The last exercise in frustration was when Fedex "delivered" a package to a random front door, snapped a photo, and called it good. The pic of the "delivered" package on somebody's front porch has nothing in common with my actual front door...View attachment 166828View attachment 166829
We had an iPhone dropped at the wrong address and signed for when we queried ut we new the address owner and advised them, they did not investigate the person impersonating, luckily it was a company phone and they sent out another. The person in question has had questionable honesty for years.

Lets see, what wonderful items have we been blessed with courtesy of fedex???

One of those Miracle Ears,
A Medium sized flat size fridge
Various packages of unknown contents and
Pet food and supplies

Just to name a few. After a couple of months of putting up with this - I sent the manager of the local fedex office, depot, whatever a bill for re distributing to the correct address' all items they left with us. I assumed (reasonably) that they had hired us as a central collection point - he wasn't amused :D

Good morning Everybody!

The Orioles won again! They are now 11-7 and tied with the Yankees for second in the AL east.

I was a diehard baseball / Yankee fan my whole life until a few years ago. My wife and I went to a 12:30pm game at Yankee Stadium. They were hosting Minnesota. It was lightly raining. They announced the game was being delayed. Then said nothing all afternoon and we finally left the stadium at 5pm. The game filially got started at 7:30pm. We had $100.00 seats. I called them and said we wanted a refund because we couldn't wait around 7 1/2 hours for the game to start. They told me because this was the last time Minnestoa was in for the year was the reason for the 7 1/2 hour rain delay. I said that's find just give me my $200.00 back. They said no the game was played we should have stayed. They told me in good faith we will give you we will give you 50% off an upper deck seat. I said no thanks it will be the last game we go to or watch on TV. One of my Yankee friends says we should start watching again. I decided to watch a preseason game 2 years ago and they all took a knee before the game and that did it for me and my friend. Neither one of has watched a game since. Some of my friends tell me they stopped all that stuff now. I said, it's to late for that I don't watch anymore.

Ok, the package was tracked, the RM proof of delivery is a foto of the package and a GPS marker which is linked to the package, so a GPS "foto" is taken at the same time as the postie scans the package to say delivered, that's all RM need, so RM say it's been delivered, that's it.
If someone takes the package out the letter box after it's been delivered, (and I can't prove it either way) it's not RM's responsibility.
I'm going down the delivery office to find out if we had a temp postie, if so he wouldn't know the door code so stuck it in my letterbox, the regular posties if it won't drop into the box open the door and drop it in the hallway.
Hi Smudge

If you haven't already, contact the seller and let them know what has happened, they will have to raise a complaint, if its a retailer you've used before they will probably do this without any problems, and probably refund/replace at no charge.

Contact your local sorting office and explain what has happened, and further call the RM Complaint number. Any photo has to either show the package in your hand/on the property with you in the photo (can be partial) or in left in a secure position, not sticking out of a letter box - posties are trained not to leave anything sticking out of a letterbox.

If it was signed for, then they need to provide proof of the signature, and you can request previous delivery signatures too so you can compare signatures.

The RM where I live are very good, much more reliable and trustworthy than any of the couriers - and faster too!

Well, howdy there internet peeps, and those who rely on the Stork instead of FedEx to deliver babies ;)

It's troy again...

Two sagas mostly complete.

As for the pooping palace for my fuzzy buddy, they gave me three options:
1. Send the base unit in for diagnosis and repair. Cost $180+ship
2. Get a new base unit (as in the lower part with the brain) for $300
Option 1 is 1/3rd the cost of a new, upgraded unit
Option 2 is 1/2+ the cost of a new, upgraded unit.

I asked for a loyal and frustrated customer discount on a new unit. This one is 4 years old, well past warranty, and well used.

Got one of these (same unit, but with the wife, minus the steps. My cat is black, but just as smug when he drops a Level 12 Stinkbomb)

Should be here Monday or Tuesday? I think it's by UPS or FedEx. Both deliver well in our neck of the woods

Saga #2: The Fence
Reminder: We're in a row of Townhouse Condos. Our building has 10 units, and we're in the middle. Each patio area has a privacy fence to either side, and a converted carport serving as a garage behind the patio.

The fence guys finished our patio, and the one next to ours. Have a new fence the length, With a sturdy, reinforced gate.

However, if you recall the earlier patio pics right after the demolition of the old... The neighbor we share the fence with had a brick overlay along her walk between the garages. They placed the brick herringbone pattern on top of the old sidewalk. So, the guys made the top line up. Which leaves a cat-sized gap at the bottom of my gate.

I didn't catch it until they'd packed up and left. And we let our cat onto the patio during the summer. Don't want him escaping through that gap.

I'll be hitting Lowes this morning to get a green-treated fence board. I'll install it across the bottom of that gap. If I'm smart, I'll remove it in the winter, and put it back each spring. That gap will help with opening the fence after a few inches of snow.

The RM where I live are pretty good normally, only had a problem once before when a new guy put the package in the bin, would have been OK if only he had put it there AFTER the bins had been collected, not before.
I'm going down to the RM depot, it could be that he returned it there, and either forgot or didn't have any cards with him to tell me it had been returned to the depot, if they don't have it I'll contact the seller

Late to this party, for sure. Been busy with my "going on 18" Carolina Dog; she is rapidly losing her ability to get up after laying down. It took me several minutes to get her up on all fours from the tile floor in the hallway and kitchen.
The Spousal Unit is in Columbus with the local daughter and G-son for the national drumlines playoff.
I am spending the night downstairs with the dog as she cannot get up the stairs to the bedrooms. I've now been up 24 hours -and surprisingly still mostly wide awake.

