Good Morning!
It is such amazing, beautiful weather, that I decided to go for a looong forest walk yesterday, instead of doing reno work.
I love the forest; I love being all alone for awhile. The forest never lies to me, never cheats me, and never scares me.
It does try to kill me every now and again, though. Climbing all those hills and slipping on the ice patches. - I'm not a young man anymore.
I believe I'm going to resume walking the tracks again, when the snow is gone. I didn't do much of that last summer, and my train photo collection took a hit because of it.
It's high on my list of important matters, to photograph that which will become history. My goal is not to be an artist; I only want to record what won't be around forever.
SD40-2w's are a case in point. When I started walking the tracks in 2019, SD40's were what was used as switchers around here. Today, I can't find them anymore.
These are the last two photos of SD40-2w's that I ever took. The photos were taken months apart:
I've not seen anymore SD-40's come into town. Now, they are using SD70's and SD75I's for switching purposes. Those big engines seem a-bit overkill for this area, even though they seem to be busy.
Sherrel - Wish I had a harem of pretty ladies like yours. You're a lucky man. I notice quite a few are blondes, though. Do you have to explain things over and over and over?
Louis - A string of hard luck there! Sounds like something bigger on the Equinox. Better get that looked at, before it gets outta-hand.
Tom - That ballasting work looks fantastic. Thanks for posting the photos. I'll be doing that one day not to far off; I hope.
Willie - I am truly glad to hear Arlene is not suffering from ailments as serious as what she first thought. Do you consider taking her along when you go for your walks? I believe walking is one of the finest exercise sessions around, especially if it's a proper walk. Every step counts.
PS - This is power-pole city. I believe it's the same power poles following me around as I'm taking photos.
Mike - Glad to hear your flu-bug is flying away, and you are getting well again.
TomO - When I drop a car, it makes me sick to my stomach. I did that to an expensive tanker, and just stared in dumb-founded shock at the pieces laying on the concrete floor. It's a sickening feeling.
Easter is upon us. That means an invasion of grandkids will be forthcoming. I'd better be hiding some chocolate eggs around the yard. The timing has to be perfect, because the Magpie's can find them too.
Gotta make tracks! Have a great day, folks!
