at the top of the basement steps then travels like little tumbleweeds down the basement steps. In all fairness the vacuum has not been used in a month sick I took ill so it is well overdue.

Willie: I concur with your rant completely. Who would want to take a ride on a slowly sinking ship? This thing needs to get pumped out and patched !

Troy: My lower back issues that seemed like sciatica were helped immensely by a 21 day steroid regimen. they also gave me muscle relaxers which just make me dopey, so I threw them out. Tylenol and steroids , breakfast of champions.

Time for the vacuum, BBL

Troy, IIRC it took a few days (maybe 3 or 4) before I started feeling a lessening of pain. By the time the cellulitis exploded in my leg the pain was almost gone. Its now been a month since then and my back is fine, even after sleeping in a hospital bed for 2 weeks!

T
crap! I thought acetaminophen was an Nsaid and off limits while on Prednisone

I would have taken it last night and gotten some sleep if I had known
Troy, I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV or otherwise, but I have had flareups with back and leg pain for a few years. The last go around, after my original spine MD tried me with that 7, 6, 5 prednisone regimen, which did nothing, I went to another specialist who referred me to a pain management MD. He said he could try a shot, but that can raise blood sugar. He recommended I try physical therapy, which I do periodically, and it helps A LOT! Might ask about that.

Site's still slow for me. I think this is the longest period that it has been like this. When the home screen comes up as the log in screen, I know it'll be very slow. Most times, I just close the browser and come back later. This time, I'm muddling through. 0500 right now, got up at 0430, so have the time while sipping some coffee.