I'min full agreement with JAZZ in that anyone should be able to post whatever they wish - and, if someone else doesn't like it - they may scroll past it. No one forces another to read it.
I do not cotton to posts being deleted on an arbitrary basis. If no one responded to An "offending to them" post - then it would die in place. Occasionally, someone will post something political - it's the world we live in today - YMMV!

TomO - Glad to hear that you are feeling better -

I'm all for that. I posted a thread on another train forum. It was a photo of the Oak Point Yard part of my train layout. A RR engineer had replied he worked the yard switcher there while I still worked for the railroad. Someone posted that it was inappropriate for us to be commenting on the time we worked on the railroad together. I replied please don't read my posts anymore. I'll post what I want to. When you see my name just move on to another thread.

Maybe try chicken wire along the bottom. Depending on the sn*w, it should push through, and the cat would have trouble cutting the wire to get out.

I would leave it alone. You know cats can jump, climb ... etc? One of the things around here has to do with fencing. Any animal that gets out of a fenced yard can be complained about. Except: Birds and Cats. A .gov type actually figured something out that made sense.

Good morning from So. Central Wisconsin where I am wearing the mask! and That my friends, sucks. Covid test indicated negative last night and again this morning. But the one on Monday said yes, that’s the Clinic’s Covid test that everyone remembers and counts. Good thing as I just spent the night at the grandkids as their parents are heading to wine country in California. They will be back Monday.

The granddaughter gets picked up by a neighbor who teaches at the same middle school. So the neighbors drive their 2, our g/d and another to school every morning. They are within 2 miles of the school so no buses, Terry will pick them up after. Soccer practice for the grandson tonight and then steaks we were told for dinner tonight.

I need a long nap this morning, strange bed, strange routine didn’t allow for a decent night of sleep.

I will get some train room time today and maybe another trip to the LHS. Looking for some UPS trailers that are supposed to be on sale today.

I seem to have been craving some good milk chocolate the last few days and no having a few M&M’s will not count as good milk chocolate. While I visit the LHS, Terry will drive about a mile away to one of the top chocolatiers in the Madison area. One 1/2 pound milk chocolate bar and 5 pieces of sugarless turtles for me. The bar should last about 6 weeks. I do not want to know what she will buy.

My son was talking with the bank of mom yesterday. His legal issues with the maker of his planes are finally 100% settled with the final delivery 8 months late made a couple weeks ago. Turns out he has a friendly competitor pretty much in the same situation he was in back in October, same manufactures planes not being delivered. He wants to buy the son’s 3 planes from this company leaving the son with one. The son is thinking of doing it. He told Terry, he achieved his dream of owning a charter air company and dealing with scheduling 12 pilots with 4 planes is more of a hassle since Covid.

enjoy the day

Good Morning All. Cloudy,, still windy and 70°. NWS went to the brink on this one, rain tonight and tomorrow has been removed from the forecast, and a 30% chance now around noon. No total given so I don't expect much if any. Temps for the next two days in the mid-70's and then much cooler for a few days. High Sunday with rain still in the forecast is only supposed to be 56°.

We have to deal with the weekly grocery trek today. Target is on the itinerary as is a return to the Vitamin Shop. Wife bought an electrolyte there last week, and when she got home, discovered that it had 25 carbs per dosage. Doesn't fit the Keto diet that she's back on.

Another slow day out in the train shed yesterday. Same stuff, cleaning structures/vehicles and running some trains to break the routine.
I've come to the last few structures in the business district in Vernon.

Chrιstιαη - Colza, we call it Rapeseed, it's processed for it's oil.
David - Loved the viaduct videos.
Joe - Belated Happy Birthday to your wife.

Today is 4/20, so have a happy one if allowed.
Everybody have a great day.

Surprise Surprise Surprise!

Went out to get some fresh air and couldn't get the front door open properly - looked down and low and behold, this is what I saw:

Not the best pictures but looks like our friendly feral has had a baby. And she has just had another right in front of the front door :( Good chance there is one or two more to come as well.
Did she have adoption papers for you to sign.

We have a similar thing here. For some reason delivery companies get our address mixed up with another.
Companies saying an item as being delivered with a photo taken. Plainly not at our house.

Smudge617, is the photograph of your property? Yes or no, either way you can still contact the post office saying item not received and not left in a secure place. Also contact sender with same.

David
I have no idea, it's a foto of a package with my name and address on it, no background, GPS puts it at my address, so......50/50 really

Just remember that you're not the RM customer -- the seller is. So the seller needs to be the one to deal with RM from a "correct" viewpoint. (There may be a good reason to talk to the local RM yourself for practical reasons).

The seller is the one who "contracted" the RM to deliver the package for them and hence this is the seller's problem.

It's like this: seller finds Guido on the corner and asks him to take a package to you and offers him 10 quid to do so. Guido says he tossed the package on a door step and says it was delivered. You never saw it. You, the customer, were not part of this and you have no part in that deal. Now put RM in place of Guido. Same thing.

If you can't come to a good conclusion working with RM, the seller needs to make it good in the end as they took your money and didn't deliver to you what you ordered/bought from them.

He *CAN* Jump

will he? Only if a coyote is chasing him. He's a legit scared of heights.

Doesn't like to be carried. The back of the couch is the tallest he'll jump to. And never in one leap.

As for chicken wire... I've got the HOA for the condos to deal with. I can paint the board to match and probably sail under the radar. I might go with plastic lattice. Was looking at some at Lowes today. But I don't need a 4x8 section. Menards has 2x8 sheets.

I have some scrap pieces from installing some for the clematis to climb. Some brown rattle can will bring it in line with the HOA desires and I probably won't need to do more than hit it with fresh rattle can each spring...

I am pretty sure your board won't stop the cat. Cats are masters of getting through small holes and doing what they want.
