I used to watch a channel named MHPGardener. He really got into hydroponics and made a fertilizer mix that worked very well for him. I bought some of that stuff, which consisted of masterblend, calcium nitrate and epsom salt. Mix by weight and add to water. I make 5 gallons at a time and add it to leaf veggies like lettuce or spinach and they take off.

I added it to my egg plant last year and that just made the leaves really big. I think it delayed the fruits from growing, so this year, I'm adding it to my beets that I just planted. I want the leaves this time as they taste pretty good. I'll also add it to my brussel sprouts.

For all of you chili aficionados, the chili was good. But, I added rotini pasta to it. Trying to make meat dishes stretch right now. With the cost of beef, and a Level 1 recall on some of the Brazilian imported beef just announced, I'm working through what we have in the freezer.

Still a bad sciatica day. Just can't get comfortable. Flat on my back on the floor is the best. But, my arms get tired holding the iPad up high enough to read.

Starting to wonder if I aggravated a disk on top of the piriformis issue.

I'm a combination of busy and working around the slow periods. Currently writing a JMRI decoder file for my sound decoder that I just received. They don't use JMRI, so no config file. Slowly getting better at this, but it is a learning cliff face.

Had some good t-storms roll through earlier so the long class was cancelled at Church, but we had a good regular service. Then our Nephew and his crew came by and we fed them leftovers and had a fun time. Planning a TTrak staging yard right now. The Ladies are planning a semi-spa day tomorrow so I will be doing my own running around.
Temps dropped from upper 90s to mid 70s in 15 minutes. Feels awfully good right now.
You guys have a good evening.

Have a great day! ;)

Good morning all!

A clear 60F morning out there. High is supposed to reach 81. Pretty much the same as yesterday. I see the warmth is going to
return early next week. I'm ready for fall.

Not sure what I will be doing today. Laundry is caught up and the yard isn't quite ready ro mow till Friday. Im sure something
will crop up to occupy my time.

Have a volleyball game tonight that is an away game. Most likly will be a Culvers night for dinner.

Have a safe day everyone!

I t
Trying to remember my position here, but it could be that people are becoming discouraged to the point of no longer trying.
I tried yesterday afternoon 4 times before getting in at 6:18 pm. I tried around 9pm and didn’t try again till 1:30am this morning. Data error both times. I’ve been up 90 minutes so far and just remembered to try again. Here I am. It’s frustrating but I am not giving up.

Are the number of members visiting going down?

Thursday!

i had some coffee, well iam almost done with work for today.
disc golf worlds started yesterday, so i have something to watch :)
i also got my order from scale signs, for my main layout :) the signs look really cool.

i also maybe have some interest started at a national modelrailroad magazine (Loki).
they will discus what i sent them. i wrote a article for my page on how i approach weathering my tracks. i will expand it a little more, and they are maybe interested in publishing it in a upcoming magazine :) this would be awesome.

i also decided to attend a "flee market" in december with my shop, and sell some stuff there.
For this i will also take some of my dioramas with me. but this means, i will have to produce some more bushes and maybe start to produce trees. so i could also sell those there.

iam excited! But i know it will be a lot of work! But ey! its Fun!

Cheers
Marco

Good morning from Wisconsin. 60f degrees going to 80.

The wife is taking both grandkids to the local mall today and the daughter will meet them there. We still have 2 successful malls in Madison. Clothes shopping lunch and than shopping again! I once complained when our 2 kids now 45 and 41 went school clothes shopping with their mom and my mother at maybe 10 and 6 years old. I was shocked by what she spent and voiced my opinion. I got torn into by Terry like never before and the next day by my mother. I have not since ever said a word about what she spends on our kids or grandkids clothes since. I think my backside still has the scars!

I’ll be home alone basically from 10 to probably 4 today and while I have plenty to do at the bench it’s been a hectic past 4 days there. I may veg out and read an online book. Last night along with the daughter I added another layer of storage shelves for the ongoing projects. There were 2 hi-lites yesterday though. Unexpectedly 100 conifer custom trees showed up. The friend is doing 112 maples for the UP Michigan layout and his wife is doing 2 swamps. She watched a video he said Sunday about making conifers from Southern Alberta Rail on YouTube and decided to try it. Sisal rope and twisted wire. They are nice trees that she shaped and they needed coloring. He knew the 2 boys were working Wednesday so brought them over so they could spray them. They will be back ground trees but they are not those bottle brush type we see so often. The second thing was I got a call from a fellow we occasionally see at Ops Sessions. He was at at Ops Session west of Chicago. Asked me if I had any need for Sintra board and told me the sizes and I asked how many $$$. He said the layout owner just wanted it gone. He arrived while we were putting up the shelves.

Enjoy your day

Good Morning All. Clear and 76° this morning. According to the NWS, this is supposed to be the second (of three) day of the under 100° cool down. Except it hit 102° yesterday, thus spoiling that forecast. Not that I expect any degree of accuracy out of those guys. Now, the good news is that due to the longer nights, (evaporative cooling), shorter days, (less solar heating); and the fact that I added 800 gallons, the pool was a more pleasant 88° yesterday evening. Would still like 83° but it is better than the recent 92°. At this rate, I should be able to use it all of the way until October.

Before it warmed up too much yesterday, I did cut up some more branches into this winter's firewood. Laundry and other household chores rounded out the day.
Today is the weekly grocery trek, along with a currently scheduled stop at the Vitamin Shop. Don't know if my wife is going along, or whether she has additional destinations to add.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I continued with my current project of finishing up a relatively blank area south of downtown Ft Wish on the lower level.
This is my starting point.

Obvious starting point could be painting the backdrop or the ground. But not yet until I get in that mood. First I want to create a 2D structure for that spur with the Texas Mexican rail car on it. I am going to use DPM modular walls for it. Tuesday, I trimmed the seven walls and pilasters for the ground floor.

Yesterday I added the upper 2 floors and had to move the spur a bit further away from the backdrop.

I know that it probably should be done now, but I am not going to complete the backdrop installation to the left yet. It's just too hot to set up the equipment outside right now. Won't be a problem to install later. I only started on the structure first to assure that it would fit as planned.
These are the structures that I moved out of the way. All of them will be going back in.

You might notice some of the fallen figures that I have posted about recently.

Todd - Your cellar doesn't seem to be a very friendly space.
Tom O - Interesting about your sleep issues and the possible correlation with the increased Vitamin D dosage. I have always understood it to be the other way around. I have taken 2000 ICU for years along with lots of outdoor sunshine and only have had very rare sleep issues. I take it in the morning though. I read somewhere years ago, that taking it at night sometimes interferes with natural Melatonin production.
Mike - Add to that "What gives people feelings of power?" list; how about waking up in the morning.
Troy - In Texas, the cost of beef is finally coming down. Seems like $5.99/lb is about the norm for ground beef, although buying a whole chuck roast and grinding your own can be done for $3.99/lb. Ground turkey ($4.99) and ground pork ($2.99 are good alternatives for most of my recipes.

I have some further comments regarding the forum issues, but I need to shower and get ready for the grocery trek.
Guitarist Alex Lifeson of Rush is 73 today. Just a youngster in the genre of music that I favor.

Everyone have a great Thursday.
