Hi all,

Rex/Jim - looks like your homecoming game had the desired end. I welcome temps like that around here, it means the grass stops growing and more time for train-related stuff!

Corey - nice pix, musta been a mighty fun trip!

Chris - howzat lawn business coming

I spent most of my free time on Saturday taking measurements in the trainroom, then making floor plan diagrams for a local friend who says he knows a way to make my layout a duck-free zone. All along I've been really anxious to redo this layout, now that I have friends to help me the task doesn't seem quite as daunting as before. Can't wait to see what he comes up with!

Have a happy restful Sunday...

Chris - howzat lawn business coming

I got 2 small trees and two 6' tall stumps to remove and all the bushes in front of a house tomarrow and give two quotes and pick up cards and new signage (if ready) tomarrow! the plant/tree job will net me $250 for 5 hours worth of work!!!

Afternoon, everyone.

Chris, your poor wife does have to put with a lot but at at least you're not into big helium baloons and nutty weather theories yet. :) I sure wish you lived closer to me. I have three giant bushes I need ripped out but you would almost need a backhoe to do it. I have not idea what they are - green leaves with white spots - but the dang things never stop growing and pruning them makes it worse, since they grow twice as fast after I prune them.

Ken, Bama did pull off a win but they didn't beat the spread. Only Florida's even worse performance got us to #1 in the AP poll but we're still #2 in the other polls. I was disappointed in our strong start but weak finish, especially against the poor passing game South Carolina put on. We'll have to improve to beat stronger opponents. That will be pretty nice to be able to redo your layout with no duck unders. No matter how careful I am, I always manage to smash into those things.

Kind of quiet here at Flo's today. I see the sheriff in the balloon boy case finally got the picture that the whole thing was a hoax from the beginning. He's apparently not the brightest bulb in the string. At least he's planning to bring conspiracy charges against both parents so now they are looking at a felony and some hard time. He also sounds like the typical abusive husband so I don't know how much freedom to act the wife actually had. I hope the kids get placed somewhere away from the parents so they won't continue to be exploited.

It's sunny but still chilly and windy here. We got to 65 for about two minutes but it's back down to 59 now. We may get some frost tonight, which I hope ends the growing season for the lawn. It should also keep the fire ants underground for a while. Those little buggers hurt when they bite.. Now to figure out how to fix my dead spot in the downton spur and take a few pictures while the rest of the family is at the state fair and I may actually have a few hours to myself.

Good Evening--

Got all kinds of stuff done today--tomorrow I run back up to the university to chase down some people ad pick up some DVD's

Jim That balloon thing was a loonie scheme from the start--he definitely looked spun whenever they interviewed him---

Well, I am going to get some stuff together for another mill and a small machine shop---hopefully I can find all my detail parts for the elevator:rolleyes:

If there's no water pipes around the offending plant, Long Chain+3/4ton truck=No sweat! If there is pipes or the plat is tree tough, Chain saw+Root and stump rotter=No sweat either! Getting rid of plants is way easier than tring to make them grow!

Trains, R/C cars and Trucks, and My collection of Lawn equipment.....I would say that puts me real close to going to the HAPPY FARM!

Hey All....

Hope everyone had a great weekend. I stayed busy all day today and didn't get everything done that I had planned.

We did take my Dad and nephew out to dinner for their bdays. Dad wanted to go to Cracker Barrel. It was good, especially the tea. I usually don't like sweetened tea, but I got half and half today and it was pretty tasty.
Learned my lesson about NOT asking for unsweetened tea in the South. WOWSER! It was like drinking syrup! I guess it's an acquired taste. My sister and dad love it.

Here is a youtube video of the elk rut in Estes this year. It is about 8 mins long, but these animals are magnificent. They come to Estes Park by the thousands each year for the rut. This year I went to Allenspark on the flip side of Estes so I didn't get to see the elk. Some folks get WAY too close to them, and I am surprised that there are not more injuries each year.

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Been having trouble with my internet connection all day today, Par for the course with SuddenLink. One minute it's up, next 10 minutes it's down. Gotta go see the foot doc tomorrow so he can poke and prod at my foot some more.

Used my new heater for the first time this morning. It heated the place up quick. Gotta go out for a foot doctor appointment this afternoon.

It was 38 F this morning on the way to work. The high will be 58 F.

It was a miserable weather weekend. It was raining and cold. My son did not go camping with his Boy Scout Troop because he still has a little bit of a cough from his previous camping trip and we did not need him getting sick again. I have now been feeling a little under the weather the last few days with a slight cough.

Our Cub scouts did very well selling popcorn this past weekend. We are still hoping to reach our goal.

I had to do a hurry up winterizing of the pond last night since we were under a Frost Advisory for this morning. I also had to bring in some of the sensitive plants that spend the winter indoors.

I hope everybody has a good day.

I mentioned Southern Sweet Tea in a previous incarnation of the Coffee Shop after I accidentally forgot to order "unsweetened".
In a 20 ounce tea glass, combine:
19 ounces cane sugar
1 ounce fresh-brewed orange pekoe/pekoe cut black tea

Sweeten to taste.

After that, you shouldn't need a plane to get back to Colorado...

That's the absolute truth!~ Whew!

I don't know where you got your tea but I'll have to avoid that place. Anyplace I get it here it's just like regular iced tea, just without the sugar.

Just got off the line with the cable company. I told them that there's been a recurrent problem out here with the signal going down. The guy on the other end of the line looks at his monitor and sees that I'm on line right at that moment. Well of course I am! If the cable signal was out I wouldn't be able to talk to him. I told him that if he looks at the history of the node for this area he'll see exactly what I'm referring to. Sure enough, he could see there hasn't been any steady activity of more than an hour out here since Saturday night. He's sent a tech out here to look things over. If he gets here before 1 pm OK, if not, I'll be gone to my foot doc appointment and obviously I can't be in two places at once. I wonder how many weeks it'll take to iron the problem out this time.

Hi! I am with Suddenlink. Are you still having internet connection issues? If so, please feel free to contact me at tina-AT-suddenlink-DOT-com.

Thanks!

They seem to have got it fixed for now. This is a recurring problem with some roadside equipment in this area and has been giving me headaches for about five years. Sometimes the 'repair' job holds for a couple of months, sometimes only a matter of a few days.

Got the foot doc visit over with. Today was the day he had scheduled to remove the antiseptic beads. He got better than half of them of them out on the initial pull then the cord broke, so he had to 'go fishing' for the rest of the string. Thank God I couldn't feel him fishing around in there. Just watching it was enough. He did get them all out though. I have to go back on Thursday for a new set of X-rays. Oh joy.
