Good Evening--

We are all sunny and cool right now--15C.:) This after it dribbled and rumbled for the morning/afternoon

I'm in the process of doing up a large feedmill/elevator/coop thing for Eric's layout---this'll sit in the valley that the trestle bridge will cross overhead---I had to make a slight adjustment to the overall height--now it'll be about 22" tall:eek:

Jeff Those things are never fun--:( Take care---

Sandy That is the neat thing about digital photos as well --- the good ones don't get crinkled up as much:):)

Phil Somewhere in my archives I have a pic of a fellow who showed up with a Datsun 280z with a 383 in it---there was in a carcraft mag awhile ago some character redoing a morris minor with a 400:eek:---hey, what can you say. And people thought putting a 390 in a comet was nuts:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Well, I'm going back to my room to do some more building up---CULTR:):)

Hey guys what's up?

Not much going on with me, just sitting here in a Holiday Inn in Duluth. It was raining like crazy when I got here, then there was some hail, but not it's bout 60 and partly sunny, but the temp is dropping quickly, it's supposed to get down to about 46 tonight.

Got a light day tomorrow and then tuesday starts a full day from 8 in the morning till 5, then the train ride till about 9 PM. So I may not get to stop by until late tomorrow night.

Guess I will talk to you guys later...:D

Miramar airshow next weekend, time to gear up. And by gear up, I mean, work a week, 13 on 11 off... I start 5AM tomorrow, and get off 6PM, every day, until Sunday. After Sunday, I get two days off:D

Let's see what goes on at work tomarrow;)

Sure I have, but my feet can only take so much and they aren't the only problem. Diabetes isn't discriminatory. Not only are the bodies glucose levels effected but there's also the immune system, the bones, the muscles, and much more more.
Sorry if you have taken offense. I was referring to the special sandal type things you wear after foot surgery. I am quite familiar with Diabetes as my wife has it. easy up man!

No offense taken. I wear custom molded shoes. Those are like regular shoes but they're made specifically to fit my deformed feet as there's no way I can wear store bought shoes. These cost $350 and up.

Good Soggy Morning--

The current temperature is 16C with 97% humidity. Winds currently are from the SW at 35-45kmh and are supposed to get between 50-80kmh from the SW later this morning---then backing to NW 40-60kmh later tonight. We are getting showers--heavy at times and also those t'underin'boomers today, tonight and tomorrow---:(

Got some stuff to do from the HD list so I better go and do dis---:rolleyes:

Chris Sometimes I wonder about these things---keep wonderin' where the money goes---and we have to be non-poly tickle:eek::rolleyes::rolleyes:

CULTR--

Went to the GTE(great train expo) show at the Indiana State Fair Grounds yesterday. The Central Indiana Division, NMRA built a portable layout for a gentleman who is disabled. Barry was operating the layout when we loaded him up to head home about 4PM. Barry works for Noble Industries in INDY. Noble does little of jobs that are usually very simple but also very repetitive. The kinds of jobs most folks do not like to do. This is the first time I have helped with a the GTE show in several years. The CID gets free space and we usually have on going free clinics all day long or build a layout to be raffled off with the proceeds going to some charity related to model railroading(museums that sort of thing). I did not go Sat. but the guys told me there was a big crowd around while they were laying cork and track. We did have a few stop by yesterday and watch the ballasting being completed. The guys also got some ground foam put down and painting of the blue board. Barry was very happy with the results but I think he would have liked it even if it was on bare plywood.:)

Good morning folks

It was 55 F as I headed off to the rock pile this morning. High today will be 77 F.

We had a rough weekend with the Boy Scout camping. It started Friday at lunchtime when my son was sent home with school because he was not feeling well. He had a slight fever. When he got home he crashed for a couple of hours. When he got up he was feeling much better and his fever was gone so he decided he wanted to go on the trip. We left the church around 6:30 PM and arrived near the campsite at 9:30 PM. The directions we had took us down a dirt road through some fields but we could find the camp. We made a phone call and had a new set of directions. Again they took us to a dirt road through the woods. However, before we left the pavement there was a sign for the camp. We are now driving down a narrow dirt road in the pitch black. I am listening for the Dueling Banjos. We drive for about a mile and half and then the trees start to close in and grass begins to cover the road. We turn around and got to local gas station. I ask for directions but the folks behind the counter don’t know where the camp is or that it exists. We try one more time. This time we push through and after a sharp turn there is the gate for the camp. After another mix up with the campsite location we finally arrive at the correct spot. We are the second ones to arrive. After about 40 minutes the rest trickle in. They begin to set up camp. At that point my son approaches and says he is not feeling well. We take his temperature and it is 102.5. Luckily we had gotten a hotel room since my wife’s asthma prevents her from camping. We go to the hotel.

