TERRY - If what you showed is the truth? I would be looking for a Gig like Louis has.
A door "greeter" at WM out here is making twice what you showed!
I had a very direct conversation with the management there yesterday. I pointed out Mickey-D's is hiring people for $4/hr more to start than what I'm making, and they don't have to buy tools. I'm avoiding the knee-jerk reaction of simply saying "screw this", and quitting.

Good morning all. A sunny day. Yippee!
Family visiting today. Methinks they are after Easter Eggs.

A Misty Morning.

The Orioles won their home opener beating the Yankees 8-7!
It was nail bitter. In the top of the ninth Arron Judge walked and stole second! Then advanced to third on a wild pitch,
With two out and the tying run on third Felix Bautista earned a save by getting Anthony Rizzo to fly out.

Good morning. It's cloudy and 71.
It's not all Gloom & Doom at Casita Terry. A couple of weeks ago, I purchased a mouse to replace the one that I've had a long time, and has become tired and glitchy, through Fleabay. The seller shipped via Fedrex, and as expected, they delivered to somebody else. I had to open a :"did not receive" case to get a refund. Initially, Fleabay decided since it had been delivered, I was SOL. I filed an appeal, with a pic of my front door, and the pic Fedrex provided of the random front door where they left my mouse. Since the two locations were obviously not the same, Fleabay decided my item had been stolen after delivery (?), and refunded me. I guess they don't have a category for "driver is an ID10T"...
Of course, now I have to get another mouse, but I think I'll just head over to my local Big Box electronics store after work, and pick one up. There's less chance of it being misdelivered that way. While technically not impossible, I think the chances approach zero.

On the Lamar Jackson saga. I think the Ravens should just let it play out. If Lamar plays for us, great. If he sits out that is ok too. Personally, I prefer the Ravens to get two first round draft picks for Lamar.

I like our backup, Tyler Huntley. If not for the misfortune of having the ball punched out as he reached for the endzone the Ravens would have beaten the Bengals and made the playoffs. Who knows how far they would have gone?

With the salary cap in mind. Spending that much money on one player is not a promising idea. One player can't win the Super Bowl. Just ask Dan Marino.

Sorry Bruette I cannot give a like. We support the Yankees. (Someone has to. :) )

Only kidding. :D

I've had a run of crazy stuff!

A new PCV valve stuck causing my Sonic to smoke and consume oil.
Both headlights on my Equinox burn out at the exact same time.
My nearly new HP wireless keyboard was acting crazy.

My missteps after the problems only made matters worse.

Hopefully, things really do come in threes and things get better from here on out.

Terry: Ya, those knee jerk things can get ya. Trouble or another j.o.b. You have a ton of experience and wisdom; see what Management says come Monday. THEN do the knee jerk stuff - remember to leave things open and don't burn bridges as if they realize that you could be gone things might change as it is easier to keep and employee than go through the process with a new one. What are others making doing the same thing in your current location? Go to a competitor and get the run-down from them and show it to Management. Well, ya probably know all of this so my statements could be moot.

I guess that I have been lucky when I was doing technical stuff. Always had a rock solid job offer from recruitment and they knew I would be gone if that was not honored ( told them that ).

When we started in the trucking industry the $$$ amount from recruitment was always more than Management wanted to pay. Had to hoop jump with that. Basically, unload the truck, load up the car and head for another trucking company. Twice they came out while in process and were amazed that were leaving. Told them the promises from recruitment and that this was not the only game in town. They folded giving us what was offered.

Hope you can do something the same!

Good Luck!

Two words Full Moon, oh and the planets were inline a couple weeks ago.

Well today I will do some more rewiring on my layout. Making it easier to follow what I did in case of problems. I know I am the only one who needs to do it. I am about half done picking up tree turds. Wife is getting weaned of the pain meds she has been on. She is in a lot less pain.
Mike CGW.

Good Morning All. Cloudy and 55°, a lot warmer than it has been at this time of day. Looking forward to 3 or 4 wind-free days with temperatures in the mid-70's. Sunny this afternoon and again Tuesday through Friday.
My wife seems to be doing better. Mild pain first thing in the morning that gradually subsides as the day goes on. She's taking less Ibuprofen each day. The doctor never did call her yesterday and they closed early yesterday before she called them. She was able to go for a short walk down the driveway and out to the main road and back, about 200 yards total with no additional pain.
I spent a lot of the day yesterday on the mower. I mowed the south side and part of the NW corner; as well as the area between the house/pool/train shed. I still have about another 30 minutes worth in the SE corner, the tough area over the septic tank and leach field. Monday I will start over again on the east and northeast sides. Two of the three trees that I thought might have died over the winter started budding out late this week, about 3 weeks later than others of the same species and size, so it looks like just one left to get rid of. I'll give it another week to see. Meanwhile I put a new chain on one chainsaw and sharpened the one on the other. I still do it by hand even though I have a Dremel attachment. I really want to keep the Dremel clean for hobby work and chainsaw blades are really messy.
Garden update is just that everything is doing fine and growing well. Haven't had to water since the rain last Friday, but will have to around Monday or Tuesday.

