Well, time to head off to work again. Boss had a "meeting" yesterday with everyone and announced an increase in my duties......AGAIN! Then he tried to give examples of why my duties needed increased. He said we were failing as a department, and gave two specific examples of "problems" that should not have been. Ya know, it would be great if before someone goes off on a rant, if they had a clue what in the world they were talking about. He said that one problem had taken 8 days to fix and had cost the company money, not made money. When he was done, I asked him how he figured it was 8 days when the problem was reported to us on a Monday and was resolved by Wednesday of the same week, and the company with the problem was in what is considered a remote location, which is why it took even that long. Then I asked how he figured we hadn't made money when, due to my diligence and resorcefulness, I got the job completed for $200 cost (normally it would have cost us $280) and we got a signed by the customer work order agreeing to pay $801.60. I'm pretty sure thats a money maker! Maybe he's using the new math, I don't know. Then, his other example, he said I didn't need to roll a tech to fix, but since I did, we didn't make money. He said it was a Central Office (off premise) problem. I asked him how he figured it was a CO problem when the phones on site rang, they just droppped the call due to a customer supplied and, unbeknownst to us, customer hooked up, faulty answering machine (who uses those for a business any more?). The machine would pick up after one ring, wait a second, then drop the call. It was an on site problem, and a strange one at that, not a CO problem. There was no way we could have guessed that it was a faulty answering machine, but it clearly was NOT a CO problem, thats for sure. It didn't even look like one! Not only that, but again, the customer asked us to come out and signed a work order agreeing to pay $145, our standard 1 hour rate.........how did we not make money again? Our tech was there for 10 minutes, got paid for our 1 hour minimum, $145, and was out the door to his next job. Sounds like we made money to me! Again, maybe it's the new math?

I wish that before people go around shooting their mouth off, that they HAD A CLUE!

Sorry for the rant.......

Oh well, offf to work!

Good Morning--

Got some 40% showers dropping on our heads this morning--after the weatherguessers said we were going to have a sunny day today---our average so far was 1 sunny day---back to rain for a week!

Jim I just hope they vaccinate each other at that rate--:D I also see our fear and paranoia media beagles are at it as well---then we get bounced on for being the ones who panic---just gotta love the sheer irony in that one:rolleyes::rolleyes:

The thing about the HHR is that it does come close to the design of the 1950's "Suburban"(?) We ended up getting that one for the yard sale/antiqueing and it does have quite a bit of SPACE in it:D And the seats are a little easier on the backside!!

BTW--Jim Good luck on that voyage!! Have a good time! Hope you get some good pix--:D:D:D

Gotta do some trainroom cleanup---yeah I know---AGAIN---but it does get kinda messy--what with trestle bits getting lost/elevator conveyor system bits going MIA---and what all else:(;)

Have a good one people!:D:D

Morning All...

Jim...I see a problem here. You are leaving on a tropical cruise and I will be sitting under a storm warning for a front that is expected to drop 14" in the Denver metro area. Which means we will get 16-20" of the white stuff where I live. Ugh!

I hope you have a WONDERFUL time! ;)

Have a great day!
Sandy

Phillip don't you just love the guys who know it all and make all of the stupid decisions that we are not doing our jobs. LOL LOL

Kinda reminds me of the old saying that say bosses are good for two things. Making your life difficult and polishing a chair with their butt.

Terry...I knew that I had heard that song in a movie...I DID see Space Cowboys but don't remember much of it. It was also in Armaggedon (sp) and I didn't see that one.

Was Bruce Willis in Space Cowboys? I remember Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, James Garner and Donald Sutherland. Can't recall Willis :(
D'oh! I meanty Armegadon... I was looking at the Space Cowboys DVD sitting on the coffee table when I typed the above. A mind is a terrible thing...

My Boss keeps telling me To P wash that Patio.............I'm still here;):p well I should get it done:rolleyes: Bye bye:)

Larry, what was up with the first post? It looks like the coffee finally kicked in on the second though. lol

I had much the same problem the past two nights, Larry. So don't feel alone. My back is really being a problem lately. About 3-4 hours sleep at a time. I did sleep for 14 hours straight last week after I took one of my pain pills, which I don't like to do. I don't know the common name for the medication, but I know which bottle it is in and try to stay away from them as much as possible. However, that day I was really hurting and decided to swallow one down. I know that in 35-45 minutes after taking them, I'd better be in a comfortable chair, on the couch, or in bed. If not, I'm going to be on the floor.

It sure looks like November outside today. Gray, overcast and gloomy. Forecasting rain this afternoon. Looks like it could open up now.

Angela got home last night around 9:30PM. And guess what.....she made the comment that the house looked good. I knew that.

