Good afternoon. It's cloudy and 86.
I may have to replace the battery in my laptop, it was plugged in, I unplugged it and it immediately told me to plug back in because the battery was at less than 5% charge. While it primarily is used while plugged in, it is generally energy efficient, and lasts several hours before needing to be charged. I got this in 2021, and it has maybe 75 charge cycles.

All this talk about servers, data centers, AI/.gov tracking everything in our lives, etc is nothing new. We're all on lists.

About 10 years ago I was called out to a nondescript industrial park in the Hillsboro/Silicon Forest area near the Intel campus. The building owner wanted me to inspect and put together a plan to mitigate rodent and insect entry into their structures or if they had entered to prevent them from not getting past the hallway. I figured out pretty fast that these buildings were (1st generation) data centers. 200-300 thousand sq/ft buildings set up in rows. Driving by it just looked like another industrial park, but for the lack of windows and the huge generators & HVAC systems.

There were 2 people inside. One security and one engineer.....very secure facility. I needed to provide an access code I was sent prior to my preset arrival time before the entrance door (after I finally found it) was unlocked, then I entered another secure area before I was cleared and escorted.

It was sectioned off room after room of servers. Each server room was spotless. No spider webs, clean floors, no dusty corners. They were almost like clean rooms. The last thing they needed was a rodent chewing on a cable. The pest control company that is awarded the national contract for these massive DC's currently being built is going to make bank.

Resistance is futile gentlemen.

I pulled up a health report on the battery, it has 46 charge cycles, and state of health is 100%. Next is to check the charger, and make sure it's doing its thing.

RANT: I had a terrible time with the forum yesterday, and it took 30 minutes this morning to log in. Just giving a "Like" locks up the computer with that damn "database error" message. The forum has become unusable lately. And the bots excuse is getting old. IT AIN'T THE BOTS! Sure they are having some effect, but they're not the cause in my opinion. Who knows how many potential new forum members are being driven away, or how many old members have left. My own patience is running thin as it is now too time consuming to even log on sometimes. Do we need a new server? A server upgrade? or what? Let's get it fixed before I (and others) give it up completely.
END OF RANT for now.
The last time Bob posted here, he let us know the bots weren't the primary problem, they were just pushing things over the edge.

Since whatever Bob did a few weeks ago things have been mostly ok. A few times I’ve had to retry a login or something.

But yesterday was a lot harder. I only found one small slot that let me in and post before throwing more errors and basically being unusable. Tried before bed and couldn’t get in

When I tried this morning I had no problem. (It was late morning here and early afternoon for many of you).

Good day all................

I'll have to second santafewillie on his rant. I could not even log off yesterday. Seems a bit better today.

On another note I saw this and found it interesting :

For four days, OpenAI’s test models quietly roamed the open internet, hacking real systems with no human in the loop — turning a lab experiment into the kind of runaway machine many Americans already fear.
  • OpenAI confirms its experimental AI agents escaped a locked test lab and hacked another tech company’s servers in an “unprecedented” cyber incident.
  • The rogue agents ran online for days, launched over ten thousand hacking actions, and used real login credentials to break into multiple services.
  • Experts say the episode crosses key safety “red lines” and shows how profit-driven labs are pushing powerful systems faster than governments can keep up.
  • The incident is fueling left–right anger that unaccountable tech elites and a sluggish federal government are gambling with tools that could one day replace human workers—and maybe human control altogether.
Sounds like something from a Sci-Fi movie but real. This AI crap is really going to cause an issue one day, not because of what AI can do, but because stupid humans let them do something just to see what happens. Hackers will have a field day.

Hoping to get some work done on the layout today. I was tired all day yesterday and must have slept 16 hours off and on. Seems every time I woke up it seemed I was ready for another nap.

Everyone be thankful for the gift of another day.

John

Astros just swept the Rangers for a 2 1/2 game lead in the AL West. The trade I read about this morning, Shudlar to the Dodgers, looks like a 3-peat could very well happen.

The Forum seems to change minute to minute. While I haven't had any difficulty logging in, adding like is at times hit and miss. Takes 15 to 20 seconds to "like" and the next time instantly. Oops error shows up off and on. At this moment working great.

STAY SAFE

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those outside yelling at clouds

It's Troy again.

Still suffering from Sciatic pain. Spent most of the day trying to figure out why I'm not getting relief the last four days. Finally figured out this bout is like the last one. It bothered me both sitting and standing.

Piriformis syndrome, not compressed disks aggravating the nerve.

I basically have the piriformis muscle pissed off at the world, and taking revenge on my sciatic nerve.

I went through some of the online Physical Therapy videos on it, and compiled a list of what helped last time. Unfortunately, it's a long road back. Took about two months to get over it last time.

After getting that figured out, starting my stretches, and taking more Ibuprofen, I managed to sit comfortably at the painting desk. Got some cultists for the toy soldiers started on their painting journey.

After these are done, it's on the the angry undead cows, and honked off statues.

Tried to post last night, but it refused to play nice.
My Missus just got home a few minutes ago and didn't even give me "The Look" so I guess the house looked okay. Church Services were really good today and the weather is cooler today, but not as nice as yesterday's. Progress made on modules with more scheduled for tonight after I pick up some pizzas for us. Might I suggest 25 or 6 to 4 for the guitar.
Later, heading for pizza.
