Time for me to close up shop here and get some sleep whether I want it or not. I tried getting a nap this afternoon but my nerves kept acting up and shooting shocks down my legs. Couldn't sleep not matter how hard I tried. Maybe I'll be able to tonight.

No work on either of the computers today, modern or antique. I did play a short game of Monopoly on the //e just to see if the game still worked. It works. And it's loud! Problem with the //e is the speaker volume can't be turned down. It has two two settings. LOUD and OFF and many programs don't know what OFF is.

See y'all tomorrow.

Good Morning All:

Wow, suddenly it's Wednesday. The last two days have been frustrating, wandering around stores that had nothing in stock, stores that had plenty of useless items in stock, and general running around in circles. Today, I have to retrieve decorations, rake leaves and clean gutters, as the rest of the week is supposed to be a rain - sleet - snow event.

Nothing new to report on the layout.

Have a great day.

Joe

Good morning. It's foggy and 50. Forecast high is 70.
Karl, I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your aunt. Your idea about writing down your uncle's thoughts is a good one. One of my brothers-in-law passed away, and before he did, I took my camcorder and taped a couple hours of him randomly interacting with all of us on his birthday.

Good morning. It's 69° with 96% humidity. The high will be 78°, cloudy and a little rain.

Not so good here. My step mother insisted that I do my laundry today instead of her taking care of it. She knows full well that the steps going up to the laundry room are a problem for me but insisted that I could handle. It's just two steps. How hard could it be? First time up was OK. Had trouble keeping my balance while loading the washer. Coming down I lost my balance and banged my knees on the floor. That's Italian marble and it doesn't give a bit. Second trip up not so good. Got up the steps all right but lost my balance and fell against the wall. That was OK. Got the clothes from the washer to the dryer OK. Closing the dryer was a small problem as the walker kept getting the way of the door. Making my way down those two steps for the second time I lost it. Banged my left knee again and hit my head against one of the dining chairs (wood with casters and arms) then my head tagged the floor. You know, you really do see stars. It took a little while before the room stopped spinning and I could concentrate again. My knees hurt like hell and I have a headache and a half but I'm feeling OK. God, I hate steps!

To every cloud there's a silver lining???!!!!

Well it certainly got my blood sugar level down. Reading tonight was 109, low enough to make me choke down a couple of sandwiches whether I wanted them or not. Otherwise I would in a blood sugar crash before dawn.

I'm feeling much better now. Still have a titanic headache though and a light bruise along the side of my head just above the left temple. Also have a bruise on my left knee. That ones gonna ache for a while. My father and step mother are going to Lake Charles tomorrow so he can keep a doctors appointment. He'll be getting the skin on his back examined to see if there might be a problem there. Looks like there's gonna be a problem with the weather for sure. There's a 50% chance of rain and even more than that tomorrow night. In fact it looks like rain through the weekend with freezing or near-freezing low temps. The highs will be below 50° through the weekend and into the week.

Today I disconnected the green screen monitor from my //e and hooked up a small flat screen TV as a monitor. It makes it much easier to see my Monopoly and Lode Runner games. Speaking of games I have one of the first from Sierra-Online coming. It's called 'Mystery House'. It was one of the earliest hi-res graphics games made to run on the Apple II series computers. Coming in tomorrow is a 'Lobo Drives' 5.25" disk drive.

That's all for today. See y'all tomorrow.

Good morning all, it's now 1:55 Am early Thursday,
Burr is it every cold, 27.4 °F with a Hum-i-dity of 95%, the high for later today is 43 °F and sunny.

Say Flo and Francine keep the HOT Coffee on! Say Bill, maybe you bring your Brew factory over too!!

Stay warm all.

Good morning. It's 59 and blech outside, heading for 74 and more blech. Dense fog and some rain.

Our temp has sat at 68` since yesterday around 1700. Its supposed to go to almost 76` today, with strong storms. They're not expecting any severe, but a strong storm can be bad enough. Its also been sprinkling rain most of the night. The low Thursday night is supposed to be in the mid 60's, then it starts to get colder. While it won't be as fast as elsewhere, with lows only in the 30's and highs in the 50's over the weekend. Monday night, the lows are supposed to be in the low 20's, with a chance of snow flurries again.

We get to avoid the ice that will be hitting from Texas to Ohio. Only the northwest section of the state will get any threat of ice. woohoo!?!

Over here, after two days of unusually warm temps that brought with them thick fog, we're now plunging into a deep freeze. Heading down into 20s today, lower teens tomorrow. Keep that coffee hot!

Some of those meds are effective but nasty. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

Good Morning:

It's quite foggy out there, can barely see across the street. The temp is hanging at 52°, although it is supposed to rise into the 60s before the rain shows up. The local NOAA forecast icons show pretty much rain continuously through next Monday. (subject to change without notice:rolleyes:). All the extreme cold and icy weather everyone else is experiencing seems to be bypassing the local forecast area:rolleyes:. It's like what the Realtor told me 30 years ago....."It NEVER snows at the Shore:rolleyes::rolleyes:". Two days after we moved in there was 18" of "NEVER" on the ground.

Speaking of snow, I decided to check out my snow thrower to make sure it starts. Found out it doesn't. Also found it had two deflated tires. Several hours later, I came to the conclusion that my handy dandy Cr*ftsm*n tire inflator wasn't going to work, so I uncovered my son's air compressor. The nylon tire had separated from the hard plastic rim so I had to figure out a way of getting a seal in order to inflate the tires. Latex caulk to the rescue. Now I have two tires inflated to 30psi, all the excess caulk is cleaned off the work bench and tires, and All I need to do is figure out why the thing won't start. - The gas might be a bit stale, so I put in an additive, the plug is new last spring - it ran then - so at best it needs a cleaning, and I do not believe there is anything seriously wrong with it. Just that its been sitting in the garage, providing housing for deserving spiders.

Today's goal: Finish the Christmas shopping. If there is time left, finish working on the snow thrower.

Have a great day

Joe

I've heard that if the gas is "reformulated" it goes bad after 6 or 9 months or so... Maybe the shortest distance between two points would be to drain out all the gas and then put in fresh?

But... very clever solution to the tire separation issue! I don't think I would have ever thought of that. In fact, I am sure by that point I would have said *expletive* it and just taken it to the repair shop -- and been that much the poorer for it.

Not much going on today. Got a 'Lobo Drives' disk drive coming in today. Also expecting a 10-pack of blank disks, a DVD and two Apple II program disks (Mystery House, Computer diagnostics). Now that I have a color monitor on the //e I may play some Starfleet1 today. Never seen it in color. If the weather doesn't get too bad I may be able to work on Oliver's adventure a bit too.

Hiya gang!

Blech weather here too, 65 , foggy and blech!:( :(

Good news, finally got the title released and redone, now the Ex is no longer on the title. :D Yeah, I know I should have taken care of the before I got remarried, but oh well! Now the bad news, cost me $275.00 to get it done. Yup, Maryland, the free state, where nuthins free!

Joe, I agree with DSD,,, dump that gas out! It was a yearly thing for my FIL with his snow blower. Usually he didn't call til it was snowing, then I would go over with a gallon of fresh gas, drain the tank, remove the carb bowl,(oh lookee, water!), spray everything out with carb cleaner. close it up and refill it, hit the starter and Varoom! ;) FINALLY I convinced him to use Sta-bil in his fuel. Cuts down on phone calls!

Nice catch on the tire though! When you get a chance, check out a product called Slime. Had tires on an old mower that kept going flat. Added slime 7 years ago. Son now has tractor, tires are still holding air!

Now to play trains today!!;)
