I watched the national news about the wildfires in and around Spokane, Washington. Thousands of acres burned and over 800 structures destroyed.
I am still in contact with my deceased brother's neighbor living near the airport. I texted him and found out they are safe, but his daughter lost her home in north Spokane.

Enjoying a nice, overcast day today. Temp is down to 28C/82F and 72%. Wouldn't have thought that 82F would be nice, but after last week, this is nice.

Was a good day to move my pond back to the back of the house since the restoration is complete. Moved 10 #30 tiles, a 1 ft cube of rocks that is my bog filter (emptied the water out but still heavy) and 20 gallons of water to the back. Put it all together, got the wiring for the pumps put back on the solar system, and fish moved back in. They were still happy to see me at feeding time, so I must be forgiven.

Jet washed down the drainage system as there are several access holes for inspecting. Looked mostly like soap scum, so I blasted them free and got them moving down the line. A little bit of poop and tp, but they all went down the pipe. Flushed the toilets to really get them moving. I do this twice a year.

Burnt out, back hurting, so am done for the day.

Tomorrow is guessed to be the same for weather, so it'll be time to move the planters back to their original locations and I'll probably change the oil in my car. Was contemplating on having the dealer do it due to the heat, but weather is good now.

good morning everyone.
well after the weekend is before the weekend i guess :)

had a mostly "chill" weekend.
Saturday and sunday spent some time in the trainroom. as you can see in my building thread ;)
On sunday, i had to work a bit in the garden, two hours later i was done with the work and i was happy.
and just a small sunburn haha. Because of the dry land all over switzerland it was forbidden to shoot fireworks on saturday 1. august (our National day) so it was just another normal silent day :) It was great.

Here is another cat picture from last weekend.
wish you all a great start of today!

Cheers
marco

Good morning gang!

Lying and wait for breakfast to be delivered. Supposed to be pancakes and scrambled eggs with bacon. Things are slowly moving along with battling the infection. I hate the swelling is starting to go down a little bit. I’ll see what another day brings.

I'm up. been up since 3am. It's now 7:30

Made it to the grocery for a morning trip, and discovered it hurts to walk. It was all flat and level.

My piriformis is holding my leg hostage, but there's no ransom note, so I'm not sure what do for it.

on the drive back, I spilled my drink in the car. Just flavored water, but still. I need to go get the carpet cleaning machine, and clean Sweetie's seat and the carpet. Fortunately I keep rubber floor mats down all year. That contained most of the spill.

Good Morning All!
50F @ 53% clearer, moon is not completely orange.

We *thought* the smoke we were getting was from the Skillet fire .. nope. Part coming in from Spokane, other from Central Oregon.

The Spokane fires are ( Autumn Lane, Old Trails, Fairview, Market and few smaller unnamed ). Old Trails ( ~3100 acres ) is up 291 toward 5Mile, 15Mile and TumTum, pretty much along the Spo River. The SpoVa is either right on the outskirts of the Old Trails fire or in the boundry. Autumn Lane ( ~2900 acres ) is above where the Little Spokane flows into the Spokane River. Market and Fairview ( ~30 acres/~1000 acres ) is pretty much in the more densely populated area of North East Spokane. Many people evac'd and homes/businesses have been lost. Market and Fairview are marked by 'human cause'. Numbers/sizes are from Yesterday.

Ya, and we get to go to SHMC today as Maria's close friend Sandy is there with lung cancer - case of no hope so she wants to see her. Not looking forward to that and the fires will put a wrench in the works too, I suppose.