I got another phone call late last night that a cousin had passed away. He was older than me, 78, I believe. He and my Dad were close. Looks like I may be heading out West for yet another funeral, unless his family brings him back to Indiana to be buried with the rest of the family. Most of my family is buried in Greentown. Ersall worked for the U.S. Department of Interior and was a forest ranger near Big Hole, Wyoming for over 45 years. When he retired, he stayed out there. The last time I saw him was at Dad's funeral and he had just retired. Seems like the only time our family all gets together is at funerals. Kind of depressing.

Karl, my nephew likes much of the same music I do. He's 22 and listens to groups like Uriah Heep, the Beatles, Tom Petty, Rush,...........

Did I read that Jim is going on a trip? Chris, what's the plan? I think 'Bama may have a bye week this weekend, so the cheerleaders may be available for this one. They play LSU on the 7th of November.

I STILL have one engine to apply decals to. Then it's dullcoat time, then weathering then more dullcoat. Dogs ran me ragged yesterday. I took them to the park and let them play. The little Boston Terrier, Hannah, kept the other two busy trying to keep up with her. She's so small and can turn on a dime. Or she would just do a roll running full speed if the other two got too close and they would trip over her. Pretty funny watching them all. Then we stopped by Dairy Queen, I got a coffee milkshake and they got large bowls of ice cream.

Better get busy. I've got things to do.

Later all.

Bob

Bob

bOb, I'm must be careful Around Jim and Rex! They got pressure washing and general yard work just waiting for a sucker like me to do them for next to nothing! If we have a party i must slide into town with out being noticed;) Let me think, about it!...... a party does sound fun though:)

I worked for an OPS manager that after I spent 2 months turning a department around, our DM made a comment about how he'd noticed the improvement in sales. This idiot Ops Manager said that we had implemented HIS ideas, cleaned up teh department and sales took off.

That was a lie. a bold face lie. Every change I had the associates make, I had to argue with him AND the store manager in order to make. I found merchandise in the overheads 5 years old, an long out of the system. I had to re-enter the items an price it. Call GO since it was so old that I couldn't even do that to some items.

I cornered teh DM later and told him the whole story. He laughed and told me he knew it was a lie because neither the store manager or the OPS manager had the brains to figure out the problem and fix it. They had been in their positions for over a year and it took them that long to figure it out? The DM shook my hand, told me nice job and keep up the work, then bought me a coffee. I'd rather have had a raise.

Love the roadkill possum getting painted. We had that happen here with some turtles, except they were alive. After the line painter passed the turtles got up and walked off, leaving several unpainted patches in the highway center line. To this day people claim to have seen the white striped turtles in their yards.

Evening, everyone.

Phillip, I've been through bosses like that. I t all started with the idea you didn't really need to understand the technical side of the business, just know how to manage people. We then ended up with a buch of guys in suspenders with MBA's tha know how to manipulate a spreadsheet but have no idea what the people under them do. That leads to nitwits having meetings telling you what you're doing wrong because they are a manager and they have to do something to justify their phony baloney jobs. I'm just glad I'm retired now.

Sandy, you can always freeze your butt off and go skiing. :) Just think, you have five more months of this to look forward to.

Bob, as long as you have pain, and you have pain pills, use them. It's a lot easier on your body and mind than not getting any sleep because you're in pain. Getting knocked out once in a while is a good thing if you can finally get some sleep. Sorry to hear about yet more deaths in the family. when we get to that "certain age", funerals begin to replace weddings as the place to meet up with the relatives. :(

Chris, have no fear of coming up here for a party. Bring your pressure washer and giant hedge clippers along, just in case...you know..., that you might need them. I told my FBI agent neighbor there might be a shady looking guy with florida plates up here and he might...you know...just as a favor, pressure wash the house and trim back my giant bushes. I told him that, if he doesn't see you in the yard, he should take his MAC 5 and 120 pound attack trained German Shepard over to the house and check things out, since there are some guys from Florida who've been known to get rowdy from time to time. He hates rowdy people...and so does the dog.

Had almost an inch of rain overnight and it was cloudy and gloomy all day. Checked the RV and it was dry as a bone inside so I think I got all the leak points. Thanks for the good wishes on the cruise. I plan to take lots of pictures, especially at the beach in Antigua, where topless sunbathing is the norm. :) The tropics are still nice and quiet. As long as they stay that way, and the pilots stay awake, so we don't end up in Cuba, things should go well....I hope.

Good morning. It's 47 and partly cloudy. The high will be in the mid 70's and there's a small chance of rain.

Today there's nothing on my schedule - yet. Looks like it'll be another slow day. The home health nurse came by yesterday and changed the dressing on my foot. She likes the way it's healing. The old wound on the bottom is almost closed up and the surgical wounds look to be healing well. Back to watching the old movies I guess.
