WELP, I'm around and so far behind. Supposed to be partly cloudy and 77f today. We had a 91f day on Saturday which was really nice!
The Spousal Unit returned from her Dayton drum band competition. The G-Son's group came in 21st in the final readout. Too Bad that they were moved up to a higher/more advanced slot at the last minute. They got screwed because they did not have time to practice for the advanced routine!
I told the G-son that he should not feel bad as being #21 in the nation is pretty damn good!

I'm faced with another pet problem. The going on 18 YO has just about reached the point of being immobile in her hind legs. It's been coming on slowly for several months and last night she could not get up from the tile floor. Today I'm going to see about having her put down - I hope to find someone who will come to the house to make it more comfortable to her. I am aware that they make wheels for dogs however she weighs close to 70 lbs and I have to really struggle to get her up and outside.
I will , more than likely, be mostly absent from here for a while.
It's a bad time for everyone when this decision has to be made. Our 2 Italian greyhounds are both buried under a large bush in the back yard at least their still home.
Swal

Nothing getting done today.

Sherrel, You are in our prayers 🙏🙏🙏 Be at peace with it. You have given her 18 good years.

Afternoon folks!

Math....good stuff! As for figuring out the rise and grade % and such I use the new tech....example: I use these 2 tools now on a regular basis. You can get them from Lowes or Home Depot. The laser works good on a camera tripod very well. I have another laser that you can see being used on my JR's UPPR layout build thread in the early stages of my decks build etc. The angle gauge works great too! Not bad for 19 bucks, it was on sale over the Christmas holidays for 14 bucks the laser was like 49 bucks.

I uploaded some more videos as mentioned last Wednesday. Particularily the new to me MTH ES44, After running it I decided I will not buy anymore MTH locomotives as programing on the JMRI will not work as I cannot change the address from 0003 to 2020. I have a friend that has a MTH DCS system and he will re-program the address for me next weekend. In regards to programming I did order a new ESU interface from YankeeDabbler this past weekend to work with all my locomotives that have ESU Loc sound. So that was actually a good price! Anyhow ya'll have a good day!

That wouldn't have deterred them. They would have welcomed it and wanted to talk about Jesus back with you...

The biggest deterrent to them is probably your location.
My location is a deterrent but they came annually until the one day that I started talking Jesus. Since I went to Catholic grade school and high school, I had religion classes every day for 12 years, so I was really able to talk around and above them.
The biggest deterrent to them where I used to live was when I answered the door naked.
They never returned…
That's what I did to the Jehovah's Witnesses, which stopped them. I saw them coming and recognized them from their previous visits.

Having been in their place 35 years ago (in Germany but the way they work is the same everywhere), after a few months no one would have remembered that you answered in the buff. The young men and women who go about knocking on doors don't keep that good of records in most places. And where they go on any given day, and what they do (knock doors, talk on the streets, make visits, etc.) is totally decided by that given pair. It is not organized at a higher level.

See above. That would have been no deterrent. And I am not sure what "talking above them" means, but they've talked to plenty of Catholics before.

Again, having done that same duty a while back, the location is probably the biggest deterrent.

At the level of tracking where they've been and what the results where, they are not that organized over time. The various missionaries get moved in and out every few months so after 4-6 or so months it's a different crew in that area, generally speaking, and its all fair game again.

I am not speaking about the "JW" group, but rather the "Mormon" group. I don't know how the "JW" group organizes their efforts, though in Germany we found them following us and hitting up the same apartment buildings soon after us or trying to anticipate where we were going next based on where we'd been and try and sweep through it before we got there.

I put 90 minutes on the timer and went back to the tree making. We have a few time commitments today and I can lose myself at the bench…

I think this #10 gauge solid wire because it is thicker than the#14 I have that is marked. Either way it is much thicker then the #22 gauge I usually make the armatures out of.

Trying to create 4 features trees among a grove of many.

Dipped the trunks in Elmers Glue-all and above they are drip drying while I twist some branches

Normally I form branches as part of the armature but for the “trembling Aspen” I am trying sepatate 22 gauge wire that I will apply

Not pictured is the poly fiber I will cut and stretch to give the branches some structure. I do have maybe 20 wire armatures formed that ended up looking more like birch trees then the Aspen I am trying for

Good NEWS - Bad NEWS on the homestead front.

Little dog, Charlie, decided he would eat his dinner; it's the first real - except for a few nibbles - meal for him in over a week and "bouncing" up and down the stairs like nothing happened?

Big dog, 17 YO Foxie, struggles to make it up the stairs - last night she could not get into the bed without my help. I can see that the sun is gradually setting for her days as are mine ahead.

Move her bed downstairs and yours too. She won't sleep away from you.

Afternoon All,

Started out with a walk at 67F and currently 80F and humid and supposed to rain tonight. After chores I worked on the trees. I'll get another 25 from the sage brush. Tomorrow, I have a blood draw at the VA (fasting) in the morning and Dad has an appointment for his hearing aids at 1:30 so the day is pretty much shot.

Thank you for the photo likes yesterday.

Willie- That's quite the shack! Nice layout scenes.

Joe- Interesting photo perspective.

Patrick- Are you trying to jinx yourself? Never say the "Q" word about work.

Sherrel- I'm very sorry to hear your news. My thoughts are with you.

rgeiter- That cat is more qualified than some of my past supervisors.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Good afternoon, folks!

I'll be fencing the garden over the next couple of days, after dropping $450 on materials this morning. I need to get that fence up before the wife starts planting. She's gotta special 'display' design in mind, where she can hang flowers all over the fence. It will include an arched gateway for her climbing roses.

I don't expect there will be much rail action in town. It looks like there's lots of work going on down on the tracks. I've seen this big hy-rail heading out, along with a couple of smaller pick-ups carrying crew:

That truck has been heading out, every morning for the past 4 days.

Anyway, I suppose it's time to get on that fence. See yu'all after I'm done.

Have a great day!

I was thinking, now there's an archway. Maybe plant a dozen climbing roses on either side. Could be a tourist attraction.
