My (adult) son wanted to see The Odyssey and the (newly adult) daughter did too so I got 4 tickets this afternoon and we saw the 2:40 matinee. (Being Cinemark Club members and with the whole house building and everything else of the last several years we have a ton of credits to use up).

I thought it was a worthy film. I won't comment on the political side of the casting. There are things I would have cast differently. But I thought the story was pretty well told and interpreted. It's worth seeing if you like mythology and that sort of thing.

What was strange was walking out of the theater with 100F temps and sun. Normally we hit evening shows and it's 10pm or 11pm or midnight when we walk out. We were able to go to the nearby Costco to grab a few things and eat something before they closed (their Saturday close around here seems to now be 7pm).

Good evening, gang!

I see the forum is still having problems. John getting one from five till 8 PM and kept getting that annoying system problem error. Now here 10 minutes at 12 it seems to have rectified itself somewhat. It’s still taking a very long to issue likes. The old girl don’t run like she used to.

I really enjoyed reading about that. It wasn’t so much the movie itself, but the idea of the family going to the movies together; that’s just too cool! Especially on 100 degree day.

Thanks. We do it occasionally. Last night my daughter went with her friends to see the new Spiderman movie. I sent her the ticket (from our accumulated credits) but she went with friends. Sometimes we go as a family. We didn't go much or at all for a few years with the house build so are playing a little catch up. We don't go that often but have seen "Project Hail Mary" and "Exit 8" as a family this year. I think we went and saw an Anime motion picture last year.

Around here, while 100F is hot, it's not that hot due to being pretty dry. You don't want to stand out in it or work out in it but it's not uncomfortable to venture out in it to get to your car, walk from car into theater, or even do light outside activities if you have to.

Good Sunday morning, Coffee Shop! It's 69°F (21°C) and a chance of rain.

Weather is predicted to be a slight chance of thunderstorms. Flowers likely toward daybreak, then a chance of flowers late this afternoon. Highs in the mid 70s. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph. Chance of being insane. 60 percent.

Have a good day! ;)

Good Morning All!
60F @ 37% still smokey from the Skillet fire which is now ~1500ish acres. Looking at the map where the fire is, Wolf Prairie is close to it and is a BNSF crew change location. BNSF runs to Rock Creek from there then the Flathead Tunnel. Pretty remote area so getting crews there might be a pain - either BNSF or Fire crews. Water for choppers is a good jaunt. Heck, went to the dump bout 1500 yesterday and could barely see the mountains across the valley ( South ) it was so smokey.

Watch out: The new Firefox resets *everything* and doesn't care what you have setup for what you want to see in the browser. Did not reset login's and such so that is a good thing. But boy, FF screen was filled with a ton of crap. Got DuckDuckGo then realized Firefox reset everything. Anyway, both are now setup the way I want. Did play with Duck.ai a tad yesterday but had nothing I was ax grinding to checkout.

Yesterday, I decided to do the lower level of the Chick/Goat house 1st as I had not used the airless for awhile and didn't want to be up a ladder fuss'n with the sprayer. Got it sealed. ~1500 sq ft of which it took me almost 45 minutes to spray. Going back in today for the top coat. Maria is smiling...

On the way to the dump I yelled 'COW!' at a woman riding a bicycle. She yelled something back, then flipped me off. Then she hit a cow. I tried.

LOUIS, i’ve been better with the folks here are really doing their best to manage the situation. Heavy IV antibiotics seem to be starting to turn the tide.
I’m sure I’ll be out of here in a couple of days.
I'm glad to hear that! Thank you, for the update.

I have a little bit of experience with health problems 😯 As long as things are goig in the right direction, I'm happy.

I'm alive.
Had a toy soldier game scheduled this morning, but the opponent cancelled again. Seems the water in his bathroom was coming out of the roof, through the ceiling and down the wall.

I asked if he was trying to imitate GenCon. While he found the gamers getting showers funny, he wasn't going to be able to game today.

Good morning. It's raining and 76.
Looks like the forum users are behaving better than the forum itself. I've been trying since 4:00 AM to get in, and this is the first time it's worked. The upgrade Bob was talking about may need to happen sooner than planned.

Good morning. Been trying to get in since 6:40am, it’s 8:36 now!