The next morning his bed clothes are soaked and the fever is gone. He feels great. We decide to head back to camp. He wants to go on the hike of the battlefield and is very active in helping to get ready for the hike. We get to the Visitors Center and they leave for the hike at 12:30 PM. It is supposed to rain but not until 5 PM. By 1 PM it is raining, by 1:30 PM there is a deluge. At 3 PM we get a call from my son that he is feeling terrible and we go and pick him up. Back to the hotel and he crashes for 4 hours. Again at dinner he feels fine but by bedtime the fever is back at 102.5. On Sunday we go back to the camp to pick up his friend who came with us and head home. His first Boy Scout camping trip didn’t turn out as planned. One bright spot is while he was on the hike they needed a compass. He was the only one with a compass.

After we got home his fever came and went. He did not go to school today because the fever was 102.0 this morning. I will be calling the pediatrician to make an appointment today.

No trains but I did see an L&N (not Family Lines) hopper on a siding outside of Gettysburg. It was in amongst a bunch of CSX hoppers at a plant.

Today is my 18th Wedding Anniversary. Tomorrow is my daughter’s birthday.

I hope everybody has a good day.

Mornin' all!

How's it going this morning? Ready to get to work?

Boy, I'll tell ya what.......it got cold around here QUICK! Yesterday was well into the 70's, but a strong cold front swept through the state overnight, and in its wake are cold and wind. Winds will be strong throughout the day today, with expected sustained winds to be 25-35 mph and gusts over 40 miles per hour for most of the day. It was in the mid 50's for the ride into work this morning, and highs will only hit the mid to upper 60’s later. Yup, winters on the way!

Anyways, I had a good weekend, how about you?

I got to see my brother who was passing through town. He's touring with a band and had a show in Indy, so he stopped by. I don't see him much as he lives in Austin, TX. nowadays.

I also had a great evening preaching on Saturday night. It was a tough message for me because it hit WAY too close to home for me. It was titled, "Life At Breakneck Speeds". It was about how we run through life with our hair on fire, and we miss so much. I started out with a video on the big screen (250 inch screen) shot from an in car camera on an F1 race car. The car whips through the city street course, twisting this way and that, darting in and out of traffic. The sound of the engine is screaming through the speakers. A bit over two minutes in, as you're exiting a corner, the car swaps ends and you crash headlong into the concrete barrier. The lights come up, and I begin by saying, "Isn't that your life sometimes? It's mine."

So, what did you do this weekend? Anything interesting?

P.S.- Tom, congrats to you and the wife, HB to your daughter, and I hope your son is better this morning.

Good (chilly...36 degrees) morning to all!

Tom...Happy Anniversary to you and your wife and Happy Birthday to your daughter! I sure hope your son feels better today!

Have a great Monday!

Sandy

Happy Anniversary Tom and wife! Happy Birthday Tom's Daughter!

How's Monday with everyone? Yeah, just another Monday.
You know fellows, I've finally realized why I haven't been getting squat done on my layout scenery; I have been concentrating too much on operations and very little on scenery. My operating pals won't like it, but this is going to change to one Op session per month instead of every week (at least for a few months.). That way I can focus more on industry, towns, countryside, etc., instead of constantly working on track and paperwork. Yes, all is necessary, but I have been missing some of the best parts (IMHO) of model railroading. A plus to this scheme will be getting rid of all the kits stacked everywhere and the incomplete projects already on the layout. Jeez, I don't even remember what kits I have. (Just thinking out loud :o:D. )

For some reason there are clouds out there that ain't suppose to be there. Jim, I thought you promised clear weather:p:D.
:)Have a grand day!:)

Larry, I forgot all about the GTE!!!! We had James Dean Days here this weekend. I could have gone to the GTE on Sunday or even Saturday morning!!!! Missed another one. Which is a reminder(I'll tie a string around my finger) that train shows are now in season.