Even though I had a healthy choice of projects out in the train shed to pick from yesterday, I picked running and switching trains. That led to some repair work. I had to do a truck adjustment on a boxcar that wobbled too much for my liking. I normally leave one truck a bit loose and te other quite tight, just barely able to rotate. this boxcar had both loose. Don't know if it worked loose or I just didn't adjust it right to begin with. I had not noticed it wobbling it before, but it wasn't run a lot. Then I had a stuck coupler on a CF7 engine. It was a Kadee #148 so I can't imagine why it was sticking. I ended up using a small triangular file to remove some material from the plastic coupler box cover which worked. I never use lubricants on couplers for fear of attracting dust that sticks.
Here's a few pictures of an Ethanol unit train as it moves around the layout. Sorry if some are blurred, as it ws moving and I haven't figured out the camera to correct that.

Guy - You just can't get away from those locos with the power poles coming out of the roofs!;)
Sherrel - Arlene, Arlean, Arline, it doesn't matter; they're all pronounced the same. Don't worry, I haven't told her that you have spelled it wrong ever since she met you.
Thanks for the comment on the scenery. My cows are in a pasture, not a feedlot! I'll post a picture of my packing plant some day.
Mike - Get well soon.
Tom - Hmmmh! Car readers! Thanks for putting that idea in my head. That would make a fine detail addition to my layout.
Todd - I can relate to your adventures around the estate. There's always something to do.
Louis - Arlene thinks the Cowboys made a great move cutting Elliot. He developed an attitude here. Jerry Jones despite all of his faults, does not tolerate "attitude". Dez Bryant & Terrell Owens are both good examples of attitude.

Everybody have a great day on this last day of Lent.

Good morning folks who like trains, wonder why $$$ about jobs and do not understand the politicians of the world.

For the 1st time in awhile I may not be purchasing any soda at the grocery store this week. Looks like my inventory will be shrinking as the least price I can find is $5.49 per 6 pack of 16.9oz bottles. My own little protest and boycott commences…

The window guys will be here today. We are the 3rd job on their list today. 4 insulated glass to be installed. They told us yesterday the patio door glass is 6-8 weeks out or this week if they just replace the door and frame.

That‘s it from lovely Wisconsin where today we might hit 60

enjoy the day

Good Morning!

It is such amazing, beautiful weather, that I decided to go for a looong forest walk yesterday, instead of doing reno work.
I love the forest; I love being all alone for awhile. The forest never lies to me, never cheats me, and never scares me.
It does try to kill me every now and again, though. Climbing all those hills and slipping on the ice patches. - I'm not a young man anymore.

I believe I'm going to resume walking the tracks again, when the snow is gone. I didn't do much of that last summer, and my train photo collection took a hit because of it.
It's high on my list of important matters, to photograph that which will become history. My goal is not to be an artist; I only want to record what won't be around forever.
SD40-2w's are a case in point. When I started walking the tracks in 2019, SD40's were what was used as switchers around here. Today, I can't find them anymore.
These are the last two photos of SD40-2w's that I ever took. The photos were taken months apart:

CN 5281_SD40-2W_03-30-2022 (1a).JPG
CN 5305_SD40-2w_08-16-2022 (1).JPG

I've not seen anymore SD-40's come into town. Now, they are using SD70's and SD75I's for switching purposes. Those big engines seem a-bit overkill for this area, even though they seem to be busy.

Sherrel - Wish I had a harem of pretty ladies like yours. You're a lucky man. I notice quite a few are blondes, though. Do you have to explain things over and over and over?

Louis - A string of hard luck there! Sounds like something bigger on the Equinox. Better get that looked at, before it gets outta-hand.

Tom - That ballasting work looks fantastic. Thanks for posting the photos. I'll be doing that one day not to far off; I hope.

Willie - I am truly glad to hear Arlene is not suffering from ailments as serious as what she first thought. Do you consider taking her along when you go for your walks? I believe walking is one of the finest exercise sessions around, especially if it's a proper walk. Every step counts.
PS - This is power-pole city. I believe it's the same power poles following me around as I'm taking photos.

Mike - Glad to hear your flu-bug is flying away, and you are getting well again.

TomO - When I drop a car, it makes me sick to my stomach. I did that to an expensive tanker, and just stared in dumb-founded shock at the pieces laying on the concrete floor. It's a sickening feeling.

Easter is upon us. That means an invasion of grandkids will be forthcoming. I'd better be hiding some chocolate eggs around the yard. The timing has to be perfect, because the Magpie's can find them too.

Gotta make tracks! Have a great day, folks!

Arlene is a smart lady.

I never liked the guy. Too much "me" in him. I will admit he was a productive running back, until recently. From a production standpoint the Cowboys made a good move. You can't waste salary cap on semi-productive players.

The game has changed. In days gone by the running backs were big stars. The feature players on many teams. In today's game the defenders hit so hard that a running back seldom lasts more than a few years. Even though they no longer run 30+ times a game. I miss that part of the game.

People criticize Jerry Jones, but the Cowboys are usually playoff/super bowl contenders. Fans can't ask for more than that. Winning the title is not easy in any sport.

Tom, the best I can find recently is $4.99 for the six pack of bottles. I haven't seen four for $12 or even $13 for weeks,
I won't boycott, I like my soda! When I wake up in the middle of the night thirsty, only a soda will do.

That was what I thought. In all my years I never saw or heard of both headlights going out at the same time. I took it to the dealer to have it checked out. It is under an extended warranty. They found nothing other than two blown bulbs. Because bulbs are not covered, they charged me $502 to diagnose and replace the bulbs.
Once again, I made a bad situation worse.