Weather! It’s 68f degrees now with winds in the teens. 80 later but the air quality is deteriorating. AQI is 74 now with local media weather report this morning saying over 100 around noon and 150 tomorrow, it’s not Canadian or Minnesota wild fire smoke but Oregon smoke caught up in the jet stream

I think people who speak about movies, especially a fictional representation of a fictional story who don’t see the movie have no reason to comment. Glad you liked the Odyssey Chad.

We have been watching the last few nights the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies including the Avenger ones. We have tickets to the new one Tuesday and Terry hasn’t seen his version of Spider-Man and I couldn’t recall them. So we are watching them in prep to understanding the newest one. They are on the Disney Channel!

Enjoy the day

I suggest Bob add a "Buy me a coffee" button

Since I use Brave Browser and don't see ads, I'd be happy to drop a five in the tip jar every couple of months.

Morning All! I see the Forum is off its meds again! 67 in the Brew City this morning, going to 77 and sunny if the weather guessers are right. A quiet Sunday planned. some work in the basement/workshop, and I think I'll bring O'Niel's Fabrication upstairs and resume work on it now that I've located the parts, tools and materials I'll need. I'm just mulling over whether to put those posts in the Passenger car modeling thread and keep everything under one roof or to start a structure thread. I have some time to think that one over. I still haven't ordered that new kit, but it doesn't start shipping until October, so there's no great rush. The end of August will mark the first full year of being retired. So far so good. Turns out my sense of worth wasn't so tied to my career that I'm driving the wife and others crazy by being underfoot all the time. That and I seem to have a talent for goofing off. 🤷‍♀️ Finally having the time to model how I want when I want has been nice. Enjoy your Sunday!

Good Morning All, from a clear and cooler North Central Texas. It's just 69° out there. As promised, the cool front came through and yesterday's high was just 96°. Same is forecast for today. Back to the normal August forecast tomorrow, hot and dry.

RANT: I had a terrible time with the forum yesterday, and it took 30 minutes this morning to log in. Just giving a "Like" locks up the computer with that damn "database error" message. The forum has become unusable lately. And the bots excuse is getting old. IT AIN'T THE BOTS! Sure they are having some effect, but they're not the cause in my opinion. Who knows how many potential new forum members are being driven away, or how many old members have left. My own patience is running thin as it is now too time consuming to even log on sometimes. Do we need a new server? A server upgrade? or what? Let's get it fixed before I (and others) give it up completely.
END OF RANT for now.

Despite being gone a week, my wife arrived home to the house Friday and had no issues with my upkeep. She even thought that I had run the Shark vacuum, which I hadn't...the app is on her phone and I don't feel like learning how to work it manually. Plus I didn't get the house dirty anyway! Instead of grilling, I made homemade Salmon Patties for supper last night. Mighty tasty.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I finally got the throttle in my hands for a while. I did some scenery work as well, but I'm not going to attempt to post pictures right now.

Karl - WOW! Get well soon.
Tom O -
Back when Terry purchased the property we should have just cleaned it out and used it. The DOT did not have it anywhere in its records.
It's always easier to get forgiveness than to get permission!
Mike - It's really annoying to have to change out the couplers on ScaleTrains cars, as much as they cost to begin with.

Today is another heavy day for musical birthdays. Ted Turner, guitarist for Wishbone Ash is 76. Obscure keyboardist Mark Naftalin of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band (played at Woodstock among others) is 82 today. Non-rocker but notable Kathy Lennon of the Lennon Sisters is 83. The late Garth Hudson of The Band was born on this day in 1937, and drummer Jim Capaldi of the British band Traffic was born in 1944.

Everyone have a great Sunday.

Apparently this didn't post the first time, because this is what I get an hour later.
Oops! We ran into some problems.
The server did not respond in time. Please try again.

Good Sunday morning.

Soggy as all get out this morning. Rained again overnight and dewpoint is 67°F. Temperature is the same. Expecting a high in the low 80s, but they claimed 78°F yesterday and never made it above 71°F. We'll see how it goes.

Too wet to do anything outside so one lucky guitar will get played today. Maybe a couple.

Have a great Sunday wherever you are.

Servus!