I kinda agree that Bots are not the only cause of this sites troubles. Has somebody played with the PHP code? I have been dealing with databases since ~90 and database type of errors are/were my fault with improper access. Consider: each request comes in one at a time is processed and queued by the web server to be sent out. Sure at a ~billion bits per second, stuff happens pretty fast. I use Javascript that is setup to tell me process time, then when the DOM has loaded ( roundtrip ). Most cases the process time is ~40uS with the roundtrip ~5000 times the processing time; gigabit connection. With a page full of images, the processing time goes up a little, roundtrip alot. It is longer if the end user does not have fast Inet. Now days, most are not dial-up, but there still are folks in the dark ages. Web server should have plenty of child processes and *lots* of memory to deal with those outgoing buffers; or there would be 'buffer overrun errors'. If this site has a fiber connection, there probably are concurrent connections of which processing power is again probably not the problem, memory and/or disk access is. A 486DX50 ( remember those? ) can put ~4.5Mb ( T3 connection ) down the line and just be limping along processing wise. Note: both of my servers are DL360 Gen9's, 2.26G dual Xeons ( 16 cores each ), 128Gig of ram, Raid 5 SAS drives. Could put in 3G Xeons, but why? Wish ya good luck with finding/fixing the problems as something needs to happen before many go off to other places.

Well, howdy there internet peeps and those with peepers.

Just to make life even more interesting, I think I'm having a PVD in my right eye.

I had one in the other eye at a train show about three or four years ago.

Appointment is made for an hour from now at the Optometrist. She can diagnose, and see if I need to go to emergency eye care, or just take it easy.

Last one was seeing golden sparkles. This one I'm seeing silver crescents.

More updates as I get the chance.

Good Morning All from a clear North Central Texas with a temperature of 69°. Actually slept with windows open last night, a rarity in August here. Only got to 97° yesterday. Cool weather gives way to out normal triple-digit August weather today. For variety, the NWS has thrown a 20% chance into next Friday's forecast. We'll see how that works out!

Busy household day yesterday after church. Two loads of laundry and about 45 minutes on the mower to kinda even out the front yard growth. Amazing which grass/weeds can grow without watering. Plus the strip around the house that I water to reduce grassfire chances up close. Later it was back to the grill for chicken fajitas with all of the trimmings. No specific plan for today yet.

Out in the train shed yesterday, it was a short time, but productive. But first, a few pictures from Saturday that I couldn't post yesterday.
While working on some wiring under the layout recently, I kept coming to the surface to see this somewhat blank area behind a business alongside the main line in Ft Wish.

Needed to spruce it up a bit, so I added some boxes for starters.

Then a few people and a van.
1785761962344.jpeg

Now a small scene to look at.

Back over on the workbench yesterday, I disassembled a tow truck that I got from Chet. I wanted to add a driver and I also wanted to give it a spray of dull coat.

I had a disfigured figure, one arm missing, in the box and this was an opportunity to use him, as that missing arm wouldn't be noticeable in the cab.

The truck had also suffered some minor damage during its trip from Montana.

It now has a temporary home in Vernon, which may be permanent unless I find a better location. So in two days, I used 4 figures and 2 vehicles from the stash. Progress is one small step at a time...

Michael -
That's not allowed in this house. Nor is Stairway to Heaven.
Are they too long to remember all of the chords in order???;)
Karl - Continued best wishes for a speedy and successful recovery.

And one for Louis's generation, James Hetfield, vocalist/rhythm guitarist for Metallica is 63 today.

Everyone have a great Monday, if that's possible for you non-retired guys.

Good morning folks. A pleasant 71°F at 0900. Dewpoint is a bit high at 67°F, but years ago, that was considered very high. Now 'very high' is closer to 80°F and above. I plan on having the windows remain open until at least Wednesday morning, when the DP enters the mid 70°F.

Nice quiet morning today and nothing planned. I love being retired and the rest of the neighborhood leaves for work Monday through Friday. School starts in about three weeks here, so that will empty the rest of the neighborhood too.

Have a great Monday Monday.

Servus!

Morning all,

Busy day so far, started this 2 hours ago...

Hand doing fine. Still slightly swollen and bruised, but not stopping me from doing what I need to do.

Got an opportunity to see both "the Odyssey" and "Spiderman" over the weekend. Both good movies.

Leaving early today as I have a meeting with the new financial planning guy. Going to move accounts around again.

Karl: Glad you're feeling some better. Hopefully you're out soon!
