All shipping companies use what we call "last mile delivery". They deliver to your local post office and the mail person brings it to you. It is often the cheaper option.
Is it really cheaper? It sure isn't convenient for me. In my case, Fedex probably gets as close as a mile away and they then turn around and go back 12 miles to town and the Post Office. USPS comes out the next day and leaves me a notification, since the package won't fit in the mailbox and our house is over a mile away and they won't leave it by the side of the road. If I go to the mailbox that day or the next, (sometimes it might be 2-3 days), I then have to drive 12 miles to town and another 12 miles back. A package that Fedex had in my neighborhood on Monday, I might not actually receive until Thursday or Friday. Wednesday if I am lucky! UPS and Amazon both know the way, why not Fedex???

Fence guys are back. the guy in the orange shirt is still the crew lead. And he's doing most of the work.

the other guys have to move at the speed of "Is the boss looking at me?"

By golly you guys are bringing back some memories. All those westerns were must see. That and Sunday morning wrestling on WGN -Chicago.

I have Covid! Yes getting dizzy can be an effect and the doctor decided that was it. Of course a test confirmed it.

Did a bunch of things at the exam that would have made me dizzy without going in dizzy. Thought at first it might be Parkinson’s because my sister has it. But I feel really good right now and wide awake
Get well soon Tom.

Our family battled it a couple months ago!

I think one of my USMC friends had a good take on all pollical type comments. If someone said, my religion is better than your religion. He would say good, I got to go. That's me. If someone said to me I love the Dodgers and hate the Yankees. My reply is good I got to go.

I going to reply to my own thread. Before Andy Kaufman became a big comedy star he hid and jumped in front of Elvis and told him I'm going to be a star someday. Elvis replied "good I got to go" but my Marine Corps friend came up with this appeasement long before Elvis.

In theory it is cheaper. One truck drops off twenty or more packages to a post office. The post office will have a truck on every street to make those final deliveries.

Reality can be another story. I can't tell you how many times I have met another Amazon employee/contractor at an address we each had deliveries to.

I can't speak for FedEx or UPS. My only experience is with my shipping needs.

I can tell you if you make a free account with FedEx, you can leave specific instructions. My experince is they always follow my instructions. Your experince could vary. I live in an urban area; rural deliveries could be different.

Shipping speeds in the northeast corridor are fast. I never pay extra for expedited shipping.

Thanks for the good health wishes.

I am feeling much better and the 2 Covid home tests today indicate negative. But at the Clinic yesterday it definitely was positive.

Fox Entertainment/News got away with this one. As I mentioned early Monday I thought they would settle. But the next lawsuits with all this additional and now public information will be brutal for Fox.

planted carrots yesterday prob too early for here
Daughter called & said I won a contest(dont remeber entering one). 2 night,3 days, all inclusive at Pigeon Lake. Yeah right, thats where she lives. So,guess I am grand kid sitting whilst her & hubby head to Invermere ,BC for wild turkey hunting. 🍗

Drill dude finally put his phone away and is doing quite the job on securing the boards after Orange Shirt and his helper ran the line with one screw in each (the end board and one about the middle were squared up with a level, and screwed top and bottom.)

I love having my Ring Camera. I can keep an eye on them and not have them feel like I'm snooping. When I really am.

Acutally, I just check in about every 10 minutes and make sure they're earning their money from the Condo Association.

Got an email while at work, informing me the Security Barrier I ordered last week would be delivered today, couple of hourd later, had another saying it had been delivered by Royal Mail, and proof of delivery (foto of package), got home, nope no package, check the neighbours, no, nothing, seems to have disappeared, likely stolen, because the Royal Mail has proof of delivery, I can't claim either a replacement or a refund, so now have to order another one, wonderful.

Admittedly it's only about $10, but none the less, I'm highly annoyed at the moment.

Went out to get some fresh air and couldn't get the front door open properly - looked down and low and behold, this is what I saw:

Not the best pictures but looks like our friendly feral has had a baby. And she has just had another right in front of the front door :( Good chance there is one or two more to come as well.

@Smudge617, you have no recourse at all? What about negligence and them leaving your parcel in secure? They (the Royal Mail) must have some form of a duty of care when it comes to property, surely? Secondly, just because they have a picture of the package - that does not mean that it was delivered to the correct address, just that it was delivered to an Address.

I would be spitting fire mate as I am sure you are. Lets hope they treat what i just sent you with a bit more respect.........

We have a similar thing here. For some reason delivery companies get our address mixed up with another.
Companies saying an item as being delivered with a photo taken. Plainly not at our house.

Smudge617, is the photograph of your property? Yes or no, either way you can still contact the post office saying item not received and not left in a secure place. Also contact sender with same.

Evening all,

Downside to repainting the bathroom, it now it has to be deep cleaned...Needed it anyway, but the walls look better. The 80 grit sandpaper lines are gone as are the small depressions and bubbles. Stuff I ran out of time to fix a few years ago. Closet is reloaded, but not everything is back in it. I have some clothes I may need, but don't need in my main closet as does the wife. So we're leaving them in the spare bedroom closet, where in the future the kids, cleaning out the house, will toss them.

Finally have the bad walls in the bathroom off my to do list.

Often, the shipper determines the option. You pay a fixed charge for S&H, and they putz around with the product, sending it the cheapest way, which very often is the slowest way. Some vendors allow you to select your preferred level of shipping, others do not. Anything involving the USPS sucks.

I see a couple of new housecats in your future!
