ya parma is just south of cleveland. Both my parents were buried in January and both times it snowed during the funeral. Not much of a fan of Ohio and it's weather......

I don't like it much when I get wormed, Leaves me with no one to talk to for a while!

Bob I have got a 2007 HHR and the back seats fold down so we should have plenty of storage of your FINDS. This is the first vehicle that I had in years that I can ride in without my back hurting on any kind of even a short haul like to INDY. We drove to to Cookville TN a year ago in June and after 5 hours in the car I got out for gas and no discomfort at all even Glendia said it rode well. I really did enjoy driving my Cadillac's I had in the early 70's and no back problems with them but gas millage was left a lot to be desired. The HHR gets about 33mpg on the highway and 28 in town while the caddy got maybe 16 and 12. Of course back in the day gas was .50 a gallon.

Good Morning

We's be at 9C going to a high of 16C today in the sunshine----there is a mix of sun/cloud in the forecast so we'll see how sunny it stays----

Jim The grand province of Ontario has their health people in the various public health units dropping less important health related issues to make up for the lack of people to man the vac clinics---no panic dragging people out of retirement and all that yet--

Goin' to do some bank stuff today and then some MRR for this afternoon---I've already got 3/4'ers of my HD list done

Have a good one---:D:D

Good morning folks

It was 43 F on the way in this morning. High will be 64 F and mostly sunny.

It has been a rough few days in our homestead. We have four of us down with the latest plague du jour. The only things we know are; it is not the flu and not swine flu. My son is the only one who currently is not down with it. My wife is having the hardest time with it right now. We all basically have some form of a cough with a rundown feeling.

Along with our ills we are dealing with a sick 16 year old cat. She seems to be doing better and is eating well. She does not look like she is putting on weight yet. She is no longer vomiting and her diarrhea seems to have stopped. She is perky and talkative so we are hopeful.

I spent most of the weekend dealing with Cub Scout popcorn sales. We sold at a local shopping center, a local mall, and a grocery store this weekend and did very well. My son also participated in a road clean-up with his Boy Scout Troop. It was a mandatory event if he wants to go camping next month and rifle shooting.

With all the other fun we have been having there has been no time for trains. One can only hope there will be some time soon.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Good Morning....

Brrrr.....29 degrees when I left for work this AM. Snow later on this week.

Jim...If I lived in Denver, I might not love it so much ;) but I live about 20 miles NE of town. As I drive west every morning and watch as the sun rises and turns the snow capped Rockies pink and purple, I thank God that I live here! :D

Karl and Bob, about that mannequin...it was such an oddity that we commented on it being from SF. We even checked to see how or if it was....er...stacked. lol It did need a manziere or a bro.

Chris...I am usually the one with the camera, but I will have someone snap a pic and I will get it posted. Just never thought about it, I guess.

I just discovered this morning on the way to work that a song that I love is by...ugh...Aerosmith! Could hardly believe it!! NOT a huge fan of their 'music'. Found out Billy Joel and Elton John will be here together in concert. When I was younger, I would have done about anything to get to that one. I saw Billy Joel last year and am no longer an EJ fan...so I can save that $500!

Hope everyone has a fab day!

Sandy

Tom...Every year I buy popcorn from the Scouts, but I have not seen them ANYWHERE!! When does the campaign end?

For us it ends Friday. PM or email me and I can give you the codes to order online. You can order online all year long.

It's currently 61 here with lots of rain. I'm just sitting back watching movies today. Already watched 'The Game', 'End of Days', 'Night train to Munich' and 'Dirty Harry'. Just watching a four part series now called 'Faces of Earth'. Meanwhile, the rain continues to fall and the area is under a flash flood watch. I'm not too worried about it up here on my hill top but the two roads out both cross low land areas that are prone to flooding. The lake level is still about 10-12 feet down and the flood gates are open so there's not much danger of the lake front areas getting flooding unless it's by a bunch of ditch water.

The first thought that popped into my head looking at that mannequin was Aerosmiths song "Dude looks like a lady" !!! LOL!!

Karl...this whole Aerosmith thing is weird! I really don't like them...but they do this amazing song... "I don't want to miss a thing".

Sandy

btw...."Dude looks like a lady" FITS!

That song was used in the movie "Space Cowboys". One of the few movies in which Bruce Willis' character died in. "6th Sense" is another one.

Terry...I knew that I had heard that song in a movie...I DID see Space Cowboys but don't remember much of it. It was also in Armaggedon (sp) and I didn't see that one.

Was Bruce Willis in Space Cowboys? I remember Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, James Garner and Donald Sutherland. Can't recall Willis :(

Evening, everyone.

