Steve, Glad that you and your family have weathered the storm. I have been watching the weather over there and thinking how lucky we have been here in the Finger Lakes so far this year. We may get some snow here tonight along with some strong winds (nothing like you folks have had) so I spent part of the day getting my snow blower to run. Guess its the year old gas in it, but I got it to run finally. Stay safe!

it's calmed down now just pouring rain,, till tommorow and were are in for a second coming of the wild weather..

You don't have to tell me how the weather can get where you are. I lived in Kent for a short time back in the 70's. Sometimes I wondered how they kept everything from washing away in those heavy rains.

Evening All: The weather certainly has been a bear. It's raining here and about 35f. It feels cold and the humidity just eats through you. Mary Ann and I are already to go to bed. I guess Oklahoma is going to get hit again with freezing rain and snow. They are still trying to recover from the last batch.
I figured out a way of making corragated sheet metal. If you take a vist to Elliot's Trackside Diner I posted the technique there. I'll try and refine things including the explination and post it here and in the regular forms. It may take some time so bear with me.
Well I'm going to hit the sack and watch the boob tube for awhile.
Good Night All.

Evening gang,

I know I haven't been here much lately but that's because I've been awfully busy in the trainroom. I had to replace yet another two turnouts that were ruined by a botched ballasting attempt of 7 years ago, I just never realized the extent of the damage until I tried running trains over them (chronic derailments). The layout looks like a construction zone again, but now I believe I'm on the home stretch - I just need to paint the ground-out areas, wipe all the dust off the tracks, and replace/reassemble some of the large structures that I had to remove temporarily - then I'm back to running trains!

Steve and Jos, that's a real shame about those storms ripping thru your corner of the globe. I always associate that type of weather with Florida and the Gulf states, never with Western Europe! Hope you guys will get thru it all OK...

Texas Paul, I guess this icy weather is quite a contrast from the typical heat and drought conditions you normally have. Well at least you have a valid reason to 'work' indoors now...;) Looking forward to seeing the pix of your corrugated metal technique!

Ray and Buffalo-Paul, I'm getting those same winds that you guys have, but without the precip (counting my blessings).

NZ-Ken, I'm sure that gigantic lawn is something you will NOT miss after you move! I've got a big one too and it used to really interfere with my "training" time - until my teenaged son took over the mowing chores!:D

Jeff, I shall look forward to whatever breakfast feast you plan to serve in the morning with your weather report.

Hmmm...haven't seen any of the 'Bama Boys in here recently, where are y'all hiding?

G'night all!

hello everyone, nice day today but getting very windy again. Today i went onto the roof to repair the damage, very good fun i can tell you, i had to put some new tiles on and re cement the ridge tiles that slid down, lucky they stopped in the guttering as next door's glass roofed conservatory is below that. i had to climb up one side and slither down the other side to get em, i made good use of 1" rope for safety.

Hello boy's

Hi ya'll! And a very good morning to you. I don't know where the other Bama boys are. I guess the cold snap has them snuggled in. As far as I know, they are all well. I have been on here kind of hit and miss, but have been working some more on refining the Operations software, building car kits, and trying to figure out which of the 101 projects to start on next. A strange thing about this hobby: When I have a single idea, it somehow develops into an exponential function and I end up with dozens of projects:eek: .

KenL: Glad to see you going at strong. You have such a well planned layout going, I always hate to hear when the RR company has layoffs. I too, have some turnouts that need to be pulled out. These are Atlas #4's that have been moved one time too many and are giving me electrical problems.

Josh: If Jeffery eats that everyday for breakfast, he had better clean out the storage shed, 'cause I am moving in:D . Flo, I'll have a plate just like Jeffrey has in front of him.

Texas Paul: How many days?

Buffalo Paul: The suntan lotion is fine, but I don't think that I would get the shorts and sandals out, brrrrrrrrr!.:D

Steve: I'm like KenL in the surprise at the very high velocity winds over in your part of the world. Good grief!

NZKEN: Glad to hear a positive side from you. Remember that a house can be anywhere, but a home is where your heart is. With the love you and your sweet family has, you will have a home anywhere you go.

After the "sand peeling" of my face its now as if I am 15 years younger...and all for free...:D LOL ( wasn't me, wasn't me I am not as crazy as the person that is shown on that picture!
Nice pics also from the roof and comments to it Steve!;)

Jos

Steve, bet you're very glad you did a preemptive strike on the tree in your back yard! Wow! That was some storm.

Jeffrey, I more than made up for my wimpy "old phart" breakfast at lunch time. Sausage Pizza...... Yes!

May get to do some work on the Layout tonight.

Ray josh Jos how's it going

Ray Glad it's gone but it's back tommorow, i was glad i cut the tree down BTW, there are loads of them down everywhere you go, at dad's caravan park a total of 7 tree's went down five over 100 ft tall, that's a lot of firewood. Ironically five of the tree's had condemed notices on so had to be cut down anyway which the local authority were paying the bill for, but the sixth tree and the biggest which has to be cut down AND the caravan park onwer has to pay for did not blow down so it's still going to cost a small fortune.
I may take a ride down tommorow for a look

We went out and saw the steam excursion come flying through with whistle blowing, fantastic stuff, all the little kid's loved it, and the big kids as well, it was to dark for a picture though.

I am O.K....didn't blow away Steve!;)
watch post # 734...Or does it always reach you somewhat later as I post mine..

Jos

Hi Gang:
Rex: 11 days to go. Of course 3 of those are weekend days and there will be a few sick days.
It's raining here and cold so I'm trying to stay inside. Of course that isn't always possible on a ranch. I had to get out and air up the left rear tire on the big tractor and check the feeders. I can wait until tomorrow to feed if it dosen't stop raining.
KenL: I'll have to do a short article with pictures on both the corragated metal and the Cliff's mine headframe. I'll load it onto a CD and have my friend with the high speed connection and the expertice post it for me.
Well time to take a nap. Practice for retirement, you know. He He He

Durn Wetherman outta be shot. Predicting 2 to 4 inches of the nasty white stuff and I am not ready fer it. Oh well the tractor is ready with tire chains and snow plow. So after I get home from work tomorrow out come de snow plow and a very cold Larry when done. At least this is first time to plow this year and I only plowed snow one time last year. Maybe after tomorrw I will be done with the snow plowin regime. I hop so I WANT WARM WEATHER and the sooner the better.