Great thing that some built a layout for someone less fortunate. I've been a part of two of those projects this year. One more than the other, but the 'warm fuzzy" feeling of helping someone is no less felt.

Jeffrey, I think I may have to go to orthopedic shoes. I'm in flip flops, or bare footed most of the summer. Do they make orthopedic flip flops? I doubt it.

Phillip, Yep, it sure cooled down here, too. Almost gale warnings today, too. The wind be howlin' here. We lost another limb on the old Sycamore tree this AM. I think that the old tree may have to come down. One of its limbs got the porch and just missed one of the boats recently. If I get it cut down, I will have some dimensional lumber cut out of the tree and use it on some projects. It's HUGE and will take some doing to get cut.

Well, time to finish cleaning up the downed limb and the mess that goes with cutting it up.

Bob

Good Blustery wet Evening--

Lotsa rain be fallin', wind be windin' and those t'underin'boomers be flashcrashin'. A classic cliche about dark stormy nights be doin' their thing--:rolleyes:

I've done a coupla HD list things and spent most of this afternoon laying on some self adhesive foil on to styrene sides of a large loader/unloader for an elevator---practically a piece at a time---hopefully get this done so I can get it up on some kind of thread----:):)

Tom Sounds like a couple of our recent road trips! Good thing you found the place:) Hopefully you find out what is up with your son--that does sound a little disconcerting---take care:)

Got some roast in the oven --catch you later!!:D:D

Chris Sometimes I wonder about these things---keep wonderin' where the money goes---and we have to be non-poly tickle:eek::rolleyes::rolleyes:

CULTR--

Man, the stories I could tell ya about my job and the DMSF this Layoff is turning into! But then we would be Poly Ticking........ The Teamsters told me their Lawer's got the county with 4 possible counts of unfair labor law issues:D Ohhhhhhhhhhh Boy, Me thinks I smells a class action in the works:);)

Bob wrote I forgot all about the GTE!!!! The next one is going to be Jan 2nd and 3rd. We usually set our NMRA booth up on the day before the show starts but Tom Fitzsimmons who ramrods the GTE show for us said he is not going to bring anybody out on New Years Day to set up. GTE opens the doors to vendors at 8AM so that will give us plenty of tiem to get set up.

HELLO!!!---is anyone here?:eek::confused:

Good Soggy Morning

The weatherbeguessers have us pegged at 13C and rainy all day---oh, and with the winds like yesterday---but from the north:(

Gonna do a bit of a cleanup/sorting thing in the train room--looking for a pair of blunt nose pliers----maybe if I buy a new set the other one will be found?:rolleyes:

Anyhoooooo-what's going on in your world?:D

Good morning folks

It was 55 F as I rolled out of the driveway this cool morning. High will be 67 F.

We had one heck of a storm last night as I was heading out to pick up my daughter from volleyball practice. It was 5 PM but you would have thought it was 8 PM with how dark it got. We had heavy rain and lot of wind. The windshield wipers could not keep up with the rain and there were leaves and branches blowing everywhere. It made for an interesting trip to the school. 45 minutes later the sun was out and other than the leaves and branches on the ground you would have never known there was a storm.

We took my son to the doctor yesterday. It is not the flu and most likely not strep throat. They think it is viral and it needs to run its course. He had a slight fever this morning and he felt a little queasy. So we are following the doctor’s advice and keeping him home today. The doctor said if he still has a fever tomorrow he needs to come back. He did feel good enough last night to go to his troop meeting but we did leave a half hour early when he started to feel really tired. He is now his patrol’s quartermaster.

No trains last night. Tonight does not look good for modeling. We are taking my daughter out to dinner after volleyball practice.

I hope everybody has a good day.

That's what happens in my little corner of the world...In orcer to find a lost tool, I either buy a replacement, or accuse somebody of taking said tool. It's usually found about 5 minutes after either of those actions occur.
For a bonus, if I buy a replacement, and accuse somebody of taking it, I'll not only find the tool I was looking for, but I'll find another one I forgot I had.