Chris, our lawn does go dormant, usually in about the middle of November. It's still growing like crazy now since we haven't had any cold weather yet. My lawn guy seems like he runs a pretty successful business, He has a a two man crew plus himself. He mows, another guy edges, and the third guy runs the leaf blower. They do good work and he's usually in and out in 20 minutes. Maybe he makes enough money that he spends the winter in Miami or something. :) I spent about five years of my youth in Parma. It doesn't get quite as much snow as areas further east and closer to the lake, but we did get some real dumps occasionally. We had a snow plow - me and my brother, with a snow shovels. Man, I hated that snow, especially one winter when I got frostbite. Usually, just about the time we got the drive done, the city plow would come by and dump half the snow we just shoveled back onto the driveway again.

Ken, having anything in the house that said Auburn in the house would get me in big trouble. As long as Bama wins and Auburn loses, hapiness and peace prevails. If Bama loses, I head for the basement fast.

Jeffrey, staying off your feet and watching movies sounds like a plan to me. I havent seen "Dirty Harry" in years. I never have figured out why it was set in San Francisco, since a cop like him would last about 20 minutes in that city's excuse for a police department.

Bob, just make sure there are vacuum tracks on the carpet and she'll be happy. That's rough when you're not getting decent sleep. I hope you can get something done about it.

Larry, I've heard the HHR is a good vehicle. It just looks so weird...

Barry, I figure we have about a month before the real panic sets in, since everyone with seasonal flu will think they have the deadly swine flu. You can then forget about anything getting done in any health department except jabbing people with needles. I'm going to hide out at Chris's house if they try to draft me. ;)

Tom, I'm sure sorry to hear you still have illness in the family, with a sick cat to worry about on top of it. I hope all the human and feline members of the clan feel better soon.

Sandy, the mountains really are beautiful...when you can see them through the blizzard. Sorry, couldn't resist. I always thought Aerosmith was a collection of drug addicts that made random noises from musical instruments and screamed a lot. You mean the made an actual song?

Finally got up on the RV roof to seal up all the seams, since we had a day with no rain and high was only 68. Boy, those seams were in terrible shape, with the caulking peeling and cracking. I had all the seams recaulked when I bought the motorhome in 2005 and the Alabama sun has not been kind to it. I used Eternabond tape to do the seams and all the roof intrusions. If any of you own RV's and need to re-seal the roof, this stuff is amazing. You just scrape off the loose caulk, clean up the area with mineral spirits, and lay down the tape over the remains of the old caulk. I got the 6" wide variety and it covered the seams nicely. The only hard part is that the bond is activated by pressure so you have to use a roller and really press hard. Once it's down, it's never coming off, and you get a positive seal, not like using caulk and hoping you didn't miss a tiny part that the water will sneak under. I think a tiny piece of this stuff would work great to do things like secure headlight bulbs in those tiny spaces inside a locomotive cab. I'm going to give it a try on my next project. I sure am sore tonight from all that rolling. I'm getting to be a real weakling. :(

Had a few sprinkles today and we should have enough rain tomorrow to test my seal job. We leave Sunday for our Caribbean cruise. We would have to get up at 4:00 am to make it to Atlanta, get parked, and get through security on time. I thought, the heck with that, and found a Marriot that's only a mile from the airport and gives you free parking for your trip if you stay one night. Got a two bedroom suite for $75 and they have free shuttles that run every 15 minutes to the airport. It would cost more than $75 just for a week's parking and I'm getting too old for these O-dark-30 drives. At least we can get a decent night's sleep before fighting the crowds at the airport and then the crowds getting on the cruise ship.

This ship is 110,000 tons and carries 3,100 passengers. It's bigger than any ship we have in the Navy. Having been a sailor most of my adult life, I'm used to sailing the Caribbean in 45 foot sailboats and ducking into ports away from cruise ships. I'm trying to keep an open mind about this but I hate crowds and being part of a mob that decends on little towns all at once. All the merchants know you're from a cruise ship because you have to wear these stupid arm bands, so they really rip you off. I hear the food is good so maybe I'll spend most of my time in the buffet. :D The tropics are still nice and quiet. I hope it stays that way for the next two weeks. This ship was returning from drydock work in Boston on October 19 and ran into rough seas off Long Island. It lost complete power and had to be towed into New York harbor for engine repairs. It also developed a longitudinal crack along the 16th deck, according to the Coast Guard report. The temporary "repair" is to not allow passengers on the 16th deck. The first thing I'm going to do when I get aboard is find out the fastest route to the lifeboats.

Incorrect. The name of the movie was 'Armageddon'. Space Cowboys starred Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones and James Garner and featured the song 'Fly me to the moon'.
